Genesis 2
1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
So waren der Himmel und die Erde mit ihrem ganzen Heer vollendet.
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Da brachte Gott am siebten Tage sein Werk, das er geschaffen hatte, zur Vollendung und ruhte am siebten Tage von aller seiner Arbeit, die er vollbracht hatte.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
Und Gott segnete den siebten Tag und heiligte ihn; denn an ihm hat Gott von seinem ganzen Schöpfungswerk und seiner Arbeit geruht.
4 These [are] the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
a Dies ist die Entstehungsgeschichte des Himmels und der Erde, als sie geschaffen wurden. b Zur Zeit, als Gott der HERR Erde und Himmel schuf,
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and [there was] not a man to till the ground.
als es auf der Erde noch keine Sträucher auf dem Felde gab und noch keine Pflanzen auf den Fluren gewachsen waren, weil Gott der HERR noch keinen Regen auf die Erde hatte fallen lassen und auch noch keine Menschen da waren, um den Ackerboden zu bestellen –
6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
es stieg aber ein Wasserdunst von der Erde auf und tränkte die ganze Oberfläche des Erdbodens –:
7 And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
da bildete Gott der HERR den Menschen aus Erde vom Ackerboden und blies ihm den Lebensodem in die Nase; so wurde der Mensch zu einem lebenden Wesen.
8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
Hierauf pflanzte Gott der HERR einen Garten in Eden nach Osten hin und versetzte dorthin den Menschen, den er gebildet hatte.
9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Dann ließ Gott der HERR allerlei Bäume aus dem Erdboden hervorwachsen, die lieblich anzusehen waren und wohlschmeckende Früchte trugen, dazu auch den Baum des Lebens mitten im Garten und den Baum der Erkenntnis des Guten und des Bösen.
10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
Es entsprang aber ein Strom in Eden, um den Garten zu bewässern, und teilte sich von dort aus, und zwar in vier Arme.
11 The name of the first [is] Pison: that [is] it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where [there is] gold;
Der erste heißt Pison: dieser ist es, der das ganze Land Hawila umfließt, woselbst sich das Gold findet,
12 And the gold of that land [is] good: there [is] bdellium and the onyx stone.
und das Gold dieses Landes ist kostbar; dort kommt auch das Bedolachharz vor und der Edelstein Soham.
13 And the name of the second river [is] Gihon: the same [is] it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.
Der zweite Strom heißt Gihon: dieser ist es, der das ganze Land Kusch umfließt.
14 And the name of the third river [is] Hiddekel: that [is] it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river [is] Euphrates.
Der dritte Strom heißt Hiddekel: dieser ist es, der östlich von Assyrien fließt; und der vierte Strom ist der Euphrat.
15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
Als nun Gott der HERR den Menschen genommen und ihn in den Garten Eden versetzt hatte, damit er ihn bestelle und behüte,
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
gab Gott der HERR dem Menschen die Weisung: »Von allen Bäumen des Gartens darfst du nach Belieben essen;
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
aber vom Baum der Erkenntnis des Guten und des Bösen – von dem darfst du nicht essen; denn sobald du von diesem ißt, mußt du des Todes sterben.«
18 And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
Hierauf sagte Gott der HERR: »Es ist nicht gut für den Menschen, daß er allein ist: ich will ihm eine Hilfe schaffen, die zu ihm paßt.«
19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought [them] unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that [was] the name thereof.
Da bildete Gott der HERR aus Erde alle Tiere des Feldes und alle Vögel des Himmels und brachte sie zu dem Menschen, um zu sehen, wie er sie benennen würde; und wie der Mensch sie alle benennen würde, so sollten sie heißen.
20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
So legte denn der Mensch allem Vieh und den Vögeln des Himmels und allen wilden Tieren Namen bei; aber für einen Menschen fand er keine Hilfe darunter, die zu ihm gepaßt hätte.
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
Da ließ Gott der HERR einen tiefen Schlaf auf den Menschen fallen, so daß er einschlief; dann nahm er eine von seinen Rippen heraus und verschloß deren Stelle wieder mit Fleisch;
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
die Rippe aber, die Gott aus dem Menschen genommen hatte, gestaltete er zu einem Weibe und führte dieses dem Menschen zu.
23 And Adam said, This [is] now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Da rief der Mensch aus: »Diese endlich ist es: Gebein von meinem Gebein und Fleisch von meinem Fleisch! Diese soll ›Männin‹ heißen; denn vom Manne ist diese genommen.«
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Darum verläßt ein Mann seinen Vater und seine Mutter und hängt seinem Weibe an, und sie werden ein Fleisch sein.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Und sie waren beide nackt, der Mensch und sein Weib, und doch schämten sie sich nicht (voreinander).
