Isaiah 19

1 The doom of Egypt. Behold, the Lord rideth upon a swift cloud, and is coming to Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved because of his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in its inward parts.

Peso do Egito. Eis que o Senhor vem cavalgando numa nuvem ligeira, e virá ao Egito: e os ídolos do Egito serão movidos perante a sua face, e o coração dos egípcios se derreterá no meio deles.

2 And I will stir up Egyptians against Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his fellow; city against city, kingdom against kingdom.

Porque farei com que os egípcios se levantem contra os egípcios, e cada um pelejará contra o seu irmão, e cada um contra o seu próximo, cidade contra cidade, reino contra reino.

3 And the spirit of Egypt shall be emptied out in its inward parts, and its counsel will I frustrate; and they will inquire of the idols, and of the charmers, and of those that have familiar spirits, and of the wizards.

E o espírito dos egípcios se esvaecerá no seu interior, e destruirei o seu conselho: então consultarão aos seus ídolos, e encantadores, e adivinhos e mágicos.

4 And I will surrender the Egyptians into the hand of a cruel lord; and a rigorous king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the Eternal of hosts.

E entregarei os egípcios nas mãos de um senhor duro, e um rei rigoroso dominará sobre eles, diz o Senhor, o Senhor dos exércitos.

5 And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up.

E farão perecer as águas do mar, e o rio se esgotará e secará.

6 And the rivers shall become foul; and shallow and dried up shall become the deep streams: reeds and flags shall wither.

Também aos rios farão apodrecer e os esgotarão e farão secar as correntes das cavas: as canas e os juncos se murcharão.

7 The well-rooted plants by the stream, by the mouth of the stream, and every thing sown by the stream, shall dry up, be scattered [by the wind, ] and be no more.

A relva junto ao rio, junto às ribanceiras dos rios, e tudo o semeado junto ao rio, se secará, ao longe se lançará, e mais não subsistirá.

8 The fishermen also shall lament, and all they that cast an angle into the stream shall mourn; and they that spread nets upon the face of the waters shall languish.

E os pescadores gemerão, e suspirarão todos os que lançam anzol ao rio, e os que estendem rede sobre as águas desfalecerão.

9 And ashamed shall be they that work in fine flax, and they that weave white cloth.

E envergonhar-se-ão os que trabalham em linho fino, e os que tecem pano branco.

10 And its foundations shall be beaten down, all that build sluices shall be grieved in soul.

E juntamente com os seus fundamentos serão quebrantados todos os que fazem por pago viveiros de prazer.

11 Surely fools are the princes of Zo'an! the wise of the counsellors of Pharaoh [impart] silly counsel: how can ye say unto Pharaoh, I am a son of the wise, a son of the ancient kings?

Na verdade loucos são os príncipes de Zoan, o conselho dos sábios conselheiros de faraó se embruteceu: como pois a faraó direis: Sou filho dos sábios, filho dos antigos reis?

12 Where are they, these, thy wise men? that they may tell thee now, that they know what the Lord of hosts hath resolved on over Egypt.

Onde estão agora os teus sábios? notifiquem-te agora, ou informem-se sobre o que o Senhor dos exércitos determinou contra o Egito.

13 The princes of Zo'an are become fools, deceived are the princes of Noph; and Egypt is led astray by the chiefs of its tribes.

Loucos se tornaram os príncipes de Zoan, enganados estão os príncipes de Noph: eles farão errar o Egito, aqueles que são a pedra de esquina das suas tribos.

14 The Lord hath poured out in the midst thereof a spirit of perverseness: and they have led Egypt astray in all its work, as a drunkard reeleth astray in his vomit.

Já o Senhor derramou no meio dele um perverso espírito, e fizeram errar o Egito em toda a sua obra, como o bêbado quando se revolve no seu vômito.

15 And there shall not be for Egypt [successful] work, which the head or tail, palm-branch or rush, may do.

E não aproveitará ao Egito obra nenhuma que possa fazer a cabeça, a cauda, o ramo, ou o junco.

16 On that day shall Egypt be like the women: and it shall tremble and be in dread because of the waving of the hand of the Lord of hosts, which he waveth over it.

Naquele tempo os egípcios serão como mulheres, e tremerão e temerão por causa do movimento da mão do Senhor dos exércitos, que há de mover contra eles.

17 And the land of Judah shall become unto Egypt a terror, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be in dread, because of the counsel of the Lord of hosts, which he hath resolved against it.

E a terra de Judá será um espanto para os egípcios, e quem disso fizer menção se assombrará de si mesmo, por causa do conselho do Senhor dos exércitos, que determinou contra eles.

18 On that day shall be five cities in the land of Egypt speaking the language of Canaan, and swearing by the Lord of hosts; “The city of destruction” shall one be called.

Naquele tempo haverá cinco cidades na terra do Egito que falem a língua de Canaan e façam juramento ao Senhor dos exércitos: e uma se chamará: Cidade de destruição.

19 On that day shall there be all altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at its border to the Lord.

Naquele tempo o Senhor terá um altar no meio da terra do Egito, e um título ao Senhor, arvorado junto do seu termo.

20 And it shall be for a sign and for a testimony unto the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they shall cry unto the Lord because of the oppressors, and he will send them a helper, and a chief, and he shall deliver them.

E servirá de sinal e de testemunho ao Senhor dos exércitos na terra do Egito, porque ao Senhor clamarão por causa dos opressores, e ele lhes enviará um redentor e um protetor, que os livre.

21 And the Lord will be made known to the Egyptians, and the Egyptians shall know the Lord on that day, and will do service [with] sacrifice and oblation; yea, they will make vows unto the Lord and perform [them].

E o Senhor se fará conhecer aos egípcios, e os egípcios conhecerão ao Senhor naquele dia, e servirão com sacrifícios e ofertas, e votarão votos ao Senhor, e os pagarão.

22 And the Lord will thus strike Egypt, striking and healing it: and they will return unto the Lord, and he will be entreated of them, and heal them.

E ferirá o Senhor aos egípcios, e os curará: e converter-se-ão ao Senhor, e mover-se-á às suas orações, e os curará;

23 On that day there shall be a highway out of Egypt to Asshur, and Asshur shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptians into Asshur, and the Egyptians shall serve with Asshur [the Lord].

Naquele dia haverá estrada do Egito até à Assyria, e os assyrios virão ao Egito, e os egípcios à Assyria: e os egípcios servirão com os assyrios ao Senhor.

24 On that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Asshur, a blessing in the midst of the earth.

Naquele dia Israel será o terceiro com os egípcios e os assyrios, uma benção no meio da terra.

25 Whom the Lord of hosts will have blessed, saying, Blessed be my people Egypt, and Asshur the work of my hands, and my heritage Israel.

Porque o Senhor dos exércitos os abençoará, dizendo: bendito seja o meu povo do Egito e Assyria, a obra de minhas mãos, e Israel a minha herança.
