Kings I 6
1 And the ark was seven months in the country of the Philistines, and their land brought forth swarms of mice.
Hòm của Đức Giê-hô-va ở bảy tháng trong xứ dân Phi-li-tin.
2 And the Philistines call their priests, and their prophets, and their enchanters, saying, What shall we do to the ark of the Lord? teach us wherewith we shall send it away to its place.
Đoạn, dân Phi-li-tin gọi những thầy cả và thuật sĩ, mà hỏi rằng: Chúng ta phải làm chi về hòm của Đức Giê-hô-va? Hãy nói cho chúng ta biết cách nào phải trả hòm ấy về nơi cũ.
3 And they said, If you send away the ark of the covenant of the Lord God of Israel, do not on any account send it away empty, but by all means render to it an offering for the plague; and then shall you be healed, and an atonement shall be made for you: should not his hand be [thus] stayed from off you?
Chúng nó đáp; Nếu các ngươi gởi hòm của Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên về, thì chớ gởi đi không; nhưng phải trả cho Đức Giê-hô-va của lễ chuộc lỗi, rồi các ngươi sẽ được chữa lành, và biết tại cớ sao Ngài không ngừng giáng họa trên các ngươi.
4 And they say, What [is] the offering for the plague [which] we shall return to it? and they said,
Chúng nó hỏi: Của lễ chi chúng ta phải trả cho Ngài đặng chuộc lỗi? Đáp rằng: Năm cái hình trĩ lậu bằng vàng, và năm con chuột bằng vàng, theo số quan trưởng của dân Phi-li-tin, vì hết thảy các ngươi, và các quan trưởng của các ngươi đều bị đồng một tai họa.
5 According to the number of the lords of the Philistines, five golden tumors, for the plague was on you, and on your rulers, and on the people; and golden mice, the likeness of the mice that destroy your land: and you shall give glory to the Lord, that he may lighten his hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.
Hãy làm các hình trĩ lậu, và những hình con chuột vẫn phá xứ sở, rồi tôn vinh Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên; có lẽ Ngài sẽ nhẹ tay trên các ngươi, trên thần và xứ của các ngươi.
6 And why do you harden your hearts, as Egypt and Pharao hardened their hearts? [was it] not [so] when he mocked them, [that] they let the people go, and they departed?
Sao các ngươi cứng lòng như dân Ê-díp-tô và Pha-ra-ôn đã làm? Sau khi Đức Giê-hô-va đã thi hành quyền năng trên dân Ê-díp-tô, họ há chẳng để cho Y-sơ-ra-ên đi sao?
7 And now take wood and make a new wagon, and take two cows, that have calved for the first time, without their calves; and do you yoke the cows to the wagon, and lead away the calves from behind them home.
Hè, hãy đóng một cái xe mới, và bắt hai con bò cái còn cho bú, chưa mang ách, thắng nó vào xe, rồi dẫn các con nhỏ chúng nó vào chuồng.
8 And you shall take the ark and put it on the wagon; and you shall restore to it the golden articles for the trespass-offering in a coffer by the side of it: and you shall let it go, and sent it away, and you shall depart.
Kế đó, hãy lấy hòm của Đức Giê-hô-va để lên trên xe, rồi trong một cái trắp những đồ bằng vàng mà các ngươi sẽ dâng trả cho Đức Giê-hô-va làm của lễ chuộc lỗi và đặt nó gần bên hông. Đoạn, hãy để cho cái hòm đi,
9 And you shall see, if it shall go the way of its coasts along by Baethsamys, he has brought upon us this great affliction; and if not, then shall we know that his hand has not touched us, but this [is a] chance [which] has happened to us.
và xem chừng. Nếu nó đi lên về phía xứ nó, tức về hướng Bết-Sê-mết, thì ắt là Đức Giê-hô-va đã giáng họa lớn nầy trên chúng ta; bằng không, chúng ta sẽ biết chẳng phải tay Ngài đã hành hại chúng ta, nhưng các điều đó xảy đến tình cờ đó thôi.
10 And the Philistines did so; and they took two cows that had calved for the first time, and yoked them to the waggon, and shut up their calves at home.
Người Phi-li-tin đều làm như vậy, bắt hai con bò cái còn cho bú, thắng vào một cái xe, rồi nhốt các con nhỏ chúng nó trong chuồng.
11 And they set the ark of the Lord, and the coffer, and the golden mice, on the waggon.
Chúng để hòm của Đức Giê-hô-va lên trên xe luôn với cái trắp có con chuột bằng vàng, và hình trĩ lậu.
12 And the cows went straight on the way to the way of Baethsamys, they went along one track; and laboured, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left, and the lords of the Philistines went after it as far as the coasts of Baethsamys.
Hai con bò cái đi thẳng theo đường về Bết-Sê-mết, vừa đi vừa rống, không xây bên hữu, cũng không xây bên tả. Các quan trưởng dân Phi-li-tin đi theo nó cho đến bờ cõi Bết-Sê-mết.
13 And the men of Baethsamys were reaping the wheat harvest in the valley; and they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark of the Lord, and rejoiced to meet it.
Bấy giờ, dân Bết-Sê-mết đang gặt lúa mì trong trũng, ngước mắt lên thấy cái hòm, thì lấy làm vui mừng.
14 And the waggon entered into the field of Osee, which was in Baethsamys, and they set there by it a great stone; and they split the wood of the waggon, and offered up the cows for a whole burnt offering to the Lord.
Cái xe đến trong ruộng của Giô-suê tại Bết-Sê-mết và dừng lại đó. Nơi ấy có một hòn đá lớn, người ta bèn bửa gỗ của xe, và dâng hai bò cái làm của lễ thiêu cho Đức Giê-hô-va.
15 And the Levites brought up the ark of the Lord, and the coffer with it, and the golden articles upon it, and placed them on the great stone, and the men of Baethsamys offered whole burnt offerings and meat offerings on that day to the Lord.
Người Lê-vi cất hòm của Đức Giê-hô-va xuống khỏi xe, luôn với cái trắp ở bên đựng những vật bằng vàng, và để trên hòn đá lớn. Trong ngày đó, người Bết-Sê-mết dâng những của lễ thiêu và các của tế lễ khác cho Đức Giê-hô-va.
16 And the five lords of the Philistines saw, and returned to Ascalon in that day.
Năm quan trưởng của dân Phi-li-tin đã thấy điều đó, thì nội ngày trở về Eùc-rôn.
17 And these [are] the golden tumors which the lords of the Philistines gave as a trespass-offering to the Lord; for Azotus one, for Gaza one, for Ascalon one, for Geth one, for Accaron one.
Nầy là số hình trĩ lậu bằng vàng mà dân Phi-li-tin dâng trả cho Đức Giê-hô-va làm của lễ chuộc lỗi: một cái của Aùch-đốt, một cái của Ga-xa, một cái của Aùch-kê-lôn, một cái của Gát, một cái của Eùc-rôn.
18 And the golden mice according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines, belonging to the five lords, from the fenced city to the village of the Pherezite, and to the great stone, on which they placed the ark of the covenant of the Lord, that was in the field of Osee the Baethsamysite.
Chúng nó lại dâng trả thêm hình con chuột vàng bằng bao nhiêu số thành Phi-li-tin thuộc về năm quan trưởng, hoặc thành kiên cố hay là làng nhà quê. Hòn đá lớn ấy, là nơi người ta để hòm của Đức Giê-hô-va; nó ở tại trong ruộng của Giô-suê, người Bết-Sê-mết, làm kỷ niệm về điều đó cho đến ngày nay.
19 And the sons of Jechonias were not pleased with the men of Baethsamys, because they saw the ark of the Lord; and [the Lord] struck among them seventy men, and fifty thousand men: and the people mourned, because the Lord had inflicted on the people, a very great plague.
Đức Giê-hô-va hành hại dân Bết-Sê-mết, vì chúng nó có nhìn vào hòm của Đức Giê-hô-va; Ngài hành hại bảy mươi người của dân sự. Dân sự đều để tang vì Đức Giê-hô-va đã hành hại họ một tai vạ rất nặng.
20 And the men of Baethsamys said, Who shall be able to pass before this holy Lord God? and to whom shall the ark of the Lord go up from us?
Bấy giờ, dân Bết-Sê-mết nói: Ai có thể đứng nổi trước mặt Giê-hô-va là Đức Chúa Trời chí thánh? Khi hòm lìa khỏi chúng ta, thì sẽ đi đến ai?
21 And they send messengers to the inhabitants of Cariathiarim, saying, The Philistines have brought back the ark of the Lord, go down and take it home to yourselves.
Chúng nó sai sứ đến dân Ki-ri-át-Giê-a-rim mà nói rằng: Dân Phi-li-tin đã đem hòm của Đức Giê-hô-va về, hãy đi xuống đem nó về nơi các ngươi.
