Ecclesiastes 7
1 A good name [is] better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth.
| نیک نامی از روغن معطر بهتر است و روزممات از روز ولادت. | ۱ |
2 [It is] better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that [is] the end of all men; and the living will lay [it] to his heart.
| رفتن به خانه ماتم از رفتن به خانه ضیافت بهتر است زیرا که این آخرت همه مردمان است و زندگان این را در دل خود می‌نهند. | ۲ |
3 Sorrow [is] better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.
| حزن از خنده بهتر است زیرا که ازغمگینی صورت دل اصلاح می‌شود. | ۳ |
4 The heart of the wise [is] in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools [is] in the house of mirth.
| دل حکیمان در خانه ماتم است و دل احمقان در خانه شادمانی. | ۴ |
5 [It is] better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.
| شنیدن عتاب حکیمان بهتر است از شنیدن سرود احمقان، | ۵ |
6 For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so [is] the laughter of the fool: this also [is] vanity.
| زیرا خنده احمقان مثل صدای خارها در زیر دیگ است و این نیز بطالت است. | ۶ |
7 Surely oppression maketh a wise man mad; and a gift destroyeth the heart.
| به درستی که ظلم، مرد حکیم را جاهل می‌گرداند و رشوه، دل را فاسد می‌سازد. | ۷ |
8 Better [is] the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: [and] the patient in spirit [is] better than the proud in spirit.
| انتهای امر از ابتدایش بهتر است و دل حلیم از دل مغرور نیکوتر. | ۸ |
9 Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.
| در دل خود به زودی خشمناک مشو زیرا خشم در سینه احمقان مستقرمی شود. | ۹ |
10 Say not thou, What is [the cause] that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.
| مگو چرا روزهای قدیم از این زمان بهتربود زیرا که در این خصوص از روی حکمت سوال نمی کنی. | ۱۰ |
11 Wisdom [is] good with an inheritance: and [by it there is] profit to them that see the sun.
| حکمت مثل میراث نیکو است بلکه به جهت بینندگان آفتاب نیکوتر. | ۱۱ |
12 For wisdom [is] a defence, [and] money [is] a defence: but the excellency of knowledge [is, that] wisdom giveth life to them that have it.
| زیرا که حکمت ملجایی است و نقره ملجایی؛ اما فضیلت معرفت این است که حکمت صاحبانش را زندگی می‌بخشد. | ۱۲ |
13 Consider the work of God: for who can make [that] straight, which he hath made crooked?
| اعمال خدا را ملاحظه نما زیرا کیست که بتواند آنچه را که او کج ساخته است راست نماید؟ | ۱۳ |
14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.
| در روز سعادتمندی شادمان باش و درروز شقاوت تامل نما زیرا خدا این را به ازاء آن قرار داد که انسان هیچ‌چیز را که بعد از او خواهدشد دریافت نتواند کرد. | ۱۴ |
15 All [things] have I seen in the days of my vanity: there is a just [man] that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked [man] that prolongeth [his life] in his wickedness.
| این همه را در روزهای بطالت خود دیدم. مرد عادل هست که در عدالتش هلاک می‌شود و مرد شریر هست که در شرارتش عمر دراز دارد. | ۱۵ |
16 Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?
| پس گفتم به افراط عادل مباش و خود را زیاده حکیم مپندار مبادا خویشتن را هلاک کنی. | ۱۶ |
17 Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?
| و به افراط شریر مباش و احمق مشو مبادا پیش ازاجلت بمیری. | ۱۷ |
18 [It is] good that thou shouldest take hold of this; yea, also from this withdraw not thine hand: for he that feareth God shall come forth of them all.
| نیکو است که به این متمسک شوی و از آن نیز دست خود را برنداری زیرا هرکه از خدا بترسد، از این هر دو بیرون خواهد آمد. | ۱۸ |
19 Wisdom strengtheneth the wise more than ten mighty [men] which are in the city.
| حکمت مرد حکیم را توانایی می‌بخشدبیشتر از ده حاکم که در یک شهر باشند. | ۱۹ |
20 For [there is] not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
| زیرامرد عادلی در دنیا نیست که نیکویی ورزد و هیچ خطا ننماید. | ۲۰ |
21 Also take no heed unto all words that are spoken; lest thou hear thy servant curse thee:
| و نیز به همه سخنانی که گفته شود دل خودرا منه، مبادا بنده خود را که تو را لعنت می‌کندبشنوی. | ۲۱ |
22 For oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others.
| زیرا دلت می‌داند که تو نیز بسیار بارهادیگران را لعنت نموده‌ای. | ۲۲ |
23 All this have I proved by wisdom: I said, I will be wise; but it [was] far from me.
| این همه را با حکمت آزمودم و گفتم به حکمت خواهم پرداخت اما آن از من دور بود. | ۲۳ |
24 That which is far off, and exceeding deep, who can find it out?
| آنچه هست دور و بسیار عمیق است. پس کیست که آن را دریافت نماید؟ | ۲۴ |
25 I applied mine heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason [of things], and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness [and] madness:
| پس برگشته دل خود را بر معرفت و بحث و طلب حکمت وعقل مشغول ساختم تا بدانم که شرارت حماقت است و حماقت دیوانگی است. | ۲۵ |
26 And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart [is] snares and nets, [and] her hands [as] bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her.
| و دریافتم که زنی که دلش دامها و تله‌ها است و دستهایش کمندها می‌باشد، چیز تلختر از موت است. هرکه مقبول خدا است، از وی رستگار خواهد شد اماخطاکار گرفتار وی خواهد گردید. | ۲۶ |
27 Behold, this have I found, saith the preacher, [counting] one by one, to find out the account:
| جامعه می‌گوید که اینک چون این را با آن مقابله کردم تا نتیجه را دریابم این را دریافتم، | ۲۷ |
28 Which yet my soul seeketh, but I find not: one man among a thousand have I found; but a woman among all those have I not found.
| که جان من تا به حال آن را جستجو می‌کند ونیافتم. یک مرد از هزار یافتم اما از جمیع آنها زنی نیافتم. | ۲۸ |
29 Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.
| همانا این را فقط دریافتم که خدا آدمی را راست آفرید، اما ایشان مخترعات بسیار طلبیدند. | ۲۹ |
