Matthew 18
1 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
A ce moment, les disciples s'approchèrent de Jésus et lui dirent: Qui est le plus grand dans le royaume des cieux?
2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
Jésus, ayant appelé un petit enfant, le mit au milieu d'eux,
3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
et il dit: En vérité, je vous le déclare, si vous ne changez et si vous ne devenez comme de petits enfants, vous n'entrerez point dans le royaume des cieux.
4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Celui-là donc qui deviendra humble comme cet enfant, sera le plus grand dans le royaume des cieux.
5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
Et celui qui reçoit un tel enfant en mon nom, me reçoit.
6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and [that] he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
Mais si quelqu'un fait tomber dans le péché l'un de ces petits qui croient en moi, il vaudrait mieux pour lui qu'on lui attachât au cou une meule de moulin, et qu'on le jetât au fond de la mer.
7 Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
Malheur au monde à cause des scandales! Car il est nécessaire qu'il arrive des scandales; mais malheur à l'homme par qui le scandale arrive!
8 Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast [them] from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. (aiōnios g166)
Si donc ta main ou ton pied te fait tomber dans le péché, coupe-les et jette-les loin de toi; il vaut mieux que tu entres manchot ou boiteux dans la vie, que d'avoir deux mains ou deux pieds et d'être jeté dans le feu éternel. (aiōnios g166)
9 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast [it] from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire. (Geenna g1067)
Si ton oeil te fait tomber dans le péché, arrache-le et jette-le loin de toi! Il vaut mieux que tu entres dans la vie n'ayant qu'un oeil, que d'avoir deux yeux et d'être jeté dans le feu de la géhenne. (Geenna g1067)
10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
Gardez-vous de mépriser aucun de ces petits; car je vous dis que leurs anges, dans les cieux, voient sans cesse la face de mon Père, qui est dans les cieux.
11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.
[Car le fils de l'homme est venu sauver ce qui était perdu.].
12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
Que vous en semble? Si un homme a cent brebis et que l'une d'elles s'égare, ne laisse-t-il pas les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf dans les montagnes, pour aller chercher celle qui s'est égarée?
13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that [sheep], than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
Et s'il lui arrive de la retrouver, en vérité, je vous le dis, il en a plus de joie que des quatre-vingt-dix-neuf qui ne sont pas égarées.
14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.
De même, ce n'est pas la volonté de votre Père, qui est dans les cieux, qu'un seul de ces petits périsse.
15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
Si ton frère a péché contre toi, va et reprends-le entre toi et lui seul; s'il t'écoute, tu auras gagné ton frère.
16 But if he will not hear [thee, then] take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
S'il ne t'écoute pas, prends encore avec toi une ou deux personnes, afin que toute l'affaire soit décidée sur la parole de deux ou trois témoins.
17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell [it] unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
S'il refuse de les écouter, dis-le à l'Eglise, et s'il refuse d'écouter l'Église, qu'il soit pour toi comme le païen et le péager.
18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
En vérité, je vous le déclare, tout ce que vous aurez lié sur la terre sera lié dans le ciel, et tout ce que vous aurez délié sur la terre sera délié dans le ciel.
19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
En vérité, je vous dis encore que si deux d'entre vous sur la terre s'accordent pour demander quoi que ce soit, ils l'obtiendront de mon Père qui est dans les cieux.
20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Car là où deux ou trois sont réunis en mon nom, je suis au milieu d'eux.
21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
Alors Pierre, s'étant approché, lui dit: Seigneur, combien de fois pardonnerai-je à mon frère, quand il aura péché contre moi? Sera-ce jusqu'à sept fois?
22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
Jésus lui répondit: Je ne te dis pas jusqu'à sept fois, mais jusqu'à soixante-dix fois sept fois.
23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.
C'est pourquoi, il en est du royaume des cieux comme d'un roi qui voulut faire rendre leurs comptes à ses serviteurs.
24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
Quand il eut commencé à compter, on lui en amena un qui lui devait dix mille talents.
25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
Comme ce serviteur n'avait pas de quoi payer, son maître commanda qu'il fût vendu, lui, sa femme et ses enfants, et tout ce qu'il avait, afin que la dette fût payée.
26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
Le serviteur, tombant à ses pieds, se prosternait devant lui et lui disait: Aie patience envers moi, et je te paierai tout!
27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
Alors le maître de ce serviteur, ému de compassion, le laissa aller et lui remit sa dette.
28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
Mais cet homme, étant sorti, rencontra l'un de ses compagnons de service, qui lui devait cent deniers; et, l'ayant saisi, il l'étranglait, en disant: Paie ce que tu dois!
29 And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
Son compagnon, tombant à ses pieds, le suppliait et lui disait: Aie patience envers moi, et je te paierai!
30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.
Mais lui ne voulut pas; il s'en alla pour le faire mettre en prison, jusqu'à ce qu'il eût payé sa dette.
31 So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.
Ses compagnons, ayant vu ce qui s'était passé, en furent extrêmement attristés, et ils vinrent rapporter à leur maître tout ce qui était arrivé.
32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
Alors son maître le fit venir, et lui dit: Méchant serviteur, je t'ai remis toute ta dette, parce que tu m'as supplié de le faire;
33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
ne devais-tu pas avoir pitié de ton compagnon de service, comme j'ai eu moi-même pitié de toi?
34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
Et son maître, irrité, le livra aux bourreaux, jusqu'à ce qu'il eût payé tout ce qu'il lui devait.
35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
Ainsi vous fera mon Père céleste, si chacun de vous ne pardonne pas à son frère de tout son coeur.
