Proverbs 21
1 The king’s heart [is] in the hand of the LORD, [as] the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
Serce króla [jest] w ręku PANA [jak] potoki wód; kieruje je, dokąd chce.
2 Every way of a man [is] right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
Wszelka droga człowieka jest słuszna w jego oczach, ale PAN waży serca.
3 To do justice and judgment [is] more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
Czynienie sprawiedliwości i sądu bardziej się podobają PANU niż ofiara.
4 An high look, and a proud heart, [and] the plowing of the wicked, [is] sin.
Wyniosłe oczy, pyszne serce [i] praca niegodziwych są grzechem.
5 The thoughts of the diligent [tend] only to plenteousness; but of every one [that is] hasty only to want.
Myśli pracowitego [przynoszą] pewny dostatek, a [myśli] każdego spieszącego się – niedostatek.
6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue [is] a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
Gromadzenie skarbów kłamliwym językiem jest przemijającą marnością tych, którzy szukają śmierci.
7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
Grabież niegodziwych zniszczy ich, bo nie chcą czynić tego, co sprawiedliwe.
8 The way of man [is] froward and strange: but [as for] the pure, his work [is] right.
Droga człowieka jest przewrotna i obca, ale dzieło czystego jest prawe.
9 [It is] better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
Lepiej mieszkać w kącie dachu niż z kłótliwą żoną w przestronnym domu.
10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
Dusza niegodziwego pragnie zła, a jego bliźni nie znajduje łaski w jego oczach.
11 When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
Gdy się karze szydercę, prosty mądrzeje, a gdy uczą mądrego, przyjmuje wiedzę.
12 The righteous [man] wisely considereth the house of the wicked: [but God] overthroweth the wicked for [their] wickedness.
Sprawiedliwy zważa na dom niegodziwego, ale [Bóg] powala niegodziwych za [ich] nieprawość.
13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
Kto zatyka swe ucho na wołanie ubogiego, ten sam będzie wołał, a nie zostanie wysłuchany.
14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
[Potajemny] dar łagodzi zapalczywość i upominek w zanadrzu uspokaja wielki gniew.
15 [It is] joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction [shall be] to the workers of iniquity.
Radością jest dla sprawiedliwego czynić sąd, a na czyniących nieprawość przyjdzie zniszczenie.
16 The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
Człowiek, który zbacza z drogi mądrości, odpocznie w zgromadzeniu umarłych.
17 He that loveth pleasure [shall be] a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
Kto kocha zabawę, zubożeje, a kto kocha wino i olejek, nie wzbogaci się.
18 The wicked [shall be] a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
Niegodziwy [będzie] okupem za sprawiedliwego, a przewrotny – za prawych.
19 [It is] better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
Lepiej mieszkać na pustyni niż z kłótliwą i gniewliwą żoną.
20 [There is] treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
Pożądany skarb i olej [są] w mieszkaniu mądrego, ale głupiec je trwoni.
21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
Kto podąża za sprawiedliwością i miłosierdziem, znajduje życie, sprawiedliwość i chwałę.
22 A wise [man] scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
Mądry wdziera się do miasta mocarzy i burzy potęgę ich ufności.
23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
Kto strzeże swoich ust i języka, strzeże swojej duszy przed utrapieniem.
24 Proud [and] haughty scorner [is] his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
Hardy i pyszny szyderca – oto imię tego, kto działa w pysznym gniewie.
25 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
Pragnienie leniwego zabija [go], bo jego ręce nie chcą pracować.
26 He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
Przez cały dzień pożąda on zachłannie, a sprawiedliwy daje i nie szczędzi.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked [is] abomination: how much more, [when] he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
Ofiara niegodziwych budzi odrazę, a cóż dopiero, gdy ją w niegodziwości ofiarują.
28 A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
Fałszywy świadek zginie, lecz kto słucha, będzie mówił nieustannie.
29 A wicked man hardeneth his face: but [as for] the upright, he directeth his way.
Niegodziwy ma upór na twarzy, ale prawy wytycza swoją drogę.
30 [There is] no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
Nie ma mądrości ani rozumu, ani rady przeciwko PANU.
31 The horse [is] prepared against the day of battle: but safety [is] of the LORD.
Konia przygotowują na dzień bitwy, ale wybawienie zależy od PANA.
