Psalms 94
1 O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.
Dieu des vengeances, Yahweh, Dieu des vengeances, parais!
2 Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.
Lève-toi, juge de la terre, rends aux superbes selon leurs œuvres!
3 LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
Jusques à quand les méchants, Yahweh, jusques à quand les méchants triompheront-ils?
4 [How long] shall they utter [and] speak hard things? [and] all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?
Ils se répandent en discours arrogants, ils se glorifient, tous ces artisans d'iniquité.
5 They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage.
Yahweh, ils écrasent ton peuple, ils oppriment ton héritage,
6 They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.
ils égorgent la veuve et l'étranger, ils massacrent les orphelins.
7 Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard [it].
Et ils disent: " Yahweh ne regarde pas, le Dieu de Jacob ne fait pas attention. "
8 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and [ye] fools, when will ye be wise?
Comprenez-donc, stupides enfants du peuple! Insensés, quand aurez-vous l'intelligence?
9 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
Celui qui a planté l'oreille n'entendrait-il pas? Celui qui a formé l'œil ne verrait-il pas?
10 He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, [shall not he know]?
Celui qui châtie les nations ne punirait-il pas? Celui qui donne à l'homme l'intelligence ne reconnaîtrait-il pas?
11 The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they [are] vanity.
Yahweh connaît les pensées des hommes, il sait qu'elles sont vaines.
12 Blessed [is] the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;
Heureux l'homme que tu instruis, Yahweh, et à qui tu donnes l'enseignement de ta loi,
13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
pour l'apaiser aux jours du malheur, jusqu'à ce que la fosse soit creusée pour le méchant.
14 For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
Car Yahweh ne rejettera pas son peuple, il n'abandonnera pas son héritage;
15 But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
mais le jugement redeviendra conforme à la justice, et tous les hommes au cœur droit y applaudiront.
16 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? [or] who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
Qui se lèvera pour moi contre les méchants? Qui me soutiendra contre ceux qui font le mal?
17 Unless the LORD [had been] my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
Si Yahweh n'était pas mon secours, mon âme habiterait bientôt le séjour du silence.
18 When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.
Quand je dis: " Mon pied chancelle, " ta bonté, Yahweh, me soutient.
19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.
Quand les angoisses s'agitent en foule dans ma pensée, tes consolations réjouissent mon âme.
20 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
A-t-il rien de commun avec toi le tribunal de perdition, qui fait le mal dans les formes légales?
21 They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
Ils s'empressent contre la vie du juste, et ils condamnent le sang innocent.
22 But the LORD is my defence; and my God [is] the rock of my refuge.
Mais Yahweh est ma forteresse, mon Dieu est le rocher où je m'abrite.
23 And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; [yea], the LORD our God shall cut them off.
Il fera retomber sur eux leur iniquité, il les exterminera par leur propre malice, il les exterminera, Yahweh, notre Dieu!
