Psalms 32
1 [A Psalm] of instruction by David. Blessed [are they] whose transgressions are forgiven, and who sins are covered.
De David. — Hymne. Heureux celui dont la transgression est remise, Et dont les péchés sont pardonnés!
2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin, and whose mouth there is no guile.
Heureux l'homme à qui l'Éternel n'impute pas l'iniquité. Et dans l'esprit duquel il n'y a point de fraude!
3 Because I kept silence, my bones waxed old, from my crying all the day.
Tant que je gardais le silence, mon corps dépérissait. Je gémissais tout le jour;
4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me: I became thoroughly miserable while a thorn was fastened in [me]. (Pause)
Car, jour et nuit, ta main s'appesantissait sur moi. (Pause) Ma vigueur avait fait place à la sécheresse de l'été.
5 I acknowledged my sin, and hid not mine iniquity: I said, I will confess mine iniquity to the Lord against myself; and you forgave the ungodliness of my heart. (Pause)
Je t'ai fait connaître mon péché; Je ne t'ai point caché mon iniquité. J'ai dit: «Je confesserai mes transgressions à l'Éternel!» Alors tu as ôté la peine de mon péché. (Pause)
6 Therefore shall every holy one pray to you in a fit time: only in the deluge of many waters they shall not come near to him.
C'est pourquoi tout fidèle t'invoquera Au temps où l'on te trouve; Et quand même les grandes eaux viendraient à déborder, Lui seul n'en serait pas atteint.
7 You are my refuge from the affliction that encompasses me; my joy, to deliver me from them that have compassed me. (Pause)
Tu es pour moi un asile; tu me préserves de la détresse; Tu m'environnes de chants de délivrance. (Pause)
8 I will instruct you and guide you in this way wherein you shall go: I will fix mine eyes upon you.
«Je te rendrai intelligent. Je te montrerai le chemin que tu dois suivre; Je serai ton conseiller; mon oeil sera sur toi».
9 Be you not as horse and mule, which have no understanding; [but you must] constrain their jaws with bit and curb, lest they should come near to you.
Ne soyez pas sans intelligence, comme le cheval et le mulet, Dont il faut serrer la bouche avec un mors et un frein, Pour s'en faire obéir!
10 Many are the scourges of the sinner: but him that hopes in the Lord mercy shall compass about.
Beaucoup de douleurs attendent le méchant; Mais celui qui se confie en l'Éternel Est environné de miséricorde.
11 Be glad in the Lord, and exult, you righteous: and glory, all you that are upright in heart.
Justes, réjouissez-vous en l'Éternel, tressaillez de joie! Poussez des cris d'allégresse, vous tous qui avez le coeur droit!
