Nahum 3
1 Woe to the bloody city! it [is] all full of lies [and] robbery; the prey departeth not;
| وای بر نینوا، شهری که از دروغ و قتل و غارت پر است، و قربانیان آن را پایانی نیست! |
2 The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots.
| به صدای ضربه‌های تازیانه‌ها که بر پیکر اسبان وارد می‌آید گوش کنید! غرش چرخها، تاخت و تاز اسبها و صدای مهیب ارابه‌ها را بشنوید! |
3 The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and [there is] a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and [there is] none end of [their] corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:
| به شمشیرهای درخشان و نیزه‌های براق سواران نگاه کنید. اجساد کشته‌شدگان در همه جا روی هم انباشته شده‌اند و مردم در حین راه رفتن روی آنها می‌افتند. |
4 Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.
| این همه بدان سبب است که نینوای زناکار و جادوگر، مانند یک زن افسونگر با زیبایی خود قومها را به دام می‌انداخت و آنگاه به آنها یاد می‌داد خدایان دروغینش را بپرستند. |
5 Behold, I [am] against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.
| خداوند لشکرهای آسمان می‌فرماید: «ای نینوا، من بر ضد تو برخاسته‌ام و اکنون تمام قومها برهنگی و رسوایی تو را خواهند دید. |
6 And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock.
| تو را با کثافت می‌پوشانم و به مردم جهان نشان می‌دهم که تو چقدر فاسد هستی. |
7 And it shall come to pass, [that] all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?
| هر که تو را ببیند از تو فرار کرده، فریاد خواهد زد:”نینوا ویران شده است!“ولی هرگز کسی از نابودی تو تأسف نخواهد خورد.» |
8 Art thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, [that had] the waters round about it, whose rampart [was] the sea, [and] her wall [was] from the sea?
| ای نینوا آیا تو از شهر تبس، پایتخت مصر بهتر هستی که آبهای رود نیل از هر طرف آن را در بر گرفته، مانند حصاری آن را محافظت می‌نمود؟ |
9 Ethiopia and Egypt [were] her strength, and [it was] infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.
| او بر حبشه و تمام سرزمین مصر فرمان می‌راند و فوط و لیبی متحدین نیرومندش بودند و به یاری او می‌شتافتند. |
10 Yet [was] she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.
| با وجود این، تبس سقوط کرد. دشمنان، اهالی آن را به اسارت درآوردند و فرزندانشان را بر سنگفرش خیابانها کوبیده، کشتند. رهبرانش را به زنجیر کشیدند و آنها را به حکم قرعه بین خودشان تقسیم کرده، به خدمت خود درآوردند. |
11 Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.
| ای نینوا، تو نیز مانند افراد مست، گیج و مبهوت خواهی شد و پناهگاهی جستجو خواهی کرد تا خود را از چنگ دشمن پنهان کنی. |
12 All thy strong holds [shall be like] fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.
| تمام قلعه‌های تو مانند درختان انجیری هستند که میوه‌هایشان رسیده باشد. وقتی درختان انجیر را تکان دهند نوبر رسیدهٔ آنها در دهان تکان دهندگانش می‌افتد. |
13 Behold, thy people in the midst of thee [are] women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.
| سربازانت همچون زنان، ضعیف و درمانده می‌شوند. دروازه‌های سرزمینت به روی دشمن باز شده به آتش کشیده می‌شوند. |
14 Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the morter, make strong the brickkiln.
| برای محاصره شدن آماده شو! آب کافی ذخیره کن! قلعه‌هایت را تقویت نما! خشتهای زیادی برای تعمیر دیوارهایت آماده کن! به گودالها داخل شده، گل را پا بزن و آن را در قالبهای خشت‌سازی بریز! |
15 There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.
| ولی بدان که آتش تو را می‌بلعد و شمشیر، تو را قطعه‌قطعه می‌کند. دشمن، تو را مثل ملخهایی که هر چه بر سر راهشان قرار گیرد می‌خورند، خواهد بلعید. هر چند مثل ملخ زیاد شوی باز هم راه فراری نداری. |
16 Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the cankerworm spoileth, and flieth away.
| تاجران تو که از ستارگان آسمان زیادتر بودند، مانند مور و ملخ هجوم آورده، ثروت تو را با خود خواهند برد. |
17 Thy crowned [are] as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, [but] when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they [are].
| بزرگان و سردارانت مثل ملخهایی هستند که در سرما، روی دیوارها دور هم جمع می‌شوند، اما همینکه آفتاب برمی‌آید و هوا گرم می‌شود، پرواز می‌کنند و ناپدید می‌گردند. |
18 Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell [in the dust: ] thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth [them].
| ای پادشاه آشور، رهبرانت در خوابند و نجیب‌زادگانت مرده‌اند. قوم تو در کوهها پراکنده شده‌اند و دیگر رهبری نمانده که جمعشان کند. |
19 [There is] no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?
| درمانی برای زخمهایت پیدا نمی‌شود و جراحت تو عمیقتر از آنست که شفا یابد. همهٔ کسانی که از نابودی تو باخبر شوند از شادی دست خواهند زد، چون کسی را نمی‌توان یافت که از ظلم و ستم تو در امان بوده باشد. |
