Joel 2
1 Sound the trumpet in Sion, make a proclamation in my holy mountain, and let all the inhabitants of the land be confounded: for the day of the Lord is near;
Tocai a buzina em Sião, e clamai em alta voz no monte da minha santidade: perturbem-se todos os moradores da terra, porque o dia do Senhor vem, porque está perto:
2 for a day of darkness and gloominess is near, a day of cloud and mist: a numerous and strong people shall be spread upon the mountains as the morning; there has not been from the beginning one like it, and after it there shall not be again even to the years of many generations.
Dia de trevas e de escuridade; dia de nuvens e grossas trevas; como a alva espalhada sobre os montes; povo grande e poderoso, qual desde o tempo antigo nunca houve, nem depois dele haverá mais até aos anos de geração em geração.
3 Before them is a consuming fire, and behind them is a flame kindled: the land before them is as a paradise of delight, and behind them a desolate plain: and there shall none of them escape.
Diante dele um fogo consome, e atráz dele uma chama abraza: a terra diante dele é como o jardim do Éden, mas atráz dele um deserto de assolação, nem tão pouco haverá coisa que dela escape.
4 Their appearance is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they pursue.
O seu parecer é como o parecer de cavalos: e correrão como cavaleiros.
5 As the sound of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, and as the sound of a flame of fire devouring stubble, and as a numerous and strong people setting themselves in array for battle.
Como o estrondo de carros, irão saltando sobre os cumes dos montes, como o sonido da chama de fogo que consome a pragana, como um povo poderoso, ordenado para o combate.
6 Before them shall the people be crushed: every face [shall be] as the blackness of a caldron.
Diante dele temerão os povos; todos os rostos são como a tisnadura da panela.
7 As warriors shall they run, and as men of war shall they mount on the walls; and each shall move in his [right] path, and they shall not turn aside from their tracks:
Como valentes correrão, como homens de guerra subirão os muros; e irá cada um nos seus caminhos e não se desviarão da sua fileira.
8 and not one shall stand aloof from his brother: they shall go on weighed down with their arms, and they fall upon their weapons, yet shall they in no wise be destroyed.
Ninguém apertará a seu irmão; irá cada um pelo seu carreiro; sobre a mesma espada se arremessarão, e não serão feridos.
9 They shall seize upon the city, and run upon the walls, and go up upon the houses, and enter in through the windows as thieves.
Irão pela cidade, correrão pelos muros, subirão às casas, pelas janelas entrarão como o ladrão.
10 Before them the earth shall be confounded, and the sky shall be shaken: the sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their light.
Diante dele tremerá a terra, abalar-se-ão os céus; o sol e a lua se enegrecerão, e as estrelas retirarão o seu resplandor.
11 And the Lord shall utter his voice before his host: for his camp is very great: for the execution of his words is mighty: for the day of the Lord is great, very glorious, and who shall be able to [resist] it?
E o Senhor levanta a sua voz diante do seu exército; porque muitíssimos são os seus arraiais; porque poderoso é, fazendo a sua palavra; porque o dia do Senhor é grande e mui terrível, e quem o poderá sofrer?
12 Now therefore, says the Lord your God, turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with lamentation:
Ora, pois, também fala o Senhor: Convertei-vos a mim com todo o vosso coração; e isso com jejuns, e com choro, e com pranto.
13 and rend your hearts, and not your garments, and turn to the Lord your God: for he is merciful and compassionate, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy, and repents of evils.
E rasgai o vosso coração, e não os vossos vestidos, e convertei-vos ao Senhor vosso Deus; porque ele é misericordioso, e é clemente, e tardio em irar-se, e grande em beneficência, e se arrepende do mal.
14 Who knows if he will return, and repent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meat-offering and a drink-offering to the Lord your God?
Quem sabe se se converterá e se arrependerá, e deixará após si uma benção, em oferta de manjar e libação para o Senhor vosso Deus?
15 Sound the trumpet in Sion, sanctify a fast, proclaim a [solemn] service:
Tocai a buzina em Sião, santificai um jejum, apregoai um dia de proibição.
16 gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the infants at the breast: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.
Congregai o povo, santificai a congregação, ajuntai os anciãos, congregai os filhinhos, e os que mamam os peitos: saia o noivo da sua recâmara, e a noiva do seu tálamo.
17 Between the porch and the altar let the priests that minister to the Lord weep, and say, Spare your people, O Lord, and give not your heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them, lest they should say among the heathen, Where is their God?
Chorem os sacerdotes, ministros do Senhor, entre o alpendre e o altar, e digam: Poupa a teu povo, ó Senhor, e não entregues a tua herança ao opróbrio, para que as nações façam mofa dele; porque diriam entre os povos: Onde está o seu Deus?
18 But the Lord was jealous of his land, and spared his people.
Então o Senhor terá zelo da sua terra, e se compadecerá do seu povo.
19 And the Lord answered and said to his people, Behold, I [will] send you corn, and wine, and oil, and you shall be satisfied with them: and I will no longer make you a reproach among the Gentiles.
E o Senhor responderá, e dirá ao seu povo: Eis que vos envio o trigo, e o mosto, e o óleo, e deles sereis fartos, e vos não entregarei mais ao opróbrio entre as nações.
20 And I will chase away from you the northern [adversary], and will drive him away into a dry land, and I will sink his face in the former sea, and his back parts in the latter sea, and his ill savor shall come up, and his stink come up, because he has wrought great things.
E aquele que é do norte farei partir para longe de vós, e lança-lo-ei em uma terra seca e deserta: a sua face para o mar oriental, e a sua extremidade para o mal ocidental; e subirá o seu fedor, e subirá a sua podridão; porque fez grandes coisas.
21 Be of good courage, O land; rejoice and be glad: for the Lord has done great things.
Não temas, ó terra: regozija-te e alegra-te; porque o Senhor fez grandes coisas.
22 Be of good courage, you beasts of the plain, for the plains of the wilderness have budded, for the trees have borne their fruit, the fig tree and the vine have yielded their strength.
Não temais, animais do campo, porque os pastos do deserto reverdecerão, porque o arvoredo dará o seu fruto, a vide e a figueira darão a sua força.
23 Rejoice then and be glad, you children of Sion, in the Lord your God: for he has given you food fully, and he will rain on you the early and the latter rain, as before.
E vós, filhos de Sião, regozijai-vos e alegrai-vos no Senhor vosso Deus, porque ele vos dará ensinador de justiça, e vos fará descer a chuva, a temporã e a serodia, no primeiro mês.
24 And the floors shall be filled with corn, and the presses shall overflow with wine and oil.
E as eiras se encherão de trigo, e os lagares trasbordarão de mosto e de óleo.
25 And I will recompense you for the years which the locust, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, and the cankerworm have eaten, [even] my great army, which I sent against you.
E restituir-vos-ei os anos que comeu o gafanhoto, a locusta, e o pulgão e a aruga, o meu grande exército que enviei contra vós.
26 And you shall eat abundantly, and be satisfied, and shall praise the name of the Lord your God [for the things] which he has wrought wonderfully with you: and my people shall not be ashamed for ever.
E comereis abundantemente e até fartar-vos, e louvareis o nome do Senhor vosso Deus, o qual obrou para convosco maravilhosamente; e o meu povo não será envergonhado para sempre.
27 And you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and [that] I am the Lord your God, and [that] there is none else beside me; and my people shall no more be ashamed for ever.
E vós sabereis que eu estou no meio de Israel, e que eu sou o Senhor vosso Deus, e ninguém mais: e o meu povo não será envergonhado para sempre.
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.
E há de ser que, depois, derramarei o meu espírito sobre toda a carne, e vossos filhos e vossas filhas profetizarão, os vossos velhos sonharão sonhos, os vossos mancebos verão visões.
29 And on my servants and on [my] handmaids in those days will I pour out of my Spirit.
E também sobre os servos e sobre as servas naqueles dias derramarei o meu espírito.
30 And I will show wonders in heaven, and upon the earth, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.
E darei prodígios no céu, e na terra, sangue e fogo, e colunas de fumo.
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord come.
O sol se converterá em trevas, e a lua em sangue, antes que venha o grande e terrível dia do Senhor.
32 And it shall come to pass [that] whoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved: for in mount Sion and in Jerusalem shall the saved one be as the Lord has said, and they that have glad tidings preached to them, whom the Lord has called.
E há de ser que todo aquele que invocar o nome do Senhor escapará; porque no monte de Sião e em Jerusalém haverá livramento, assim como o Senhor tem dito, e nos que restarem, os quais o Senhor chamará.
