Exodus 5

1 And after this went in Moses and Aaron to Pharao, and they said to him, These things says the Lord God of Israel, Send my people away, that they may keep a feast to me in the wilderness.

௧பின்பு, மோசேயும் ஆரோனும் பார்வோனிடம் போய்: “இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா வனாந்திரத்திலே எனக்குப் பண்டிகை கொண்டாடும்படி என்னுடைய மக்களைப் போகவிடவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லுகிறார்” என்றார்கள்.

2 And Pharao said, Who is he that I should listen to his voice, so that I should send away the children of Israel? I do not know the Lord, and I will not let Israel go.

௨அதற்குப் பார்வோன்: “நான் இஸ்ரவேலைப் போகவிடக் யெகோவாவின் வார்த்தையைக் கேட்கிறதற்கு அவர் யார்? எனக்கு யெகோவாவை தெரியாது; நான் இஸ்ரவேலைப் போகவிடமாட்டேன்” என்றான்.

3 And they say to him, The God of the Hebrews has called us to him: we will go therefore a three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God, lest at any time death or slaughter happen to us.

௩அப்பொழுது அவர்கள்: “எபிரெயர்களுடைய தேவன் எங்களைச் சந்தித்தார்; நாங்கள் வனாந்திரத்தில் மூன்றுநாட்கள் பயணமாக போய், எங்கள் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவிற்கு பலியிடும்படி போகவிடவேண்டும்; போகாமலிருந்தால், அவர் கொள்ளைநோயையும், பட்டயத்தையும் எங்கள்மேல் வரச்செய்வார்” என்றார்கள்.

4 And the king of Egypt said to them, Why do you, Moses and Aaron, turn the people from their works? depart each of you to your works.

௪எகிப்தின் ராஜா அவர்களை நோக்கி: “மோசேயும் ஆரோனுமாகிய நீங்கள் மக்களைத் தங்களுடைய வேலைகளைவிட்டுக் கலையச்செய்கிறது என்ன? உங்கள் சுமைகளைச் சுமக்கப்போங்கள்” என்றான்.

5 And Pharao said, Behold now, the people is very numerous; let us not then give them rest from their work.

௫பின்னும் பார்வோன்: “இதோ, தேசத்தில் மக்கள் மிகுதியாக இருக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் சுமை சுமக்கிறதைவிட்டு ஓய்ந்திருக்கும்படி செய்கிறீர்களே” என்றான்.

6 And Pharao gave orders to the taskmasters of the people and the accountants, saying,

௬அன்றியும், அந்த நாளிலே பார்வோன் மக்களின் மேற்பார்வையாளர்களையும் அவர்களுடைய தலைவர்களையும் நோக்கி:

7 You shall no longer give straw to the people for brick-making as yesterday and the third day; but let them go themselves, and collect straw for themselves.

௭“செங்கல் வேலைக்கு நீங்கள் முன்போல இனி மக்களுக்கு வைக்கோல் கொடுக்கவேண்டாம்; அவர்கள் தாங்களே போய்த் தங்களுக்கு வைக்கோல் சேர்க்கட்டும்.

8 And you shall impose on them daily the rate of brick-making which they perform: you shall not abate anything, for they are idle; therefore have they cried, saying, Let us arise and do sacrifice to our God.

௮அவர்கள் முன்பு செய்துகொடுத்த கணக்கின்படியே செங்கல் செய்யும்படி சொல்லுங்கள்; அதிலே நீங்கள் ஒன்றும் குறைக்கவேண்டாம், அவர்கள் சோம்பேறிகளாக இருக்கிறார்கள்; அதினால் நாங்கள் போய் எங்களுடைய தேவனுக்குப் பலியிடுவோம் என்று கூக்குரலிடுகிறார்கள்.

9 Let the works of these men be made grievous, and let them care for these things, and not care for vain words.

௯அந்த மனிதர்கள்மேல் முன்பைவிட அதிக வேலையைச் சுமத்துங்கள், அதில் அவர்கள் கஷ்டப்படட்டும்; அவர்கள் வீண்வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்கவிடாதீர்கள்” என்று கட்டளையிட்டான்.

10 And the taskmasters and the accountants hastened them, and they spoke to the people, saying, thus says Pharao, I [will] give you straw no longer.

௧0அப்பொழுது மக்களின் மேற்பார்வையாளர்களும் அவர்கள் தலைவர்களும் புறப்பட்டுப்போய் மக்களை நோக்கி: “உங்களுக்கு வைக்கோல் கொடுப்பதில்லை;

11 Go you, yourselves, get for yourselves straw whenever you can find it, for nothing is diminished from your rate.

௧௧நீங்களே போய் உங்களுக்கு கிடைக்கிற இடங்களில் வைக்கோல் சேகரியுங்கள்; ஆனாலும் உங்களுடைய வேலையில் ஒன்றும் குறைக்கப்படுவதில்லை என்று பார்வோன் சொல்லுகிறார்” என்றார்கள்.

12 So the people were dispersed in all the land of Egypt, to gather stubble for straw.

௧௨அப்பொழுது வைக்கோலுக்குப் பதிலாக அதின் தாளடிகளைச் சேர்க்கும்படி மக்கள் எகிப்துதேசம் எங்கும் அலைந்து திரிந்தார்கள்.

13 and the taskmasters hastened them, saying, Fulfil your regular daily tasks, even as when straw was given you.

௧௩மேற்பார்வையாளர்கள் அவர்களை நோக்கி: வைக்கோல் இருந்த நாளில் செய்தபடியே உங்கள் வேலைகளை ஒவ்வொரு நாளிலும் செய்து முடியுங்கள் என்று சொல்லி, அவர்களைத் அவசரப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

14 And the accountants of the race of the children of Israel, who were set over them by the masters of Pharao, were scourged, [[and questioned, ] men] saying, Why have you not fulfilled your rates of brick work as yesterday and the third day, today also?

௧௪பார்வோனுடைய மேற்பார்வையாளர்கள் இஸ்ரவேலர்கள் மேல்வைத்த அவர்களுடைய தலைவர்களை நோக்கி: “செங்கல் வேலையில் நீங்கள் முன்பு செய்ததுபோல நேற்றும் இன்றும் ஏன் செய்யவில்லை” என்று கேட்டு, அவர்களை அடித்தார்கள்.

15 And the accountants of the children of Israel went in and cried to Pharao, saying, Why do you act thus to your servants?

௧௫அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலர்களின் தலைவர்கள் பார்வோனிடம் போய் கூக்குரலிட்டு: “உமது அடியார்களுக்கு நீர் இப்படிச் செய்கிறது என்ன?

16 Straw is not given to your servants, and they tell us to make brick; and behold your servants have been scourged: you will therefore injure your people.

௧௬உமது அடியார்களுக்கு வைக்கோல் கொடுக்காமல் இருந்தும், செங்கல் அறுக்கவேண்டும் என்று எங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறார்கள்; உம்முடைய மக்களிடம் குற்றம் இருக்க, உமது அடியார்களாகிய நாங்கள் அடிக்கப்படுகிறோம்” என்றார்கள்.

17 And he said to them, You are idle, you are idlers: therefore you say, Let us go [and] do sacrifice to our God.

௧௭அதற்கு அவன்: “நீங்கள் சோம்பேறிகளாக இருக்கிறீர்கள்; அதினால்தான் போகவேண்டும், யெகோவாவுக்குப் பலியிடவேண்டும் என்கிறீர்கள்.

18 Now then go and work, for straw shall not be given to you, yet you shall return the rate of bricks.

௧௮போய், வேலை செய்யுங்கள், உங்களுக்கு வைக்கோல் கொடுக்கப்படுவதில்லை; ஆனாலும் கணக்கின்படியே நீங்கள் செங்கலை அறுத்துக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்” என்றான்.

19 And the accountants of the children of Israel saw themselves in an evil plight, [men] saying, You shall not fail to deliver the daily rate of the brick-making.

௧௯நீங்கள் ஒவ்வொரு நாளிலும் அறுக்கவேண்டிய செங்கலிலே ஒன்றும் குறைக்கக்கூடாது என்று சொல்லப்பட்டதால், இஸ்ரவேலர்களின் தலைவர்கள் தங்களுக்கு இக்கட்டு வந்தது என்று கண்டார்கள்.

20 And they met Moses and Aaron coming forth to meet them, as they came forth from Pharao.

௨0அவர்கள் பார்வோனுடைய சமுகத்தை விட்டுப் புறப்படும்போது, வழியில் நின்ற மோசேக்கும் ஆரோனுக்கும் எதிர்ப்பட்டு,

21 And they said to them, The Lord look upon you and judge you, for you have made our savor abominable before Pharao, and before his servants, to put a sword into his hands to kill us.

௨௧அவர்களை நோக்கி: “நீங்கள் பார்வோனின் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகவும் அவருடைய வேலைக்காரர்களின் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகவும் எங்களுடைய வாசனையைக் கெடுத்து, எங்களைக் கொல்லும்படி அவர்களுடைய கையிலே பட்டயத்தைக் கொடுத்ததால், யெகோவா உங்களைப் பார்த்து நியாயம் தீர்க்கக்கடவர்” என்றார்கள்.

22 And Moses turned to the Lord, and said, I pray, Lord, why have you afflicted this people? and therefore have you sent me?

௨௨அப்பொழுது மோசே யெகோவாவிடம் திரும்பிப்போய்: “ஆண்டவரே, இந்த மக்களுக்குத் தீங்குவரச்செய்ததென்ன? ஏன் என்னை அனுப்பினீர்?

23 For from the time that I went to Pharao to speak in your name, he has afflicted this people, and you have not delivered your people.

௨௩நான் உமது நாமத்தைக்கொண்டு பேசும்படி பார்வோனிடம் சென்றதுமுதல் அவன் இந்த மக்களை உபத்திரவப்படுத்துகிறான்; நீர் உம்முடைய மக்களை விடுதலையாக்கவில்லையே” என்றான்.
