Isaiah 49
1 Hearken, O isles, unto me; and listen, ye people, from afar: The Lord hath called me from my birth; from my mother's womb hath he made mention of my name.
Ouvi-me, ilhas, e escutai vós, povos de longe: O Senhor me chamou desde o ventre, desde as entranhas de minha mãe fez menção do meu nome.
2 And he hath rendered my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hidden me: and he hath rendered me as a polished arrow; in his quiver hath he concealed me;
E fez a minha boca como uma espada aguda, com a sombra da sua mão me cobriu: e me pôs como uma flecha limpa, e me escondeu na sua aljava.
3 And said unto me, My servant art thou, O Israel, thou on whom I will be glorified.
E me disse: Tu és meu servo: e Israel aquele por quem hei de ser glorificado.
4 But I had indeed said, For no purpose have I labored, for naught and vanity have I spent my strength; yet surely my cause is with the Lord, and the recompense of my work with my God.
Porém eu disse: Debalde tenho trabalhado, inútil e vãmente gastei as minhas forças: todavia o meu direito está perante o Senhor, e o meu galardão perante o meu Deus
5 And now hath said the Lord that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, that Israel may be gathered unto him, that I should be honored in the eyes of the Lord, while my God was my strength, —
E agora diz o Senhor, que me formou desde o ventre para seu servo, que lhe tornasse a trazer Jacob a ele; porém Israel não se deixará ajuntar: contudo aos olhos do Senhor serei glorificado, e o meu Deus será a minha força.
6 And he said, It is too light a thing that thou shouldst be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to bring back the preserved of Israel! but I will [also] appoint thee for a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach as far as the end of the earth.
Disse mais: Pouco é que sejas o meu servo, para restaurares as tribos de Jacob, e tornares a trazer os guardados em Israel: também te dei para luz dos gentios, para seres a minha salvação até à extremidade da terra.
7 Thus hath said the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to him who is despised by men, to him who is abhorred by nations, to the servant of rulers, Kings shall see it and rise up, princes, and they shall prostrate themselves, for the sake of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who hath made choice of thee.
Assim diz o Senhor, o redentor de Israel, o seu Santo, à alma desprezada, ao que a gente abomina, ao servo dos que dominam: Os reis o verão, e se levantarão, também os príncipes, e diante de ti se inclinarão, por amor do Senhor, que é fiel, e do Santo de Israel, que te escolheu.
8 Thus hath said the Lord, In the time of favor have I answered thee, and on the day of salvation have I helped thee; and I will preserve thee, and I will appoint thee as a people of my covenant to raise up the land, to divide out desolate heritages;
Assim diz o Senhor: No tempo favorável te ouvi e no dia da salvação te ajudei, e te guardarei, e te darei por concerto do povo, para restaurares a terra, para fazer possuir as herdades assoladas;
9 When I say to the prisoners, Go forth; to those that are in darkness, Show yourselves. On the roads shall they feed, and on all mountain-peaks shall be their pasture.
Para dizeres aos presos: saí; e aos que estão em trevas: aparecei: pastarão nos caminhos, e em todos os lugares altos haverá o seu pasto.
10 They shall not be hungry nor thirsty, and neither heat nor sun shall smite them; for he that hath mercy on them will lead them, and by springs of water will he guide them.
Nunca terão fome nem sede, nem a calma nem o sol os afligirá; porque o que se compadece deles os guiará, e os levará mansamente aos mananciais das águas.
11 And I will change all my mountains into a road, and my highways shall be lifted up.
E tornarei a todos os meus montes em caminho; e as minhas veredas serão levantadas.
12 Behold, these shall come from afar; and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.
Eis que estes virão de longe, e eis que aqueles do norte, e do ocidente, e aqueles outros da terra Sinim.
13 Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth, O mountains, into song; for the Lord hath comforted his people, and upon his oppressed will he have mercy.
Exultai, ó céus, e alegra-te tu, terra, e vós, montes, estalai com júbilo, porque já o Senhor consolou o seu povo, e dos seus aflitos se compadecerá.
14 Yet Zion said, the Eternal hath forsaken me, and the Lord hath forgotten me.
Porém Sião diz: Já me desamparou o Senhor, e o Senhor se esqueceu de mim.
15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, not to have mercy on the son of her body? yea, should these even forget, yet would I not forget thee.
Porventura pode uma mulher esquecer-se tanto de seu filho que cria, que se não compadeça dele, do filho do seu ventre? ora ainda que esta se esquecesse dele, contudo eu me não esquecerei de ti
16 Behold, upon the palms of my hands have I engraved thee; thy walls are continually before me.
Eis que em ambas as palmas das minhas mãos te tenho gravado: os teus muros estão continuamente perante mim.
17 Thy children come in haste; thy destroyers and they that laid thee waste shall go away from thee.
Os teus filhos apressuradamente virão, porém os teus destruidores e os teus assoladores sairão para fora de ti.
18 Lift up thy eyes round about, and see; they all are assembled together, they come to thee: as I live, saith the Lord, thou shalt surely clothe thyself with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them on thee, as a bride.
Levanta os teus olhos ao redor, e olha: todos estes que se ajuntam veem a ti: vivo eu, diz o Senhor, que de todos estes te vestirás, como dum ornamento, e te cingirás deles como noiva.
19 For thy ruins and thy desolate places, and thy wasted land, —yea, now shall it be too narrow for thee by reason of the inhabitants, and thy destroyers shall be far away.
Porque nos teus desertos, e nos teus lugares solitários, e na tua terra destruída, agora te verás apertada de moradores, e os que te devoravam se apartarão para longe de ti.
20 Yet again will say before thy ears the children of whom thou wast deprived, The place is too narrow for me; make room for me that I may dwell.
E ainda até os filhos da tua orfandade dirão aos teus ouvidos: Mui estreito é para mim este lugar; aparta-te de mim, para que possa habitar nele.
21 And thou wilt say in thy heart, Who hath born me these, seeing I was bereft of my children, and was solitary, an exile, and outcast? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left entirely alone; these, where have they been?
E dirás no teu coração: Quem me gerou estes? pois eu estava desfilhada e solitária; entrara em cativeiro, e me retirara; pois quem me criou estes? eis que eu só fui deixada de resto? e estes onde estavam?
22 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, I will lift up to the nations my hand, and to the people will I raise up high my standard; and they shall bring thy sons in [their] arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon shoulders.
Assim diz o Senhor: Eis que levantarei a minha mão para as nações, e aos povos arvorarei a minha bandeira: então trarão os teus filhos nos braços, e as tuas filhas serão levadas sobre os ombros.
23 And kings shall be thy nursing-fathers, and their princesses thy nursing-mothers; with the face toward the earth shall they bow down to thee, and the dust of thy feet shall they lick up: and thou shalt know that I am the Lord, who will not suffer those who hope in me to be ashamed.
E os reis serão os teus aios, e as suas princezas as tuas amas; diante de ti se inclinarão com o rosto em terra, e lamberão o pó dos teus pés, e saberás que eu sou o Senhor, que os que confiam em mim não serão confundidos.
24 Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or shall the captive of the victor escape?
Porventura se tiraria a preza ao valente? ou os presos dum justo escapariam?
25 For thus hath said the Lord, Also the captive of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the powerful shall escape; and with those who contend against thee will I contend, and thy children will I indeed save.
Porém assim diz o Senhor: Por certo que os presos se tirarão ao valente, e a preza do tirano escapará; porque eu contenderei com os teus contendedores, e os teus filhos eu remirei.
26 And I will feed thy oppressors with their own flesh; and as with new wine shall they be made drunken with their own blood: and all flesh shall know that I the Eternal am thy Saviour, and thy Redeemer the Mighty One of Jacob.
E sustentarei os teus opressores com a sua própria carne, e com o seu próprio sangue se embriagarão, como com mosto; e toda a carne saberá que eu sou o Senhor, o teu Salvador e o teu redentor, o Forte de Jacob.
