Luke 20
1 And it came to pass, [that] on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon [him] with the elders,
イエスは宮で民衆を教え、福音を宣べ伝えておられたが、ある日、祭司長、律法学者たちが、長老たちといっしょにイエスに立ち向かって、
2 And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?
イエスに言った。「何の権威によって、これらのことをしておられるのですか。あなたにその権威を授けたのはだれですか。それを言ってください。」
3 And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me:
そこで答えて言われた。「わたしも一言尋ねますから、それに答えなさい。
4 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?
ヨハネのバプテスマは、天から来たのですか、人から出たのですか。」
5 And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?
すると彼らは、こう言って、互いに論じ合った。「もし、天から、と言えば、それならなぜ、彼を信じなかったか、と言うだろう。
6 But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.
しかし、もし、人から、と言えば、民衆がみなで私たちを石で打ち殺すだろう。ヨハネを預言者と信じているのだから。」
7 And they answered, that they could not tell whence [it was].
そこで、「どこからか知りません。」と答えた。
8 And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
するとイエスは、「わたしも、何の権威によってこれらのことをするのか、あなたがたに話すまい。」と言われた。
9 Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.
また、イエスは、民衆にこのようなたとえを話された。 「ある人がぶどう園を造り、それを農夫たちに貸して、長い旅に出た。
10 And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent [him] away empty.
そして季節になったので、ぶどう園の収穫の分けまえをもらうために、農夫たちのところへひとりのしもべを遣わした。ところが、農夫たちは、そのしもべを袋だたきにし、何も持たせないで送り帰した。
11 And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated [him] shamefully, and sent [him] away empty.
そこで、別のしもべを遣わしたが、彼らは、そのしもべも袋だたきにし、はずかしめたうえで、何も持たせないで送り帰した。
12 And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast [him] out.
彼はさらに三人目のしもべをやったが、彼らは、このしもべにも傷を負わせて追い出した。
13 Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence [him] when they see him.
ぶどう園の主人は言った。『どうしたものか。よし、愛する息子を送ろう。彼らも、この子はたぶん敬ってくれるだろう。』
14 But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.
ところが、農夫たちはその息子を見て、議論しながら言った。『あれはあと取りだ。あれを殺そうではないか。そうすれば、財産はこちらのものだ。』
15 So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed [him]. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them?
そして、彼をぶどう園の外に追い出して、殺してしまった。 こうなると、ぶどう園の主人は、どうするでしょう。
16 He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard [it], they said, God forbid.
彼は戻って来て、この農夫どもを打ち滅ぼし、ぶどう園をほかの人たちに与えてしまいます。」これを聞いた民衆は、「そんなことがあってはなりません。」と言った。
17 And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?
イエスは、彼らを見つめて言われた。「では、 『家を建てる者たちの見捨てた石、 それが礎の石となった。』 と書いてあるのは、何のことでしょう。
18 Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
この石の上に落ちれば、だれでも粉々に砕け、またこの石が人の上に落ちれば、その人を粉みじんに飛び散らしてしまうのです。」
19 And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.
律法学者、祭司長たちは、イエスが自分たちをさしてこのたとえを話されたと気づいたので、この際イエスに手をかけて捕えようとしたが、やはり民衆を恐れた。
20 And they watched [him], and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.
さて、機会をねらっていた彼らは、義人を装った間者を送り、イエスのことばを取り上げて、総督の支配と権威にイエスを引き渡そう、と計った。
21 And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person [of any], but teachest the way of God truly:
その間者たちは、イエスに質問して言った。「先生。私たちは、あなたがお話しになり、お教えになることは正しく、またあなたは分け隔てなどせず、真理に基づいて神の道を教えておられることを知っています。
22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Cæsar, or no?
ところで、私たちが、カイザルに税金を納めることは、律法にかなっていることでしょうか。かなっていないことでしょうか。」
23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?
イエスはそのたくらみを見抜いて彼らに言われた。
24 Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Cæsar’s.
「デナリ銀貨をわたしに見せなさい。これはだれの肖像ですか。だれの銘ですか。」彼らは、「カイザルのです。」と言った。
25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which be Cæsar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s.
すると彼らに言われた。「では、カイザルのものはカイザルに返しなさい。そして神のものは神に返しなさい。」
26 And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.
彼らは、民衆の前でイエスのことばじりをつかむことができず、お答えに驚嘆して黙ってしまった。
27 Then came to [him] certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,
ところが、復活があることを否定するサドカイ人のある者たちが、イエスのところに来て、質問して、
28 Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man’s brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
こう言った。「先生。モーセは私たちのためにこう書いています。『もし、ある人の兄が妻をめとって死に、しかも子がなかったばあいは、その弟はその女を妻にして、兄のための子をもうけなければならない。』
29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.
ところで、七人の兄弟がいました。長男は妻をめとりましたが、子どもがなくて死にました。
30 And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.
次男も、
31 And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.
三男もその女をめとり、七人とも同じようにして、子どもを残さずに死にました。
32 Last of all the woman died also.
あとで、その女も死にました。
33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.
すると復活の際、その女はだれの妻になるでしょうか。七人ともその女を妻としたのですが。」
34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: (aiōn g165)
イエスは彼らに言われた。「この世の子らは、めとったり、とついだりするが、 (aiōn g165)
35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: (aiōn g165)
次の世にはいるのにふさわしく、死人の中から復活するのにふさわしい、と認められる人たちは、めとることも、とつぐこともありません。 (aiōn g165)
36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
彼らはもう死ぬことができないからです。彼らは御使いのようであり、また、復活の子として神の子どもだからです。
37 Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
それに、死人がよみがえることについては、モーセも柴の個所で、主を、『アブラハムの神、イサクの神、ヤコブの神。』と呼んで、このことを示しました。
38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.
神は死んだ者の神ではありません。生きている者の神です。というのは、神に対しては、みなが生きているからです。」
39 Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.
律法学者のうちのある者たちが答えて、「先生。りっぱなお答えです。」と言った。
40 And after that they durst not ask him any [question at all].
彼らはもうそれ以上何も質問する勇気がなかった。
41 And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David’s son?
すると、イエスが彼らに言われた。「どうして人々は、キリストをダビデの子と言うのですか。
42 And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
ダビデ自身が詩篇の中でこう言っています。 『主は私の主に言われた。
43 Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
「わたしが、あなたの敵を あなたの足台とする時まで、 わたしの右の座に着いていなさい。」』
44 David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?
こういうわけで、ダビデがキリストを主と呼んでいるのに、どうしてキリストがダビデの子でしょう。」
45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples,
また、民衆がみな耳を傾けているときに、イエスは弟子たちにこう言われた。
46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;
「律法学者たちには気をつけなさい。彼らは、長い衣をまとって歩き回ったり、広場であいさつされたりすることが好きで、また会堂の上席や宴会の上座が好きです。
47 Which devour widows’ houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.
また、やもめの家を食いつぶし、見えを飾るために長い祈りをします。こういう人たちは人一倍きびしい罰を受けるのです。」
