1 Thessalonians 2
1 For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:
he bhraatara. h, yu. smanmadhye. asmaaka. m prave"so ni. sphalo na jaata iti yuuya. m svaya. m jaaniitha|
2 But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.
apara. m yu. smaabhi ryathaa"sraavi tathaa puurvva. m philipiinagare kli. s.taa ninditaa"sca santo. api vayam ii"svaraad utsaaha. m labdhvaa bahuyatnena yu. smaan ii"svarasya susa. mvaadam abodhayaama|
3 For our exhortation [was] not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
yato. asmaakam aade"so bhraantera"sucibhaavaad votpanna. h prava ncanaayukto vaa na bhavati|
4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.
kintvii"svare. naasmaan pariik. sya vi"svasaniiyaan mattvaa ca yadvat susa. mvaado. asmaasu samaarpyata tadvad vaya. m maanavebhyo na ruroci. samaa. naa. h kintvasmadanta. hkara. naanaa. m pariik. sakaaye"svaraaya ruroci. samaa. naa bhaa. saamahe|
5 For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God [is] witness:
vaya. m kadaapi stutivaadino naabhavaameti yuuya. m jaaniitha kadaapi chalavastre. na lobha. m naacchaadayaametyasmin ii"svara. h saak. sii vidyate|
6 Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor [yet] of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.
vaya. m khrii. s.tasya preritaa iva gauravaanvitaa bhavitum a"sak. syaama kintu yu. smatta. h parasmaad vaa kasmaadapi maanavaad gaurava. m na lipsamaanaa yu. smanmadhye m. rdubhaavaa bhuutvaavarttaamahi|
7 But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:
yathaa kaacinmaataa svakiiya"si"suun paalayati tathaa vayamapi yu. smaan kaa"nk. samaa. naa
8 So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.
yu. smabhya. m kevalam ii"svarasya susa. mvaada. m tannahi kintu svakiiyapraa. naan api daatu. m manobhirabhyala. saama, yato yuuyam asmaaka. m snehapaatraa. nyabhavata|
9 For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
he bhraatara. h, asmaaka. m "srama. h kle"sa"sca yu. smaabhi. h smaryyate yu. smaaka. m ko. api yad bhaaragrasto na bhavet tadartha. m vaya. m divaani"sa. m pari"sraamyanto yu. smanmadhya ii"svarasya susa. mvaadamagho. sayaama|
10 Ye [are] witnesses, and God [also], how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
apara nca vi"svaasino yu. smaan prati vaya. m kiid. rk pavitratvayathaarthatvanirdo. satvaacaari. no. abhavaametyasmin ii"svaro yuuya nca saak. si. na aadhve|
11 As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father [doth] his children,
apara nca yadvat pitaa svabaalakaan tadvad vaya. m yu. smaakam ekaika. m janam upadi. s.tavanta. h saantvitavanta"sca,
12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
ya ii"svara. h sviiyaraajyaaya vibhavaaya ca yu. smaan aahuutavaan tadupayuktaacara. naaya yu. smaan pravarttitavanta"sceti yuuya. m jaaniitha|
13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received [it] not [as] the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
yasmin samaye yuuyam asmaaka. m mukhaad ii"svare. na prati"sruta. m vaakyam alabhadhva. m tasmin samaye tat maanu. saa. naa. m vaakya. m na mattve"svarasya vaakya. m mattvaa g. rhiitavanta iti kaara. naad vaya. m nirantaram ii"svara. m dhanya. m vadaama. h, yatastad ii"svarasya vaakyam iti satya. m vi"svaasinaa. m yu. smaaka. m madhye tasya gu. na. h prakaa"sate ca|
14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they [have] of the Jews:
he bhraatara. h, khrii. s.taa"sritavatya ii"svarasya yaa. h samityo yihuudaade"se santi yuuya. m taasaam anukaari. no. abhavata, tadbhuktaa lokaa"sca yadvad yihuudilokebhyastadvad yuuyamapi svajaatiiyalokebhyo du. hkham alabhadhva. m|
15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
te yihuudiiyaa. h prabhu. m yii"su. m bhavi. syadvaadina"sca hatavanto. asmaan duuriik. rtavanta"sca, ta ii"svaraaya na rocante sarvve. saa. m maanavaanaa. m vipak. saa bhavanti ca;
16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
apara. m bhinnajaatiiyalokaanaa. m paritraa. naartha. m te. saa. m madhye susa. mvaadagho. sa. naad asmaan prati. sedhanti cettha. m sviiyapaapaanaa. m parimaa. nam uttarottara. m puurayanti, kintu te. saam antakaarii krodhastaan upakramate|
17 But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.
he bhraatara. h manasaa nahi kintu vadanena kiyatkaala. m yu. smatto. asmaaka. m vicchede jaate vaya. m yu. smaaka. m mukhaani dra. s.tum atyaakaa"nk. sayaa bahu yatitavanta. h|
18 Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.
dvirekak. rtvo vaa yu. smatsamiipagamanaayaasmaaka. m vi"se. sata. h paulasya mamaabhilaa. so. abhavat kintu "sayataano. asmaan nivaaritavaan|
19 For what [is] our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? [Are] not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
yato. asmaaka. m kaa pratyaa"saa ko vaananda. h ki. m vaa "slaaghyakirii. ta. m? asmaaka. m prabho ryii"sukhrii. s.tasyaagamanakaale tatsammukhasthaa yuuya. m ki. m tanna bhavi. syatha?
20 For ye are our glory and joy.
yuuyam evaasmaaka. m gauravaanandasvaruupaa bhavatha|
