Kings III 5
1 And Chiram king of Tyre sent his servants to anoint Solomon in the room of David his father, because Chiram always loved David.
Hirão, rei de Tiro, enviou seus servos a Salomão, quando ouviu que tinham ungido por rei em lugar de seu pai; porque Hirão sempre havia amado a Davi.
2 And Solomon sent to Chiram, saying,
Então Salomão enviou a dizer a Hirão:
3 You knew my father David, that he could not build a house to the name of the Lord my God because of the wars that compassed him about, until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet.
Tu sabes como meu pai Davi não pôde edificar uma casa ao nome do SENHOR, seu Deus, por causa das guerras que o cercaram, até que o SENHOR pôs os seus inimigos debaixo das plantas de seus pés.
4 And now the Lord my God has given me rest round about; there is no one plotting against [me], and there is no evil trespass [against me].
Porém agora o SENHOR, meu Deus, me deu repouso por todos os lados; nem há adversários, nem encontro mal algum.
5 And, behold, I intend to build a house to the name of the Lord my God, as the Lord God spoke to my father David, saying, Your son whom I will set on your throne in your place, he shall build a house to my name.
Eu, portanto, decidi edificar uma casa ao nome do SENHOR, meu Deus, como o SENHOR o falou ao meu pai Davi, dizendo: Teu filho, que eu porei em teu lugar no teu trono, ele edificará uma casa ao meu nome.
6 And now command, and let [men] cut wood for me out of Libanus: and, behold, my servants [shall be] with your servants, and I will give you the wages of your service, according to all that you shall say, because you know that we have no one skilled in cutting timber like the Sidonians.
Manda, pois, agora, que me cortem cedros do Líbano; e meus servos estarão com os teus servos, e eu te darei o salário dos teus servos conforme a tudo o que disseres; porque tu sabes que ninguém há entre nós que saiba cortar a madeira como os sidônios.
7 And it came to pass, as soon as Chiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed [be] God today, who has given to David a wise son over this numerous people.
E quando Hirão ouviu as palavras de Salomão, alegrou-se em grande maneira, e disse: Bendito seja hoje o SENHOR, que deu filho sábio a Davi sobre este povo tão grande.
8 And he sent to Solomon, saying, I have listened concerning all that you have sent to me for: I will do all your will: [as for] timber of cedar and fir,
E enviou Hirão a dizer a Salomão: Ouvi o que me mandaste a dizer: eu farei tudo o que te satisfizer acerca da madeira de cedro, e a madeira de faia.
9 my servants shall bring them down from Libanus to the sea: I will form them [into] rafts, [and bring them] to the place which you shall send to me [about]; and I will land them there, and you shall take [them] up: and you shall do my will, in giving bread to my household.
Meus servos a levarão desde o Líbano à mar; e eu a porei em balsas pelo mar até o lugar que tu me assinalares, e ali se desatará, e tu a tomarás: e tu farás minha vontade em dar de comer à minha família.
10 So Chiram gave to Solomon cedars, and fir trees, and all his desire.
Deu, pois, Hirão a Salomão madeira de cedro e madeira de faia tudo o que quis.
11 And Solomon gave to Chiram twenty thousand measures of wheat as food for his house, and twenty thousand baths of beaten oil thus Solomon gave to Chiram yearly.
E Salomão dava a Hirão vinte mil coros de trigo para o sustento de sua família, e vinte coros de azeite puro; isto dava Salomão a Hirão cada um ano.
12 And the Lord gave wisdom to Solomon as he promised him; and there was peace between Chiram and Solomon, and they made a covenant between them.
Deu, pois, o SENHOR a Salomão sabedoria como lhe havia dito: e havia paz entre Hirão e Salomão, e fizeram aliança entre ambos.
13 And the king raised a levy out of all Israel, and the levy was thirty thousand men.
E o rei Salomão impôs tributo a todo Israel, e o tributo foi de trinta mil homens:
14 And he sent them to Libanus, ten thousand taking turn every month: they were a month in Libanus and two months at home: and Adoniram [was] over the levy.
Os quais enviava ao Líbano de dez mil em dez mil, cada mês por seu turno, vindo assim a estar um mês no Líbano, e dois meses em suas casas: e Adonirão estava sobre aquele tributo.
15 And Solomon had seventy thousand bearers of burdens, and eighty thousand hewers of stone in the mountain;
Tinha também Salomão setenta mil que levavam as cargas, e oitenta mil cortadores no monte;
16 besides the rulers that were appointed over the works of Solomon, [there were] three thousand six hundred masters who wrought in the works.
Sem os principais oficiais de Salomão que estavam sobre a obra, três mil e trezentos, os quais tinham cargo do povo que fazia a obra.
17 [And the king commanded and they ] [brought great stones, precious stones for the foundation of the house, and unhewn stones. ]
E mandou o rei que trouxessem grandes pedras, pedras de grande valor, para os alicerces da casa, e pedras lavradas.
18 And they prepared the stones and the timber [during] three years.
E os pedreiros de Salomão e os de Hirão, e os preparadores, cortaram e prepararam a madeira e pedras para lavrar a casa.
