Esias 13
1 THE VISION WHICH ESAIAS SON OF AMOS SAW AGAINST BABYLON.
Oracle contre Babylone, qui fut révélé à Ésaïe, fils d'Amots.
2 Lift up a standard on the mountain of the plain, exalt the voice to them, beckon with the hand, open [the gates], you rulers.
Sur une montagne nue dressez un étendard, élevez la voix pour les appeler, agitez la main pour qu'ils envahissent les portes des tyrans!
3 I give command, and I bring them: giants are coming to fulfil my wrath, rejoicing at the same time and insulting.
Moi-même j'ai donné l'ordre à ma sainte milice, et j'ai appelé mes héros pour exécuter mes vengeances, ceux qui tressaillent fièrement pour moi.
4 A voice of many nations on the mountains, [even] like [to that] of many nations; a voice of kings and nations gathered together: the Lord of hosts has given command to a warlike nation,
On entend une rumeur sur les montagnes, comme celle d'un peuple nombreux; on entend le tumulte de royaumes, de peuples rassemblés: l'Éternel des armées fait la revue de sa milice guerrière.
5 to come from a land afar off, from the utmost foundation of heaven; the Lord and his warriors [are coming] to destroy all the world.
Ils arrivent d'un pays lointain, de l'extrémité des Cieux, l'Éternel et les instruments de sa vengeance, pour dévaster toute la terre.
6 Howl you, for the day of the Lord is near, and destruction from God shall arrive.
Gémissez! car la journée de l'Éternel est proche; comme une ruine de par le Tout-Puissant elle arrive.
7 Therefore every hand shall become powerless, and every soul of man shall be dismayed.
Aussi toutes les mains sont lâches, et le cœur de tout homme se fond.
8 The elders shall be troubled, and pangs shall seize them, as of a woman in travail: and they shall mourn one to another, and shall be amazed, and shall change their countenance as a flame.
Ils sont dans l'épouvante, saisis de douleurs et d'angoisses, ils souffrent les maux de la femme en travail; stupéfaits ils se regardent l'un l'autre, leur visage a l'aspect de la flamme.
9 For behold! the day of the Lord is coming which can’t be escaped, [a day] of wrath and anger, to make the world desolate, and to destroy sinners out of it.
Voici, la journée de l'Éternel arrive cruelle, avec la fureur et l'ardente colère, pour faire de la terre une solitude, et Il en exterminera les pécheurs.
10 For the stars of heaven, and Orion, and all the host of heaven, shall not give their light; and it shall be dark at sunrise, and the moon shall not give her light.
Car les étoiles du Ciel et ses astres ne font plus briller leur lumière, le soleil s'obscurcit à son lever, et la lune ne fait plus luire sa lumière.
11 And I will command evils for the whole world, and [will visit] their sins on the ungodly: and I will destroy the pride of transgressors, and will bring low the pride of the haughty.
Et je punirai le monde de sa méchanceté, et les impies de leurs crimes; et je mettrai fin à l'orgueil des superbes, et j'humilierai la hauteur des tyrans.
12 And they that are left shall be more precious than gold tried in the fire; and a man shall be more precious than the stone that is in Suphir.
Je rendrai les hommes plus rares que l'or fin, et les humains que les trésors d'Ophir.
13 For the heaven shall be enraged, and the earth shall be shaken from her foundation, because of the fierce anger of the Lord of hosts, in the day in which his wrath shall come on.
C'est pourquoi je ferai trembler les Cieux, et la terre sera ébranlée sur sa base, lors du courroux de l'Éternel des armées, et au jour de son ardente colère.
14 And they that are left shall be as a fleeing fawn, and as a stray sheep, and there shall be none to gather [them]: so that a man shall turn back to his people, and a man shall flee to his own land.
Alors, tel qu'une gazelle effarouchée et qu'une brebis que nul ne recueille, chacun se dirigera vers son peuple, et chacun fuira dans son pays.
15 For whoever shall be taken shall be overcome; and they that are gathered together shall fall by the sword.
Quiconque sera trouvé, sera percé, et quiconque sera saisi, périra par l'épée.
16 And they shall dash their children before their eyes; and they shall spoil their houses, and shall take their wives.
Et leurs enfants seront écrasés sous leurs yeux, leurs maisons seront pillées et leurs femmes violées.
17 Behold, I will stir up against you the Medes, who do not regard silver, neither have they need of gold.
Voici, je fais lever contre eux les Mèdes qui ne tiennent pas compte de l'argent, et n'ont nul penchant pour l'or.
18 They shall break the bows of the young men; and they shall have no mercy on your children; nor shall their eyes spare your children.
Et leurs arcs mettront les jeunes gens en pièces, pour le fruit porté dans le sein ils seront sans pitié, et pour les enfants ils ne s'attendriront point.
19 And Babylon, which is called glorious by the king of the Chaldeans, shall be as [when] God overthrew Sodoma, and Gomorrha.
Et Babel, l'ornement des empires, la pompe orgueilleuse des Chaldéens, sera comme Sodome et Gomorrhe que Dieu bouleversa.
20 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall any enter into it for many generations: neither shall the Arabians pass through it; nor shall shepherds at all rest in it.
Elle ne sera plus jamais habitée, plus peuplée d'âge en âge; l'Arabe n'y placera plus sa tente, ni les bergers leur parc.
21 But wild beasts shall rest there; and the houses shall be filled with howling; and monsters shall rest there, and devils shall dance there, and satyrs shall dwell there; and hedgehogs shall make their nests in their houses. It will come soon, and will not wait.
Et elle sera le parc des bêtes du désert, et les hiboux rempliront ses maisons, et les autruches y prendront leur gîte, et les satyres y danseront.
Et dans leurs palais les hyènes s'entre-répondront, et les chacals dans leurs maisons de plaisance. Et son temps est proche, et le délai ne sera pas prolongé pour elle.
