Amos 2

1 Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because he burnt the bones of the king of Edom into lime;

Assim diz o Senhor: Por três transgressões de Moab, e por quatro, não o afastarei, porque queimou os ossos do rei de Edom, até os tornar em cal.

2 And I will send a fire against Moab, which shall devour the palaces of Keriyoth: and Moab shall die in the tumult, in the shouting, amidst the sound of the cornet;

Por isso porei fogo a Moab, e consumirá os palácios de Querioth: e Moab morrerá com grande estrondo, com alarido, com sonido de buzina.

3 And I will cut off the judges from her midst, and all her princes will I slay, with him, saith the Lord.

E exterminarei o juiz do meio dele, e a todos os seus príncipes com ele matarei, diz o Senhor.

4 Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they have despised the law of the Lord, and did not keep his statutes, and their lying idols caused them to err, after which their fathers had walked;

Assim diz o Senhor: Por três transgressões de Judá, e por quatro, não o afastarei, porque rejeitaram a lei do Senhor, e não guardaram os seus estatutos, e as suas mentiras os enganaram, após as quais andaram seus pais.

5 And I will send out a fire against Judah, which shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

Por isso porei fogo a Judá, e consumirá os palácios de Jerusalém.

6 Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they sold for silver the righteous, and the needy for a pair of shoes;

Assim diz o Senhor: Por três transgressões de Israel, e por quatro, não o afastarei, porque vendem o justo por dinheiro, e o necessitado por um par de sapatos,

7 That are eager after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same young woman, in order to profane my holy name.

Suspirando pelo pó da terra sobre a cabeça dos pobres, e pervertem o caminho dos mansos; e o homem e seu pai entram a uma mesma moça, para profanarem o meu santo nome.

8 And upon pledged garments they stretch themselves out by every altar, and the wine of the condemned do they drink in the house of their gods.

E se deitam junto a qualquer altar sobre as roupas empenhadas, e bebem o vinho dos multados na casa de seus deuses.

9 Yet have I destroyed the Emorite from before them, whose height was like the height of cedars, and who was strong as the oaks; but I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

Não obstante eu ter destruído o amorreu diante deles, cuja altura foi como a altura dos cedros, e foi forte como os carvalhos; mas destruí o seu fruto por cima, e as suas raízes por baixo.

10 And it was I who have brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to take possession of the land of the Emorite.

Também vos fiz subir da terra do Egito, e quarenta anos vos guiei no deserto, para que possuisseis a terra do amorreu.

11 And I have raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for nazarites: is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the Lord.

E a alguns dentre vossos filhos suscitei para profetas, e alguns dentre os vossos mancebos para nazireus; e não é isto assim, filhos de Israel? diz o Senhor.

12 But ye have given the nazarites wine to drink; and concerning the prophets have ye commanded, saying, Ye shall not prophesy.

Mas vós aos nazireus destes vinho a beber, e aos profetas mandastes, dizendo: Não profetizareis.

13 Behold, I press down [the ground] under you, as the wagon presseth [it] down that is full of sheaves.

Eis que eu vos apertarei no vosso lugar como se aperta um carro cheio de manolhos.

14 And refuge shall vanish from the swift, and the strong shall not make use of his force, neither shall the mighty man escape with his life.

Assim que perecerá a fugida ao ligeiro; nem o forte corroborará a sua força, nem o valente livrará a sua vida.

15 And he that handleth the bow shall not be able to stand; and he that is swift of foot shall not escape: neither shall he that rideth the horse escape with his life.

E não ficará em pé o que leva o arco, nem o ligeiro de pés se livrará, nem tão pouco o que vai montado a cavalo livrará a sua alma.

16 And he that is most courageous hearted among the mighty shall flee away naked on that day, saith the Lord.

E o mais animoso entre os valentes fugirá nu naquele dia, disse o Senhor.
