Proverbs 19
1 Better [is] the poor that walketh in his integrity, than [he that is] perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
| فقیری که در کاملیت خود سالک است، از دروغگویی که احمق باشد بهتر است. | ۱ |
2 Also, [that] the soul [be] without knowledge, [it is] not good; and he that hasteth with [his] feet sinneth.
| دلی نیز که معرفت ندارد نیکو نیست و هرکه به پایهای خویش می‌شتابد گناه می‌کند. | ۲ |
3 The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.
| حماقت انسان، راه او را کج می‌سازد، و دلش از خداوند خشمناک می‌شود. | ۳ |
4 Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
| توانگری دوستان بسیار پیدا می‌کند، اما فقیراز دوستان خود جدا می‌شود. | ۴ |
5 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and [he that] speaketh lies shall not escape.
| شاهد دروغگو بی‌سزا نخواهد ماند، و کسی‌که به دروغ تنطق کند رهایی نخواهد یافت. | ۵ |
6 Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man [is] a friend to him that giveth gifts.
| بسیاری پیش امیران تذلل می‌نمایند، و همه کس دوست بذل کننده است. | ۶ |
7 All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth [them with] words, [yet] they [are] wanting [to him].
| جمیع برادران مرد فقیر از او نفرت دارند، وبه طریق اولی دوستانش از او دور می‌شوند، ایشان را به سخنان، تعاقب می‌کند و نیستند. | ۷ |
8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
| هرکه حکمت را تحصیل کند جان خود رادوست دارد. و هرکه فطانت را نگاه دارد، سعادتمندی خواهد یافت. | ۸ |
9 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and [he that] speaketh lies shall perish.
| شاهد دروغگو بی‌سزا نخواهد ماند، و هرکه به کذب تنطق نماید هلاک خواهد گردید. | ۹ |
10 Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
| عیش و عشرت احمق را نمی شاید، تا چه رسد به غلامی که بر نجبا حکمرانی می‌کند. | ۱۰ |
11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and [it is] his glory to pass over a transgression.
| عقل انسان خشم او را نگاه می‌دارد، وگذشتن از تقصیر جلال او است. | ۱۱ |
12 The king’s wrath [is] as the roaring of a lion; but his favour [is] as dew upon the grass.
| خشم پادشاه مثل غرش شیر است، ورضامندی او مثل شبنم بر گیاه است. | ۱۲ |
13 A foolish son [is] the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife [are] a continual dropping.
| پسر جاهل باعث الم پدرش است، ونزاعهای زن مثل آبی است که دائم در چکیدن باشد. | ۱۳ |
14 House and riches [are] the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife [is] from the LORD.
| خانه و دولت ارث اجدادی است، امازوجه عاقله از جانب خداوند است. | ۱۴ |
15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
| کاهلی خواب سنگین می‌آورد، و شخص اهمال کار، گرسنه خواهد ماند. | ۱۵ |
16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; [but] he that despiseth his ways shall die.
| هرکه حکم را نگاه دارد جان خویش رامحافظت می‌نماید، اما هرکه طریق خود را سبک گیرد، خواهد مرد. | ۱۶ |
17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.
| هرکه بر فقیر ترحم نماید به خداوند قرض می‌دهد، و احسان او را به او رد خواهد نمود. | ۱۷ |
18 Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.
| پسر خود را تادیب نما زیرا که امید هست، اما خود را به کشتن او وامدار. | ۱۸ |
19 A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver [him], yet thou must do it again.
| شخص تندخو متحمل عقوبت خواهدشد، زیرا اگر او را خلاصی دهی آن را باید مکرربجا آوری. | ۱۹ |
20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
| پند را بشنو و تادیب را قبول نما، تا درعاقبت خود حکیم بشوی. | ۲۰ |
21 [There are] many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
| فکرهای بسیار در دل انسان است، اما آنچه ثابت ماند مشورت خداوند است. | ۲۱ |
22 The desire of a man [is] his kindness: and a poor man [is] better than a liar.
| زینت انسان احسان او است، و فقیر ازدروغگو بهتر است. | ۲۲ |
23 The fear of the LORD [tendeth] to life: and [he that hath it] shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
| ترس خداوند مودی به حیات‌است، و هرکه آن را دارد در سیری ساکن می‌ماند، و به هیچ بلاگرفتار نخواهد شد. | ۲۳ |
24 A slothful [man] hideth his hand in [his] bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
| مرد کاهل دست خود را در بغلش پنهان می‌کند، و آن را هم به دهان خود برنمی آورد. | ۲۴ |
25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, [and] he will understand knowledge.
| استهزاکننده را تادیب کن تا جاهلان زیرک شوند، و شخص فهیم را تنبیه نما و معرفت رادرک خواهد نمود. | ۲۵ |
26 He that wasteth [his] father, [and] chaseth away [his] mother, [is] a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.
| هرکه بر پدر خود ستم کند و مادرش رابراند، پسری است که رسوایی و خجالت می‌آورد. | ۲۶ |
27 Cease, my son, to hear the instruction [that causeth] to err from the words of knowledge.
| ای پسر من شنیدن تعلیمی را ترک نما، که تو را از کلام معرفت گمراه می‌سازد. | ۲۷ |
28 An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.
| شاهد لئیم انصاف را استهزا می‌کند، و دهان شریران گناه را می‌بلعد. | ۲۸ |
29 Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
| قصاص به جهت استهزاکنندگان مهیااست، و تازیانه‌ها برای پشت احمقان. | ۲۹ |
