< Lamentations 3 >

1 I [am] the man [that] hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
Nga pa sie su pula tari kalyeiyuk sin God.
2 He hath led me, and brought [me into] darkness, but not [into] light.
El pwenyu ac sap nga in som nu yen lohsr matoltol.
3 Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand [against me] all the day.
El sringilyu na sringilyu ke sringsring na upa.
4 My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.
El kanteya monuk ac kinet keik oan mangelik, ac el koteya sri keik.
5 He hath builded against me, and compassed [me] with gall and travail.
El kuhlusyuyak ke mwe keok ac fosrnga lulap.
6 He hath set me in dark places, as [they that be] dead of old.
El patokyula in muta in acn na lohsrlosr ac foulin ma misa oan we.
7 He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.
El kapriyuwi ke sein; nga sie mwet kapir su wangin finsrak la in kaingla.
8 Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.
Nga wowoyak nu lucng in suk kasru, tusruktu God El tia lungse porongeyu.
9 He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
Nga tukulkul ke nga fahsr, ac pot eot uh kosreyula yen nukewa nga for nu we.
10 He [was] unto me [as] a bear lying in wait, [and as] a lion in secret places.
El kasrikiyu oana soko bear; el sroma nu fuk oana soko lion.
11 He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.
El ukweyuyak liki inkanek uh, seseya monuk nu ke ip srisrik, na El som likiyu.
12 He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
El amakinya mwe pisr natul ah, ac oru tuh in nga pa El akola in pisrik uh.
13 He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
El pusrukma sukan pisr natul, na liksreni tilyang nu in monuk.
14 I was a derision to all my people; [and] their song all the day.
Mwet uh isrunyu len nufon se; nga mwe tafunkas nu selos nukewa.
15 He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.

16 He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.
El ilya mutuk infohk uh, ac kotalik wihsik fin eot uh.
17 And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.
Nga tila esam lah mea kalmen misla ku engan uh.
18 And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the LORD:
Tiana loes pacl lula ke moul luk; wanginla finsrak luk in LEUM GOD.
19 Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.

22 [It is of] the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
Lungse kawil ac pakoten lun LEUM GOD uh tiana wanginla;

24 The LORD [is] my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

25 The LORD [is] good unto them that wait for him, to the soul [that] seeketh him.
LEUM GOD El wo nu sin mwet nukewa su lulalfongi in El.
26 [It is] good that [a man] should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

31 For the Lord will not cast off for ever:
