Joel 2
1 Sound the trumpet in Sion, make a proclamation in my holy mountain, and let all the inhabitants of the land be confounded: for the day of the Lord is near;
Lat luren ljoma på Sion! Skrik høgt på mitt heilage fjell! Skjelve, alle i mannaheimen! Koma skal Herrens dag, ja, han er nær.
2 for a day of darkness and gloominess is near, a day of cloud and mist: a numerous and strong people shall be spread upon the mountains as the morning; there has not been from the beginning one like it, and after it there shall not be again even to the years of many generations.
Ein dag med myrker og dimma, ein dag med skodda og sky, som ein morgongråe er eit tallaust folk breidt yver fjelli. Du liken aldri ser frå æva som var, og aldri i åri til komande ætter.
3 Before them is a consuming fire, and behind them is a flame kindled: the land before them is as a paradise of delight, and behind them a desolate plain: and there shall none of them escape.
Framfyre et elden upp; og etter kjem brennande logen. Som Edenshagen var landet framfyre og etterpå snaudaste heidi. Å berga noko nyttar ikkje her.
4 Their appearance is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they pursue.
Som øykjer er dei å sjå til, som stridshestar tråvar dei fram.
5 As the sound of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, and as the sound of a flame of fire devouring stubble, and as a numerous and strong people setting themselves in array for battle.
Liksom glamrande vogner fer dei yver alle fjell. Det susar og brusar, som når eld sleikjer strå, som ei veldug herfylking samla til strid.
6 Before them shall the people be crushed: every face [shall be] as the blackness of a caldron.
Støkken tek folk ved syni, alle andlit skiftar lit.
7 As warriors shall they run, and as men of war shall they mount on the walls; and each shall move in his [right] path, and they shall not turn aside from their tracks:
Som kjempor rusar dei i veg, liksom stridsmenner stormar dei murar. Kvar ein på si leid sturtar fram, og aldri dei krøkjer sin veg.
8 and not one shall stand aloof from his brother: they shall go on weighed down with their arms, and they fall upon their weapons, yet shall they in no wise be destroyed.
Ingen trengjer den andre burt, kvar hev si eigi braut, tvert gjenom våpni, og ho brest ikkje rekkja.
9 They shall seize upon the city, and run upon the walls, and go up upon the houses, and enter in through the windows as thieves.
Inn i byen dei stormar, stig upp på muren, gjeng inn i husi, og inn gjenom vindaugo bryt dei seg som tjuvar.
10 Before them the earth shall be confounded, and the sky shall be shaken: the sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their light.
Jordi fyre deim skjelv, himlarne bivrar, sol og måne dei svartnar, medan stjernorne løyner sin glans.
11 And the Lord shall utter his voice before his host: for his camp is very great: for the execution of his words is mighty: for the day of the Lord is great, very glorious, and who shall be able to [resist] it?
Og Herren let høyra sitt mål framfyre si fylking, for ovstor er hans herlæger, veldug hans ærendsvein er. Ja, stor er Herrens dag og skræmeleg, kven held honom ut?
12 Now therefore, says the Lord your God, turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with lamentation:
Men no og det gjeld, so mæler Herren, vend um til meg med heile dykkar hjarta, med fasta og gråt og med klaga.
13 and rend your hearts, and not your garments, and turn to the Lord your God: for he is merciful and compassionate, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy, and repents of evils.
Riv sund dykkar hjarta og ei dykkar klæde, vend um til Herren dykkar Gud! For han er nådig og hugmild er han, hev tolugt sinn, er rik på miskunn, han angrar det vonde.
14 Who knows if he will return, and repent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meat-offering and a drink-offering to the Lord your God?
Ja, kven veit? Han snur og angrar, og han legg etter seg velsigning, grjon- og drykkoffer for Herren, dykkar Gud.
15 Sound the trumpet in Sion, sanctify a fast, proclaim a [solemn] service:
Blås i luren på Sion, haldt fastehelg, lys heilag samling!
16 gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the infants at the breast: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.
Samla folket! Vigsle lyden! Få i hop dei gamle, samla dei små, ja, borni på fanget! Brudgomen gange or sitt hus og bruri frå stova si!
17 Between the porch and the altar let the priests that minister to the Lord weep, and say, Spare your people, O Lord, and give not your heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them, lest they should say among the heathen, Where is their God?
Millom forhall og altar skal dei gråta prestarne, Herrens tenarar, og segja: «Spar, Herre, folket ditt, og ikkje du gjere din eigen lyd til eit spottord, til eit ordtak millom folki! Kvi skal dei segja millom folki: «Kvar er deira Gud?»»
18 But the Lord was jealous of his land, and spared his people.
Då gløddest Herren upp for sitt land, og han sparde sitt folk.
19 And the Lord answered and said to his people, Behold, I [will] send you corn, and wine, and oil, and you shall be satisfied with them: and I will no longer make you a reproach among the Gentiles.
Herren svara og tala til sitt folk: Sjå, eg vil senda til dykk både korn og saft og olje, so de kann mettast av det. Og ikkje vil eg gjera dykk meir til spott millom folki.
20 And I will chase away from you the northern [adversary], and will drive him away into a dry land, and I will sink his face in the former sea, and his back parts in the latter sea, and his ill savor shall come up, and his stink come up, because he has wrought great things.
Norderheren driv eg langt burt ifrå dykk. Eg skal støyta honom ut i eit turt og øyde land, hans fortropp til havet i aust, hans baktropp til havet i vest. Og vondt skal det dåma, ja ilt skal det tevja. For storverk hev han gjort.
21 Be of good courage, O land; rejoice and be glad: for the Lord has done great things.
Ikkje ottast, du land, men gled deg og ver sæl! For storverk hev Herren gjort.
22 Be of good courage, you beasts of the plain, for the plains of the wilderness have budded, for the trees have borne their fruit, the fig tree and the vine have yielded their strength.
Ikkje ottast, du fe på marki, for no grønast graset på heidi. Og trei ber frukt, fiketre, vintre gjev no si kraft.
23 Rejoice then and be glad, you children of Sion, in the Lord your God: for he has given you food fully, and he will rain on you the early and the latter rain, as before.
Og Sions søner, fagna og frygda dykk i Herren, dykkar Gud! For han gjev åt dykk læraren til rettferd; so sender han dykk haustregn og vårregn som fyrr.
24 And the floors shall be filled with corn, and the presses shall overflow with wine and oil.
Og fyllast skal låvarne med korn, og persorne fløyma med vinsaft og olje.
25 And I will recompense you for the years which the locust, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, and the cankerworm have eaten, [even] my great army, which I sent against you.
Og skadebot gjev eg for grøda som tyntest av grashoppen, bitaren, etaren, gnagaren, min store her, som eg sende imot dykk.
26 And you shall eat abundantly, and be satisfied, and shall praise the name of the Lord your God [for the things] which he has wrought wonderfully with you: and my people shall not be ashamed for ever.
Og de skal få nøgdi eta og mettast. Og då skal de lova namnet åt Herren dykkar Gud, han som hev underleg stelt med dykk, og ikkje skal folket mitt æveleg skjemmast.
27 And you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and [that] I am the Lord your God, and [that] there is none else beside me; and my people shall no more be ashamed for ever.
Og de skal merka at eg bur midt i Israel, og at eg er Herren, dykkar Gud, og ingen annan, og ikkje skal folket mitt æveleg skjemmast.
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.
Og sidan henda det skal: Eg renner min ande yver alt kjøt. Dykkar søner og døtter skal tala profetord; dei gamle hjå dykk skal draumar drøyma, gutarne dykkar skal syner sjå.
29 And on my servants and on [my] handmaids in those days will I pour out of my Spirit.
Ja, og yver trælar og trælekvende eg renner min ande i dagarne dei.
30 And I will show wonders in heaven, and upon the earth, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.
Under eg gjer på himmel og på jord, blod og eld og kvervlande røyk.
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord come.
Soli skal verta til myrker og månen til blod, fyrr han kjem, Herrens dag, den store og skræmelege.
32 And it shall come to pass [that] whoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved: for in mount Sion and in Jerusalem shall the saved one be as the Lord has said, and they that have glad tidings preached to them, whom the Lord has called.
Men kvar ein som kallar på Herrens namn, bergast skal han. For på Sions fjell og i Jerusalem skal finnast ein flokk av frelste som Herren hev sagt, og til den utfria flokken høyrer dei som Herren kallar.
