Michaeas 5

1 Now shall the daughter [of Sion] be completely hedged in: he has laid siege against us: they shall strike the tribes of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

¡Fórmate ahora un ejército, ciudad atacada! Nos han puesto sitio; con una vara hieren en la mejilla al juez de Israel.

2 And you, Bethleem, house of Ephratha, are few in number to be [reckoned] among the thousands of Juda; [yet] out of you shall one come forth to me, to be a ruler of Israel; and his goings forth were from the beginning, [even] from eternity.

Pero tú, Belén de Efrata, pequeña (para figurar) entre los millares de Judá, de ti me saldrá el que ha de ser dominador de Israel, cuyos orígenes son desde los tiempos antiguos, desde los días de la eternidad.

3 Therefore shall he appoint them [to wait] till the time of her that travails: she shall bring forth, and [then] the remnant of their brethren shall return to the children of Israel.

Por esto los entregará (a sus enemigos), hasta el tiempo en que dará a luz la que ha de dar a luz, y los restos de sus hermanos regresarán a los hijos de Israel.

4 And the Lord shall stand, and see, and feed his flock with power, and they shall dwell in the glory of the name of the Lord their God: for now shall they be magnified to the ends of the earth.

Él se mantendrá firme, y apacentará (su grey) con la fortaleza de Yahvé, y con la majestad del Nombre, de Yahvé, su Dios; y ellos habitarán (en paz), pues entonces será Él glorificado hasta los términos de la tierra;

5 And she shall have peace when Assur shall come into your land, and when he shall come up upon your country; and there shall be raised up against him seven shepherds, and eight attacks of men.

y Él será la paz. Cuando el asirio penetrare en nuestra tierra y ponga su pie en nuestros palacios, le opondremos siete pastores y ocho príncipes,

6 And they shall tend the Assyrian with a sword, and the land of Nebrod with her trench: and he shall deliver [you] from the Assyrian, when he shall come upon your land, and when he shall invade your coasts.

que apacentarán el país de Asiria con la espada y la tierra de Nimrod con sus cuchillos. Él (nos) librará del asirio cuando este invadiere nuestra tierra y hollare nuestro territorio.

7 And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many peoples, as dew falling from the Lord, and as lambs on the grass; that none may assemble nor resist among the sons of men.

Y el resto de Jacob estará entre muchas naciones, como rocío de Yahvé, como lluvia sobre la hierba, que no aguarda a nadie, ni espera (nada) de los hijos de los hombres.

8 And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many nations, as a lion in the forest among cattle, and as a [lion's] whelp among the flocks of sheep, even as when he goes through, and selects, and carries off [his prey], and there is none to deliver.

Y será el resto de Jacob entre las naciones, en medio de muchos pueblos, como león entre las bestias de la selva, como leoncillo entre los hatos de ovejas; el cual pasa, huella y despedaza, y no hay quien salve.

9 Your hand shall be lifted up against them that afflict you, and all your enemies shall be utterly destroyed.

Se alzara tu mano sobre tus adversarios, y todos tus enemigos serán exterminados.

10 And it shall come to pass in that day, says the Lord, [that] I will utterly destroy the horses out of the midst of you, and destroy your chariots;

En aquel día, dice Yahvé, extirparé tus caballos de en medio de ti y destruiré tus carros.

11 and I will utterly destroy the cities of your land, and demolish all your strongholds:

Arruinaré las ciudades de tu tierra y destruiré todas tus fortalezas.

12 and I will utterly destroy your sorceries out of your hands; and there shall be no soothsayers in you.

Quitaré de tu mano las hechicerías, y no habrá más agoreros en ti.

13 And I will utterly destroy your graven images, and your statues out of the midst of you; and you shall never any more worship the works of your hands.

Cortaré de en medio de ti tus estatuas y tus piedras de culto, y no adorarás más la obra, de tus manos.

14 And I will cut off the groves out of the midst of you, and I will abolish your cities.

Arrancaré de en medio de ti tus ascheras y destruiré tus ciudades;

15 and I will execute vengeance on the heathen in anger and wrath, because they listened not.

y con ira e indignación tomaré venganza de los pueblos que no escucharon.
