Psalms 64

1 For the end, a Psalm of David. Hear my prayer, O God, when I make my petition to you; deliver my soul from fear of the enemy.

Dem Musikmeister. Ein Psalm Davids. Höre, o Gott, meine Stimme in meiner Klage; behüte mein Leben vor dem Schrecken des Feindes!

2 You have sheltered me from the conspiracy of them that do wickedly; from the multitude of them that work iniquity;

Schirme mich vor der Gemeinschaft der Bösewichter, vor der Rotte der Übelthäter,

3 who have sharpened their tongues as a sword; they have bent their bow maliciously;

die ihre Zunge geschärft haben wie ein Schwert, ihren Pfeil - bittere Rede - gespannt haben,

4 to shoot in secret at the blameless; they will shoot him suddenly, and will not fear.

um im Verborgenen auf den Redlichen zu schießen: plötzlich schießen sie auf ihn, ohne Scheu.

5 They have set up for themselves an evil matter, they have given counsel to hide snares; they have said, Who shall see them?

Sie halten fest an bösem Anschlag, reden davon, daß sie Fallstricke verbergen wollen; sie denken: Wer wird auf uns sehen?

6 They have searched out iniquity; they have wearied themselves with searching diligently, a man shall approach and the heart is deep,

Sie ersinnen Frevelthat: “Wir sind fertig, ersonnen ist der Anschlag!” und das Innere eines jeden und sein Herz ist unergründlich.

7 and God shall be exalted, their wounds were [caused by] the weapon of the foolish children,

Da trifft sie Gott mit dem Pfeil; plötzlich entstehen ihnen Wunden.

8 and their tongues have set him at nothing, all that saw them were troubled;

Man läßt ihn straucheln, indem ihre Zunge über sie kommt; es schütteln sich alle, die auf sie blicken.

9 and every man was alarmed, and they related the works of God, and understood his deeds.

Da fürchten sich alle Menschen und verkünden Gottes Thun und betrachten sein Werk.

10 The righteous shall rejoice in the Lord, and hope on him, and all the upright in heart shall be praised.

Der Fromme wird sich Jahwes freuen und Zuflucht bei ihm suchen, und rühmen werden sich alle, die redliches Herzens sind.
