Amos 6
1 Woe to them that set at nothing Sion, and that trust in the mountain of Samaria: they have gathered [the harvest of] the heads of the nations, and they have gone in themselves.
Wehe den Sorglosen zu Zion und den Sichern auf dem Berge Samaria, den Vornehmsten des ersten der Völker, zu denen das Haus Israel kommt!
2 O house of Israel, pass by all [of you], and see; and pass by thence to Ematrabba; and thence descend to Geth of the Philistines, the chief of all these kingdoms, [see] if their coasts are greater than your coasts.
Geht hinüber nach Kalne und seht es euch an und kommt dann von dort nach dem großen Hamat; steigt auch hinab nach Gat im Philisterland! Seid ihr besser als diese Königreiche, oder ist ihr Gebiet größer als euer Gebiet?
3 You who are approaching the evil day, who are drawing near and adopting false sabbaths;
Ihr meinet, der böse Tag sei fern und rücket den Thron der Gewalttat heran!
4 who sleep upon beds of ivory, and live delicately on their couches, and eat kids out of the flocks, and sucking calves out of the midst of the stalls;
Ihr schlafet auf elfenbeinernen Betten und strecket euch aus auf euren Polstern; ihr verzehret Lämmer von der Herde weg und Kälber frisch aus dem Stall!
5 who excel in the sound of musical instruments; they have regarded them as dwelling, not as fleeting [pleasures];
Sie phantasieren auf der Harfe und dichten sich selbst Lieder wie David!
6 who drink strained wine, and anoint themselves with the best ointment; and have suffered nothing on occasion of the calamity of Joseph.
Sie trinken Wein aus Schalen und salben sich mit dem besten Öl; aber um den Schaden Josephs kümmern sie sich nicht!
7 Therefore now shall they depart into captivity from the dominion of princes, and the neighing of horses shall be cut off from Ephraim.
Darum sollen sie nun an der Spitze der Gefangenen in die Verbannung wandern, und das Jauchzen der Schlemmer wird verstummen.
8 For the Lord has sworn by himself, [saying], Because I abhor all the pride of Jacob, I do also hate his countries, and I will cut off [his] city with all who inhabit it.
Gott, der HERR, hat geschworen: So wahr ich lebe, spricht der HERR, der Gott der Heerscharen, ich verabscheue Jakobs Stolz und hasse seine Paläste; darum gebe ich die Stadt preis, samt allem, was darin ist.
9 And it shall come to pass, if there be ten men left in one house, that they shall die.
Und wenn gleich zehn Männer in einem Hause übrigbleiben, so sollen sie sterben.
10 But a remnant shall be left behind, and their relations shall take them, and shall strenuously endeavor to carry forth their bones from the house: and one shall say to the heads of the house, Is there yet [any one] else with you? And he shall say, No [one] else. And [the other] shall say, Be silent, that you name not the name of the Lord.
Und heben dann sein Oheim und sein Leichenverbrenner den Toten auf, um die Gebeine aus dem Hause zu schaffen, und fragt er den drinnen im Hause: «Ist noch jemand bei dir?» so wird er antworten: «Niemand mehr!» Dann wird er sagen: «Still! Denn der Name des HERRN soll nicht erwähnt werden!»
11 For, behold, the Lord commands, and he will strike the great house with breaches, and the little house with rents.
Denn siehe, der HERR wird Befehl geben, daß das große Haus in Trümmer gelegt und das kleine Haus in Stücke geschlagen werde.
12 Will horses run upon rocks? will they refrain from neighing at mares? for you have turned judgment into poison, and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness:
Können Rosse auf Felsen rennen, oder kann man mit Rindern das Meer pflügen, da ihr das Recht in Gift verwandelt habt und die Frucht der Gerechtigkeit in Wermut,
13 you who rejoice at vanity, who say, Have we not possessed horns by our own strength?
und da ihr euch dessen freuet, was nicht der Rede wert ist, und saget: «Haben wir nicht mit eigener Kraft uns Hörner verschafft?»
14 For behold, O house of Israel, I will raise up against you a nation, says the Lord of hosts; and they shall afflict you so that you shall not enter into Aemath, and as it were [from] the river of the wilderness.
Doch seht, ich erwecke wider euch, Haus Israel (spricht der HERR, der Gott der Heerscharen), ein Volk, das euch bedrängen wird von da, wo es nach Hamat geht, bis an den Bach der Wüste.
