1 Thessalonians 2
1 For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:
Porque ustedes mismos, hermanos, son conscientes de que nuestro encuentro entre ustedes no fue en vano;
2 But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.
Pero después de haber sufrido mucho dolor y haber sido atacados cruelmente como lo vieron, en Filipos, con la ayuda de Dios, les dimos las buenas nuevas sin miedo, aunque todo estaba en contra de nosotros.
3 For our exhortation [was] not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
Porque nuestra exhortación no viene del error, ni del corazón inmundo, ni del engaño;
4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.
Sino que así como las buenas nuevas nos fueron dadas por la aprobación de Dios, así también las damos; no como para agradar a los hombres, sino a Dios, por quien nuestros corazones son probados.
5 For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God [is] witness:
Porque es de conocimiento común entre ustedes que nunca usamos palabras falsas y suaves, y Dios es testigo de que en ningún momento estábamos secretamente deseando ganancia para nosotros mismos,
6 Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor [yet] of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.
O buscando la gloria de los hombres, de ustedes o de los demás, cuando podríamos haber hecho demandas como Apóstoles de Cristo.
7 But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:
Pero fuimos amables entre ustedes, como una mujer que cuida a sus pequeños:
8 So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.
Aun así, llenos de amoroso deseo por ustedes, nos deleitamos en darles no solo las buenas nuevas de Dios, sino incluso nuestras vidas, porque ustedes eran queridos para nosotros.
9 For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
Porque recuerden mis hermanos, de nuestros problemas y preocupaciones; cómo, trabajando noche y día, para que no fuéramos un problema para ninguno de ustedes, les dimos las buenas nuevas de Dios.
10 Ye [are] witnesses, and God [also], how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
Ustedes son testigos, con Dios, de cuán santa y recta y libre de todo mal fue nuestra forma de vida entre ustedes que tienen fe;
11 As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father [doth] his children,
Así como también saben, como un padre con sus hijos, les enseñamos y consolamos y exhortamos a cada uno de todos,
12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
Para que sus vidas sean agradables a Dios, quien les ha dado parte en su reino y su gloria.
13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received [it] not [as] the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
Y por esta causa todavía alabamos a Dios, que cuando la palabra llegó a tus oídos a través de nosotros, la recibieron, no como la palabra del hombre, sino, como realmente es, la palabra de Dios, que tiene vida. poder en ustedes que tienen fe.
14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they [have] of the Jews:
Porque ustedes, mis hermanos, tomaron como ejemplo las iglesias de Dios que están en Judea en Cristo Jesús; porque pasaron las mismas cosas de sus compatriotas los judíos;
15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
Que mataron al Señor Jesús y a los profetas, y a nosotros nos expulsaron violentamente; que son desagradables para Dios y están contra todos los hombres;
16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
Quienes, para completar la medida de sus pecados, nos impidieron dar la palabra de salvación a los gentiles; pero la ira de Dios está por venir sobre ellos en el grado más extremo.
17 But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.
Pero nosotros, mis hermanos, estando lejos de ustedes por un corto tiempo, en cuerpo pero no de corazón, tanto más procuramos con mucho deseo ver su rostro;
18 Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.
Por lo cual, intentamos venir a ustedes, incluso yo, Pablo, una y otra vez; pero Satanás nos impidió venir.
19 For what [is] our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? [Are] not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
Porque ¿cuál es nuestra esperanza o gozo o corona de gloria? ¿No lo son ustedes, ante nuestro Señor Jesús, en su venida?
20 For ye are our glory and joy.
Porque ustedes son nuestra gloria y nuestro gozo.
