2 Chronicles 34
1 Josiah [was] eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem one and thirty years.
Giô-si-a được tám tuổi khi lên ngôi và trị vì được ba mươi mốt năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem.
2 And he did [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined [neither] to the right hand, nor to the left.
Vua làm điều công chính thiện lành trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, theo đúng đường lối của Đa-vít, tổ phụ mình, không sai lệch chút nào.
3 For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.
Vào năm thứ tám thời trị vì của vua, dù còn thiếu niên, Giô-si-a bắt đầu tìm kiếm Đức Chúa Trời của tổ phụ mình là Đa-vít. Năm thứ mười hai, vua quét sạch đất nước Giu-đa và Giê-ru-sa-lem không còn một miếu thần trên các đồi núi, cũng không còn tượng nữ thần A-sê-ra, hoặc tượng chạm và tượng đúc nào.
4 And they brake down the altars of Baalim in his presence; and the images, that [were] on high above them, he cut down; and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and made dust [of them], and strowed [it] upon the graves of them that had sacrificed unto them.
Trước mặt vua, người ta đập phá các bàn thờ thần Ba-anh. Vua cũng triệt hạ các hình tượng thần A-sê-ra, các miếu thần, tượng đúc; nghiền nát ra bụi và rải bên mồ mả của những ai đã tế lễ cho các tượng ấy.
5 And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and cleansed Judah and Jerusalem.
Vua thiêu hài cốt các thầy tế lễ tà thần trên bàn thờ của họ và tẩy sạch Giu-đa và Giê-ru-sa-lem.
6 And [so did he] in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, with their mattocks round about.
Vua cũng làm như vậy trong các thành của Ma-na-se, Ép-ra-im, Si-mê-ôn, và cả Nép-ta-li, cùng những miền chung quanh đó.
7 And when he had broken down the altars and the groves, and had beaten the graven images into powder, and cut down all the idols throughout all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.
Vua hủy phá các bàn thờ, các tượng A-sê-ra, nghiền nát các tượng chạm, và triệt hạ tất cả hình tượng khắp đất nước Ít-ra-ên. Sau đó, vua trở về Giê-ru-sa-lem.
8 Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land, and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of the LORD his God.
Năm thứ mười tám đời trị vì của vua, sau khi thanh tẩy xứ và Đền Thờ, Giô-si-a sai Sa-phan, con A-xa-lia, Ma-a-xê-gia, tổng trấn của Giê-ru-sa-lem, và Giô-a, con Ngự sử Giô-a-cha, sửa chữa Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu là Đức Chúa Trời của mình.
9 And when they came to Hilkiah the high priest, they delivered the money that was brought into the house of God, which the Levites that kept the doors had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin; and they returned to Jerusalem.
Họ đến yết kiến thầy thượng tế Hinh-kia, giao số tiền dâng vào Đền Thờ Đức Chúa Trời và số tiền mà người Lê-vi gác cổng Đền Thờ đã thu của người Ma-na-se, Ép-ra-im, và những người Ít-ra-ên khác, cũng như toàn dân Giu-đa, Bên-gia-min, và Giê-ru-sa-lem.
10 And they put [it] in the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the house of the LORD, and they gave it to the workmen that wrought in the house of the LORD, to repair and amend the house:
Họ giao số tiền ấy cho các đốc công coi sóc việc sửa chữa Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu. Những người này trả công cho các thợ sửa chữa và các thợ trùng tu Đền Thờ.
11 Even to the artificers and builders gave they [it], to buy hewn stone, and timber for couplings, and to floor the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.
Họ cũng giao tiền cho các thợ mộc, các thợ nề để mua đá, gỗ tái thiết các cơ sở mà các vua Giu-đa thời trước đã phá hủy.
12 And the men did the work faithfully: and the overseers of them [were] Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set [it] forward; and [other of] the Levites, all that could skill of instruments of musick.
Tất cả đều chuyên cần làm việc dưới quyền lãnh đạo của Gia-hát và Áp-đia, người Lê-vi, thuộc dòng họ Mê-ra-ri, Xa-cha-ri và Mê-su-lam, thuộc dòng họ Kê-hát. Cùng những người Lê-vi khác, tất cả đều có khả năng sử dụng nhạc cụ,
13 Also [they were] over the bearers of burdens, and [were] overseers of all that wrought the work in any manner of service: and of the Levites [there were] scribes, and officers, and porters.
họ chịu trách nhiệm coi sóc các nhân công trong mỗi công tác. Còn những người khác cũng làm việc với chức vụ như thư ký, nhân viên, và người gác cổng.
14 And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the LORD, Hilkiah the priest found a book of the law of the LORD [given] by Moses.
Khi họ đem ra số tiền đã dâng vào Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu, thầy thượng tế Hinh-kia tìm được bộ Kinh Luật của Chúa Hằng Hữu do Môi-se truyền lại.
15 And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.
Hinh-kia nói với Tổng Thư ký Sa-phan: “Tôi đã tìm được bộ Kinh Luật trong Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu!” Rồi Hinh-kia giao sách ấy cho Sa-phan.
16 And Shaphan carried the book to the king, and brought the king word back again, saying, All that was committed to thy servants, they do [it].
Sa-phan đem sách về trình cho vua và nói: “Tất cả các công tác vua ủy thác đều đang được thực hiện.
17 And they have gathered together the money that was found in the house of the LORD, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and to the hand of the workmen.
Họ xuất tiền bạc trong Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu ra giao cho các đốc công và các nhân công.”
18 Then Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath given me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
Sa-phan tiếp: “Thầy Tế lễ Hinh-kia cũng giao bộ sách này cho tôi.” Rồi Sa-phan đọc sách ấy cho vua nghe.
19 And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he rent his clothes.
Nghe lời được viết trong Kinh Luật, vua liền xé vương bào.
20 And the king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king’s, saying,
Vua ra lệnh cho Hinh-kia, A-hi-cam, con Sa-phan, Áp-đôn, con Mi-ca, Tổng Thư ký Sa-phan, và A-sa-gia, quân sư riêng của vua:
21 Go, enquire of the LORD for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great [is] the wrath of the LORD that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do after all that is written in this book.
“Các ngươi hãy đi đến Đền Thờ và cầu vấn Chúa Hằng Hữu cho ta và cho toàn dân Ít-ra-ên và Giu-đa. Hãy cầu hỏi về những lời được ghi trong bộ sách mới tìm được. Vì cơn phẫn nộ Chúa Hằng Hữu đang đổ ra trên chúng ta thật dữ dội vì tổ phụ chúng ta không vâng giữ lời Chúa Hằng Hữu. Chúng ta cũng không làm theo những điều đã ghi trong sách này!”
22 And Hilkiah, and [they] that the king [had appointed], went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college: ) and they spake to her to that [effect].
Vậy, Hinh-kia và những người khác đến yết kiến nữ Tiên tri Hun-đa, vợ của Sa-lum, con Tích-va, cháu Ha-sơ-ra, người giữ áo lễ. Bà đang ngụ tại Quận Nhì, thuộc Giê-ru-sa-lem.
23 And she answered them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell ye the man that sent you to me,
Bà nói: “Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên có phán: Hãy nói với người đã sai các ông rằng:
24 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, [even] all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah:
‘Đây là lời Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: Này, Ta sẽ đổ tai họa trên đất nước này và trên toàn dân. Tất cả lời nguyền rủa đã ghi trong sách mà người ta đọc cho vua Giu-đa nghe sẽ thành sự thật.
25 Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched.
Vì chúng đã lìa bỏ Ta mà dâng hương cho các tà thần, để chọc giận Ta bằng các vật tay chúng làm ra nên cơn thịnh nộ Ta sẽ đổ xuống đất nước này không ngớt.’
26 And as for the king of Judah, who sent you to enquire of the LORD, so shall ye say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel [concerning] the words which thou hast heard;
Các ngươi hãy trình lại cho vua Giu-đa, là người đã sai các ngươi cầu hỏi Chúa Hằng Hữu, rằng: ‘Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên phán về sứ điệp con đã nghe:
27 Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard [thee] also, saith the LORD.
Vì lòng con mềm mại và hạ mình trước mặt Đức Chúa Trời khi con nghe lời Ngài phán dạy về đất nước này và về toàn dân. Con đã phủ phục trước mặt Ta, xé áo và khóc lóc trước mặt Ta nên Ta cũng nghe con, Chúa Hằng Hữu phán vậy.
28 Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of the same. So they brought the king word again.
Này, Ta sẽ không giáng họa như đã hứa cho đến khi con qua đời và được chôn bình an. Chính con sẽ không thấy những tai họa Ta sẽ đổ xuống đất nước và toàn dân này!’” Vậy, họ trở về và tâu trình thông điệp của bà với vua.
29 Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.
Vua ra lệnh triệu tập tất cả trưởng lão Giu-đa và Giê-ru-sa-lem.
30 And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the LORD.
Vua lên Đền Thờ với toàn dân Giu-đa và Giê-ru-sa-lem, cùng các thầy tế lễ, và những người Lê-vi—tất cả dân chúng từ già đến trẻ. Tại đó, vua đọc cho họ nghe mọi lời trong Sách Giao Ước đã tìm thấy trong Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu.
31 And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book.
Vua đứng trên bệ dành cho mình và lập giao ước trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu. Vua hứa nguyện theo Chúa Hằng Hữu hết lòng, hết linh hồn, vâng giữ các điều răn, luật lệ, và quy luật Ngài. Vua cũng hứa thi hành các giao ước đã ghi trong sách này.
32 And he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand [to it]. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.
Vua ra lệnh cho toàn dân ở Giê-ru-sa-lem và Bên-gia-min vâng giữ giao ước ấy. Dân cư Giê-ru-sa-lem cũng làm như vậy, họ cam kết vâng theo giao ước với Đức Chúa Trời, là Đức Chúa Trời của tổ phụ họ.
33 And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that [pertained] to the children of Israel, and made all that were present in Israel to serve, [even] to serve the LORD their God. [And] all his days they departed not from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.
Giô-si-a dẹp sạch tất cả thần tượng trong Ít-ra-ên và khiến mọi người đều phụng sự Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của họ. Suốt đời Giô-si-a, toàn dân không lìa bỏ Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của tổ phụ mình.
