< Psalms 87 >

1 A Psalm of a Song for the sons of Core. His foundations are in the holy mountains.
His foundation is in the holy mountains.
2 The Lord loves the gates of Sion, more than all the tabernacles of Jacob.
Adonai 'ahav ·affectionately loves· the gates of Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking] more than all the dwellings of Jacob [Supplanter].
3 Glorious things have been spoken of you, O city of God. (Pause)
Glorious things are spoken about you, city of God. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
4 I will make mention of Raab and Babylon to them that know me: behold also the Philistines, and Tyre, and the people of the Ethiopians: these were born there.
I will record Rahab and Babylon [Confusion] among those who acknowledge me. Behold, Philistia, Tyre, and also Ethiopia: “This one was born there.”
5 A man shall say, Sion [is my] mother; and [such] a man was born in her; and the Highest himself has founded her.
Yes, of Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking] it will be said, “This one and that one was born in her;” haElyon [the Most High] himself will establish her.
6 The Lord shall recount [it] in the writing of the people, and of these princes that were born in her.
Adonai will count, when he writes up the peoples, “This one was born there.” (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
7 The dwelling of all within you is [as the dwelling] of those that rejoice.
Those who sing as well as those who dance say, “All my springs are in you.”
