Ezekiel 1
1 And it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was in the midst of the exiles by the river Kebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw divine visions.
Am fünften Tag des vierten Monds im Jahre dreißig, als ich am Kebarfluß bei den Gefangenen war, hat sich der Himmel aufgetan: Ich schaute göttliche Gesichte.
2 On the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of the exile of king Jehoyachin,
Am fünften Tag des Monats - es war das fünfte Jahr seit König Jojachins Verbannung -
3 Came the word of the Lord expressly unto Ezekiel the son of Buzi, the priest, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Kebar; and there came upon him there the inspiration of the Lord.
erging das Wort des Herrn tatsächlich an Ezechiel, des Buzi Sohn, den Priester, im Lande der Chaldäer, an dem Kebarfluß. Dort kam die Hand des Herrn auf mich.
4 And I saw, and behold, a storm-wind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a flaming fire, and a brightness was on it round about; and out of the midst of it was like the glitter of amber, out of the midst of the fire.
Ich schaute: Ein Sturmwind kam von Norden her und eine große Wolke und ein Feuerwirbel, um diesen ringsherum ein Glanz und mitten drin wie Silbergold, ja, mitten in dem Feuer.
5 And out of the midst thereof [I saw] the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: They had the likeness of a man.
Und mitten drinnen sah man so etwas wie vier lebendige Gestalten; ihr Aussehn hatte Ähnlichkeit mit Menschen.
6 And every one had four faces, and every one of them had four wings.
Ein jedes hatte vier Gesichter, vier Flügel jedes.
7 And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the glitter of burnished copper.
Und ihre Füße standen senkrecht da; gerundet waren ihre Fußsohlen und funkelten wie glänzend Erz.
8 And hands of man [were visible] from beneath their wings on their four sides: and their faces and their wings [were alike] on all these four.
Sie hatten Menschenhände unter ihren Flügeln an den vier Seiten; vier Flügel hatten sie wie vier Gesichter.
9 Their wings were joined one to the other: they turned not about in their going; they went every one in the direction of one of their faces.
Die Flügel stießen aneinander; sie selber aber drehten sich nicht um bei ihrem Fortbewegen; ein jedes ging gerade vor sich hin.
10 And the likeness of their faces was the face of a man; and the face of a lion, on the right side for all four of them; and the face of an ox on the left side for all four of them; and the face of an eagle for all four of them.
Ihr Antlitz sah dem Menschenantlitz ähnlich, zur Rechten dieser viere dem des Löwen, zur Linken dieser viere dem des Stiers und dem des Adlers. Das war das Antlitz dieser vier.
11 Thus were their faces: and their wings were spread out upward; every one had two joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.
Darüber waren ihre Flügel ausgebreitet; zwei Paare hatte jedes; das eine Paar stieß an das andere, und dies bedeckte ihre Körper.
12 And they went every one in the direction of one of his faces: whither the spirit was directed to go, they went; they turned not about in their going.
Ein jedes ging gerade vor sich hin. Wohin zu gehn der Geist sie trieb, da gingen sie auch hin. Sie drehten sich nicht um im Gehen.
13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like coals of fire, burning as with the appearance of torches; this [fire] it was which passed along between the living creatures: and a brightness was about the fire, and out of the fire went forth lightning.
Und diese Lebewesen sahen aus wie Feuerkohlen, die wie Fackeln flammten. Das Feuer flammte zwischen diesen Wesen hin und her; es hatte aber einen hellen Glanz, und aus dem Feuer fuhren Blitze aus.
14 And the living creatures ran backward and forward like the appearance of a flash of lightning.
Und diese Wesen liefen hin und her wie Wetterleuchten.
15 And I looked on the living creatures, and, behold, there was one wheel upon the earth close by the living creatures, by their four front faces.
Da sah ich mir die Wesen näher an, und je ein Rad ging auf der Erde neben diesen Wesen, entsprechend ihren vier Gesichtern.
16 The appearance of the wheels and their work was like the color of a chrysolite; and all four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as though it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.
Die Räder und was sonst daran, glich einem Chrysolith. Sie waren alle vier einander ähnlich und so geformt, als ob ein Rad im andern wäre.
17 Toward their four sides they went in their going: they turned not round in their going.
Auf jeder der vier Seiten gingen sie, wenn sie sich fortbewegten; beim Gehen drehten sie sich nicht.
18 As for their circumferences, they were so high that they excited fear: and their felloes were full of eyes round about on all these four.
Doch ihre Felgen konnten sich erheben, und Rührigkeit war ihnen eigen. Auch Sehkraft hatten sie; voll Augen waren nämlich ihre Pflöcke ringsumher bei diesen vieren.
19 And when the living creatures went, the wheels went near to them: and when the living creatures lifted themselves up from the earth, the wheels lifted themselves up.
Und wenn die Wesen sich bewegten, so gingen auch die Räder neben ihnen mit, und wenn die Wesen von der Erde sich erhoben, erhoben sich zugleich die Räder.
20 Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went; [for] thither was [their] spirit to go: and the wheels lifted themselves up at the same time with them; for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
Wohin zu gehn der Geist sie trieb, da gingen sie auch hin. Die Räder hoben sich mit ihnen in die Höhe; auch in den Rädern war der Geist der Wesen.
21 When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those lifted themselves up from the earth, the wheels lifted themselves up at the same time with them; for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
Wenn jene gingen, gingen diese auch, und standen jene still, so standen sie auch still. Erhoben jene sich vom Boden, erhoben sich mit ihnen auch die Räder; auch in den Rädern war der Geist des Lebens,
22 And the likeness of a vault was over the head of the living creatures, [shining] like the glitter of the purest crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.
und oberhalb der Häupter dieser Wesen war etwas gleich einem Himmel, an Aussehn wie von wunderbarem Eiskristall; ganz weit war's über ihren Häuptern oben.
23 And under the vault their wings were straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered them, and every one had two, which covered them, —[namely, ] their bodies.
Und unter diesem Himmel waren ihre Flügel grade ausgebreitet, der eine an den andern rührend, und jeder hatte noch zwei Flügel, mit denen sie von beiden Seiten ihren Leib bedeckten.
24 And I heard the sound of their wings, like the sound of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, when they went, the sound of [their] speech, as the noise of an army: when they stood still, they let down their wings.
Und ihrer Flügel Rauschen, das ich hörte, war gleich dem Rauschen vieler Wasser und gleich des Hochgebirges Dröhnen, wenn sie sich fortbewegten, und gleich dem Tosen eines Wolkenbruchs, wie Kriegsgetümmel. Doch wenn sie stillestanden, senkten sie die Flügel.
25 And there was a voice from the vault that was over their head: when they stood still, they let down their wings.
Wenn sich dann eine Stimme hören ließ von oberhalb des Himmels über ihren Häuptern, verhielten sie, die Flügel senkend.
26 And above the vault that was over their head was like the appearance of a sapphire-stone, the likeness of a throne: and upon the likeness of the throne was a likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
Denn oberhalb des Himmels über ihren Häuptern war etwas wie ein Saphirthron, und auf dem Throngebilde saß ein menschenähnlich Wesen.
27 And I saw as if it were the glitter of amber, as the appearance of fire within it round about, from the appearance of his loins upward; and from the appearance of his loins downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.
Wie Silbergold erschien es mir, als ob es innen ringsum Feuer wäre, beim Anblick seines Oberkörpers. Beim Anblick seines Unterleibes aber sah ich ein Feuer ringsum Glanz verbreiten.
28 Like the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about: this was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard the voice of one that spoke.
So wie der Wolke Bogen, wenn es regnet, so war der Glanz beschaffen ringsherum, ein Anblick gleich der Herrlichkeit des Herrn. Ich sah's; dann fiel ich auf mein Antlitz nieder und hörte eine Stimme sprechen.
