2 Samuel 8
1 And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Metheg-ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.
| پس از چندی، باز داوود به فلسطینی‌ها حمله کرده، آنها را شکست داد و مِتِگ‌اَمّاه را از دستشان گرفت. |
2 And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And [so] the Moabites became David’s servants, [and] brought gifts.
| داوود همچنین موآبی‌ها را شکست داده، اسیران را به ردیف در کنار هم روی زمین خوابانید؛ سپس از هر سه نفر دو نفر را کشت و یک نفر را زنده نگه داشت. بازماندگان موآبی تابع داوود شده، به او باج و خراج می‌دادند. |
3 David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.
| در ضمن داوود نیروهای هددعزر (پسر رحوب)، پادشاه صوبه را در هم شکست، زیرا هددعزر می‌کوشید بار دیگر نواحی کنار رود فرات را به چنگ آورد. |
4 And David took from him a thousand [chariots], and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot [horses], but reserved of them [for] an hundred chariots.
| در این جنگ داوود هزار ارابه، هفت هزار سرباز سواره و بیست هزار سرباز پیاده را به اسیری گرفت، بعد صد اسب برای ارابه‌ها نگه داشته، رگ پای بقیهٔ اسبان را قطع کرد. |
5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
| او همچنین با بیست و دو هزار سرباز سوری که از دمشق برای کمک به هَدَدعَزَر آمده بودند جنگید و همهٔ آنها را کشت. |
6 Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, [and] brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.
| داوود در دمشق چندین قرارگاه مستقر ساخت و مردم سوریه تابع داوود شده، به او باج و خراج می‌پرداختند. به این ترتیب داوود هر جا می‌رفت، خداوند او را پیروزی می‌بخشید. |
7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
| داوود سپرهای طلای سرداران هددعزر را گرفته، به اورشلیم برد. |
8 And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.
| در ضمن، او از طبح و بیروتای، شهرهای هددعزر، مقدار زیادی مفرغ گرفته، آنها را هم به اورشلیم برد. |
9 When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,
| توعو، پادشاه حمات، وقتی شنید که داوود بر لشکر هددعزر پیروز شده است، |
10 Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And [Joram] brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:
| پسرش هدورام را فرستاد تا سلام وی را به او برساند و این پیروزی را به او تبریک بگوید، چون هددعزر و توعو با هم دشمن بودند. هدورام هدایایی از طلا و نقره و مفرغ به داوود داد. |
11 Which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;
| داوود، همهٔ این هدایا را با طلا و نقره‌ای که خود از ادومی‌ها، موآبی‌ها، عمونی‌ها، فلسطینی‌ها، عمالیقی‌ها و نیز از هددعزر پادشاه به غنیمت گرفته بود، وقف خداوند کرد. |
12 Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
13 And David gat [him] a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, [being] eighteen thousand [men].
| داوود در درهٔ نمک با هجده هزار سرباز ادومی وارد جنگ شده، آنها را از بین برد. این پیروزی داوود به شهرت او افزود. |
14 And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David’s servants. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.
| سپس داوود در سراسر ادوم، قرارگاهها مستقر کرد و ادومی‌ها تابع او شدند. داوود به هر طرف می‌رفت، خداوند به او پیروزی می‌بخشید. |
15 And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.
| داوود با عدل و انصاف بر اسرائیل حکومت می‌کرد. |
16 And Joab the son of Zeruiah [was] over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud [was] recorder;
| فرماندهٔ سپاه او، یوآب (پسر صرویه) و وقایع‌نگار او یهوشافاط (پسر اخیلود) بود. |
17 And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, [were] the priests; and Seraiah [was] the scribe;
| صادوق (پسر اخیطوب) و اخیملک (پسر اَبیّاتار) هر دو کاهن بودند و سرایا کاتب بود. |
18 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada [was over] both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief rulers.
| بنایا (پسر یهویاداع) فرماندهٔ محافظین دربار داوود بود. پسران داوود نیز در امور دربار به او کمک می‌کردند. |
