Amos 7
1 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, [it was] the latter growth after the king’s mowings.
Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao cho tôi thấy một khải tượng. Tôi thấy Ngài đang chuẩn bị sai một đoàn cào cào thật đông tràn vào xứ. Nó xảy ra sau mùa gặt thứ nhất cho nhà vua và vừa lúc mùa gặt thứ hai sắp sửa đến.
2 And it came to pass, [that] when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he [is] small.
Trong khải tượng của tôi, cào cào ăn hết ngũ cốc và cỏ xanh trong xứ. Tôi cầu nguyện khẩn thiết: “Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao, van xin Ngài tha thứ cho chúng con, chúng con không thể sống sót, vì nhà Gia-cốp quá nhỏ.”
3 The LORD repented for this: It shall not be, saith the LORD.
Vậy, Chúa Hằng Hữu liền đổi ý. Ngài phán: “Ta sẽ không giáng tai họa ấy.”
4 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.
Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao cho tôi thấy một khải tượng khác. Tôi thấy Ngài chuẩn bị hình phạt dân Ngài bằng ngọn lửa lớn cháy phừng. Lửa đã làm khô cạn vực sâu và thiêu đốt cả xứ.
5 Then said I, O Lord GOD, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he [is] small.
Tôi cầu nguyện: “Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao, van xin Ngài ngừng tay, chúng con không thể sống sót, vì nhà Gia-cốp quá nhỏ.”
6 The LORD repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord GOD.
Rồi Chúa Hằng Hữu cũng đổi ý. Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao phán: “Ta sẽ không giáng tai họa ấy.”
7 Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall [made] by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.
Chúa lại cho tôi thấy một khải tượng khác. Tôi thấy Chúa đứng bên cạnh một bức tường được dựng bằng dây dọi. Ngài dùng dây dọi để làm chuẩn đo.
8 And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:
Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo tôi: “A-mốt, con thấy gì?” Tôi thưa: “Con thấy dây dọi.” Chúa phán tiếp: “Ta sẽ thử dân Ta với dây dọi này. Ta không thể bỏ qua tội lỗi của chúng nữa.
9 And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
Các miếu thờ tà thần tại những nơi cao của Y-sác sẽ bị phá tan, và các đền miễu của Ít-ra-ên sẽ bị tiêu diệt; Ta sẽ dùng gươm chống lại Vua Giê-rô-bô-am.”
10 Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.
A-ma-xia, là thầy tế lễ của thành Bê-tên, gửi thông điệp cho Giê-rô-bô-am, vua nước Ít-ra-ên: “A-mốt đang âm mưu chống lại vua ngay giữa dân tộc! Đất này không thể nào chịu nỗi những lời hắn nói.
11 For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.
Người ấy dám nói rằng: ‘Giê-rô-bô-am sẽ sớm bị giết, và người Ít-ra-ên sẽ bị lưu đày xa.’”
12 Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:
Rồi A-ma-xia ra lệnh cho A-mốt: “Hãy ra khỏi đây, hỡi tiên tri kia! Hãy quay về Giu-đa mà kiếm ăn, mà nói tiên tri!
13 But prophesy not again any more at Beth-el: for it [is] the king’s chapel, and it [is] the king’s court.
Đừng làm phiền chúng ta và nói tiên tri ở Bê-tên làm gì nữa. Vì đây là thánh địa của vua, và đền thờ của vương quốc!”
14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I [was] no prophet, neither [was] I a prophet’s son; but I [was] an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:
Nhưng A-mốt đáp: “Tôi vốn không phải là tiên tri, cũng không được học làm tiên tri bao giờ. Tôi chỉ là một người chăn chiên, và chăm sóc cây sung.
15 And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
Nhưng Chúa Hằng Hữu đã gọi tôi ra khỏi việc chăn bầy và bảo tôi rằng: ‘Hãy đi nói tiên tri cho dân tộc Ít-ra-ên của Ta.’
16 Now therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not [thy word] against the house of Isaac.
Nên bây giờ, ông hãy nghe sứ điệp của Chúa Hằng Hữu: Ông nói: ‘Đừng nói tiên tri chống lại dân tộc Ít-ra-ên. Đừng nói lời nào chống lại nhà Y-sác.’
17 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.
Nên đây là điều Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: ‘Này, vợ ngươi sẽ trở thành gái mãi dâm trong thành này, con trai và con gái ngươi sẽ bị giết. Đất ruộng ngươi sẽ bị chia phần, và chính ngươi sẽ chết tại đất khách quê người, Dân tộc Ít-ra-ên sẽ bị lưu đày xa quê hương.’”
