Deuteronomy 29
1 These [are] the words of the covenant, which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Choreb.
Estas son las palabras del concierto que mandó Jehová a Moisés, para que concertase con los hijos de Israel en la tierra de Moab, allende del concierto que concertó con ellos en Horeb.
2 And Moses called all the sons of Israel and said to them, You have seen all things that the Lord did in the land of Egypt before you to Pharao and his servants, and all his land;
Moisés pues llamó a todo Israel, y díjoles: Vosotros habéis visto todo lo que Jehová ha hecho delante de vuestros ojos en la tierra de Egipto a Faraón y a todos sus siervos, y a toda su tierra:
3 the great temptations which your eyes have seen, the signs, and those great wonders.
Las pruebas grandes que vieron tus ojos, las señales, y las grandes maravillas.
4 Yet the Lord God has not given you a heart to know, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, until this day.
Y Jehová no os dio corazón para entender, ni ojos para ver, ni oídos para oír, hasta hoy.
5 And he led you forty years in the wilderness; your garments did not grow old, and your sandals were not worn away off your feet.
Y yo os he traído cuarenta años por el desierto, que vuestros vestidos no se han envejecido sobre vosotros, ni tu zapato se ha envejecido sobre tu pie.
6 You did not eat bread, you did not drink wine or strong drink, that you might know that I [am] the Lord your God.
Nunca comisteis pan, ni bebisteis vino ni sidra, porque supieseis que yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios.
7 And you came as far as this place; and there came forth Seon king of Esebon, and Og king of Basan, to meet us in war.
Y llegasteis a este lugar, y salió Sejón rey de Jesebón, y Og rey de Basán delante de nosotros para pelear, y herímoslos:
8 And we struck them and took their land, and I gave it for an inheritance to Ruben and Gad, and to the half-tribe of Manasse.
Y tomamos su tierra, y dímosla por heredad a Rubén y a Gad, y a la media tribu de Manasés.
9 And you shall take heed to do all the words of this covenant, that you may understand all things that you shall do.
Guardaréis pues las palabras de este concierto, y hacerlas heis, para que seáis prosperados en todo lo que hiciereis.
10 You all stand today before the Lord your God, the heads of your tribes, and your elders, and your judges, and your officers, every man of Israel,
Vosotros todos estáis hoy delante de Jehová vuestro Dios, vuestros príncipes de vuestras tribus, vuestros ancianos, y vuestros alcaldes, todos los varones de Israel:
11 your wives, and your children, and the stranger who is in the midst of your camp, from your hewer of wood even to your drawer of water,
Vuestros niños, vuestras mujeres, y tus extranjeros que habitan en medio de tu campo, desde el que corta tu leña hasta el que saca tus aguas:
12 that you should enter into the covenant of the Lord your God and into his oaths, as many as the Lord your God appoints you this day;
Para que entres en el concierto de Jehová tu Dios y en su juramento, que Jehová tu Dios concierta hoy contigo:
13 that he may appoint you to himself for a people, and he shall be your God, as he said to you, and as he sware to your fathers, Abraam, and Isaac, and Jacob.
Para confirmarte hoy por su pueblo, y que él te sea a ti por Dios, de la manera que él te ha dicho, y de la manera que él juró a tus padres Abraham, Isaac, y Jacob.
14 And I do not appoint to you alone this covenant and this oath;
Y no con vosotros solos concierto yo este concierto, y este juramento,
15 but to those also who are here with you today before the Lord your God, and to those who are not here with you today.
Mas con los que están aquí estantes hoy con nosotros delante de Jehová nuestro Dios, y con los que no están aquí hoy con nosotros.
16 For you know how we lived in the land of Egypt, how we came through the midst of the nations through whom you came.
Porque vosotros sabéis como habitamos en la tierra de Egipto, y como hemos pasado por medio de las gentes que habéis pasado;
17 And you saw their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which are among them.
Y habéis visto sus abominaciones, y sus ídolos, madera y piedra, plata y oro, que tienen consigo.
18 Lest there be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart has turned aside from the Lord your God, having gone to serve the gods of these nations; lest there be in you a root springing up with gall and bitterness.
Quizá habrá entre vosotros varón o mujer, o familia o tribu, cuyo corazón se vuelva hoy de con Jehová nuestro Dios por andar a servir a los dioses de aquellas gentes: quizá habrá en vosotros raíz que eche veneno y ajenjo:
19 And it shall be if one shall hear the words of this curse, and shall flatter himself in his heart, saying, Let good happen to me, for I will walk in the error of my heart, lest the sinner destroy the guiltless with [him]:
Y sea, que cuando el tal oyere las palabras de esta maldición, él se bendiga en su corazón, diciendo: Paz habré, aunque ande según el pensamiento de mi corazón, para añadir la embriaguez a la sed.
20 God shall by no means be willing to pardon him, but then the wrath of the Lord and his jealousy shall flame out against that man; and all the curses of this covenant shall attach themselves to him, which are written in this book, and the Lord shall blot out his name from under heaven.
Jehová no querrá perdonar al tal, que luego humeará el furor de Jehová y su zelo sobre el tal hombre, y acostarse ha sobre él toda maldición escrita en este libro, y Jehová raerá su nombre de debajo del cielo.
21 And the Lord shall separate that man for evil of all the children of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in the book of this law.
Y apartarle ha Jehová de todas las tribus de Israel para mal, conforme a todas las maldiciones del concierto escrito en este libro de la ley.
22 And another generation shall say—even your sons who shall rise up after you, and the stranger who shall come from a land afar off, and shall see the plagues of that land and their diseases, which the Lord has sent upon it,
Y dirá la generación venidera, vuestros hijos que vendrán después de vosotros, y el extranjero que vendrá de lejanas tierras, cuando vieren las plagas de aquesta tierra y sus enfermedades de que Jehová la hizo enfermar,
23 brimstone and burning salt, (the whole land shall not be sown, neither shall any green thing spring, nor rise upon it, as Sodom and Gomorrha were overthrown, Adama and Seboim, which the Lord overthrew in his wrath and anger: )—
(Azufre y sal, quemada toda su tierra: no será sembrada, ni producirá, ni crecerá en ella yerba ninguna, como en la subversión de Sodoma y de Gomorra, de Adma y de Seboim, que Jehová subvertió en su furor en su ira.)
24 and all the nations shall say, Why has the Lord done thus to this land? what [is] this great fierceness of anger?
Y dirán todas las gentes: ¿Por qué hizo Jehová esto a esta tierra? ¿Qué ira es esta de tan gran furor?
25 And [men] shall say, Because they forsook the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers, the things which he appointed to their fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt:
Y respondérseles ha: Por cuanto dejaron el concierto de Jehová el Dios de sus padres que el concertó con ellos, cuando les sacó de tierra de Egipto,
26 and they went and served other gods, which they knew not, neither did he assign [them] to them.
Y fueron, y sirvieron a dioses ajenos, e inclináronse a ellos; dioses que no conocieron, y que ninguna cosa les habían dado.
27 And the Lord was exceedingly angry with that land to bring upon it according to all the curses which are written in the book of this law.
Y el furor de Jehová se encendió contra esta tierra, para traer sobre ella todas las maldiciones escritas en este libro.
28 And the Lord removed them from their land in anger, and wrath, and very great indignation, and cast them out into another land as at present.
Y Jehová los desarraigó de su tierra con enojo y con saña, y con furor grande, y los echó a otra tierra, como parece hoy.
29 The secret things [belong] to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed [belong] to us and to our children for ever, to do all the words of this law.
Las cosas secretas pertenecen a Jehová nuestro Dios: mas las reveladas son para nosotros y para nuestros hijos para siempre, para que hagamos todas las palabras de esta ley.
