< Job 29 >

1 And Job continued and said in his parable,
Jòb tanmen pale ankò, li di:
2 Oh that I were as in months past, wherein God preserved me!
-Ki moun ki va fè m' viv tan lontan an, lè Bondye t'ap voye je sou mwen an?
3 As when his lamp shone over my head; when by his light I walked through darkness.
Lè sa a, Bondye te toujou la avèk mwen. Limyè li te klere anwo tèt mwen, li t'ap moutre m' kote pou m' mete pye m' nan fènwa a.
4 [As] when I steadfastly pursued my ways, when God took care of my house.
Nan tan sa a, tout zafè m' t'ap mache byen. Bondye te zanmi m'. Li t'ap pwoteje kay mwen.
5 When I was very fruitful, and my children were about me;
Bondye ki gen tout pouvwa a te toujou la avèk mwen. Mwen t'ap viv nan mitan tout pitit gason m' yo.
6 when my ways were moistened with butter, and the mountains flowed for me with milk.
Bèf ak kabrit mwen yo te konn bay anpil lèt. Pye oliv mwen yo te donnen menm nan tè wòch.
7 When I went forth early in the city, and the seat was placed for me in the streets.
Lè mwen parèt pòtay lavil la, lè mwen pran plas mwen nan mitan chèf fanmi yo,
8 The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and all the old men stood up.
wè yo wè m', jenn gason yo mete kò yo sou kote, granmoun yo leve kanpe pa respè pou mwen.
9 And the great men ceased speaking, and laid their finger on their mouth.
Notab yo sispann pale, yo fèmen bouch yo.
10 And they that heard [me] blessed me, and their tongue clave to their throat.
Ata chèf yo pa ka pale ankò! Lang yo vin lou nan bouch yo.
11 For the ear heard, and blessed me; and the eye saw me, and turned aside.
Tout moun ki te wè m' t'ap mache fè lwanj mwen, tout moun ki te tande m' te kontan avè m'.
12 For I saved the poor out of the hand of the oppressor, and helped the fatherless who had no helper.
Mwen lonje men bay pòv malere ki nan ka ansanm ak timoun san papa ki san sekou.
13 Let the blessing of the perishing one come upon me; yes, the mouth of the widow has blessed me.
Moun ki te nan pi gwo mizè t'ap fè lwanj mwen. Mwen te fè kè vèv yo kontan.
14 Also I put on righteousness, and clothed myself with judgment like a mantle.
Mwen te toujou fè sa ki dwat. Mwen pa t' janm nan patipri.
15 I was the eye of the blind, and the foot of the lame.
Se mwen ki te wè pou avèg yo. Se mwen ki te mache pou kokobe yo.
16 I was the father of the helpless; and I searched out the cause which I knew not.
Mwen te yon papa pou pòv malere yo. Mwen te kanpe pou defann kòz etranje yo.
17 And I broke the jaw teeth of the unrighteous; I plucked the spoil out of the midst of their teeth.
Mwen te kraze pouvwa malveyan yo. Mwen sove moun ki te anba men yo.
18 And I said, My age shall continue as the stem of a palm tree; I shall live a long while.
Mwen t'ap di nan kè m': M'a viv kont viv mwen. M'a mouri sou kabann mwen ak kè poze.
19 [My] root was spread out by the water, and the dew would lodge on my crop.
Mwen te tankou yon pyebwa plante bò larivyè. Sou tout branch li yo se lawouze.
20 My glory was fresh in me, and by bow prospered in his hand.
Moun pa ta janm sispann fè lwanj mwen. Mwen t'ap toujou gen tout fòs mwen sou mwen.
21 [Men] heard me, and gave heed, and they were silent at my counsel.
Lè m'ap pale, tout moun fèmen bouch yo. Yo louvri zòrèy yo, y'ap tann konsa konsèy m'ap bay.
22 At my word they spoke not again, and they were very gland whenever I spoke to them.
Pawòl mwen tonbe nan kè yo tankou grenn lapli. Lè m' fin pale, pesonn pa gen anyen pou di ankò.
23 As the thirsty earth expecting the rain, so they [waited for] my speech.
Yo t'ap tann mwen pale tankou tè sèk k'ap tann lapli. Yo rete bouch louvri pou ranmase sa m'ap di.
24 Were I to laugh on them, they would not believe [it]; and the light of my face has not failed.
Lè yo dekouraje, mwen fè yon ti ri ak yo. Sa te kont pou remoute kouraj yo.
25 I chose out their way, and sat chief, and lived as a king in the midst of warriors, as one comforting mourners.
Mwen te kanpe alatèt yo. Mwen mennen yo tankou yon wa k'ap mennen sòlda li yo. Mwen di yo sa pou yo fè. Mwen te ba yo kouraj lè yo nan lafliksyon.
