< 1 Thessalonians 2 >

1 For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:
Qachalal, ix iwetaꞌm chi qas kꞌo xupatanij ri solinik ri xqabꞌan iwukꞌ.
2 But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.
Xuqujeꞌ iwetaꞌm chi pune xbꞌan kꞌax chaqe je laꞌ pa ri tinimit Filipos, xqakꞌamawaꞌj qachuqꞌabꞌ pa Dios rumal riꞌ xqatzijoj ri utz laj tzij chiꞌwe.
3 For our exhortation [was] not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
Xuqujeꞌ are xqatzijoj ri utz laj tzij chiꞌwe, xqabꞌij ri qas tzij, are xqaj xqabꞌan ri utzilal iwukꞌ, man are ta xqaj xqasubꞌ jachinaq.
4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.
Xane qas are ri Dios xchilibꞌen chaqe we utz laj tzij riꞌ, are waꞌ ri kaqaj kaqabꞌano. Man are ta kaqaj kujqaj cho jachinaq chik xane xwi kaqaj kujqaj cho ri Dios rumal are etaꞌmaninaq ri kaqanaꞌo xuqujeꞌ ri kaqachomaj.
5 For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God [is] witness:
Ri ix qas iwetaꞌm chi man xqabꞌij ta jun jastaq chiꞌwe xaq xwi rech kixqamenkꞌetij xuqujeꞌ rech kixqasubꞌu rech kaqachꞌek pwaq chiꞌwij. Ri Dios retaꞌm we jastaq riꞌ.
6 Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor [yet] of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.
Man are ta kaqaj chi nim kujiwilo o rech nim kujkil nikꞌaj winaq chik.
7 But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:
Man je ta xujnoꞌjin iwukꞌ jetaq ri taqal chaqe rumal cher uj, uj taqoꞌn rech ri Cristo, man xqata ta chiꞌwe ri kajawataj chaqe, xane je xujnoꞌjin iwukꞌ jetaq kanoꞌjin jun ixoq are kuꞌtubꞌisaj ri ral.
8 So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.
Xaq jeriꞌ rumal ri loqꞌanik ri kꞌo pa qanimaꞌ chiꞌwe kujkiꞌkotik man xwi ta rumal kaqatzijoj ri utz laj tzij rech ri Dios chiꞌwe xane we ta xujkwinik xqaya ta xuqujeꞌ riꞌ ri qakꞌaslemal rumal iwe.
9 For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
Wachalal, kanaꞌtaj riꞌ chiꞌwe chi rukꞌ chuqꞌabꞌ xuqujeꞌ rukꞌ kꞌax xqatzijoj chiꞌwe ri utz laj tzij rech ri Dios, xuqujeꞌ xujchakun iwukꞌ chi paqꞌij chi chaqꞌabꞌ rech man xujux taj jun eqaꞌn chiꞌwe.
10 Ye [are] witnesses, and God [also], how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
Ri Dios xuqujeꞌ ri ix qas xiwilo chi qas je xujnoꞌjin kojonelabꞌ iwukꞌ pa jun tyoxalaj kꞌaslemal, sukꞌ xuqujeꞌ sibꞌalaj chꞌajchꞌoj.
11 As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father [doth] his children,
Qas iwetaꞌm chi qas je qabꞌanom chiꞌwilik jetaq kubꞌan jun tat chike ri e ralkꞌwaꞌl.
12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
Xuqujeꞌ xqakoj qachuqꞌabꞌ chiꞌtaqchiꞌxik xuqujeꞌ chukubꞌisaxik ikꞌuꞌx rech kikꞌaslebꞌej jun jeꞌlik laj kꞌaslemal cho ri Dios. Areꞌ ix sikꞌininaq apanoq pa ri rajawarem xuqujeꞌ pa ri ujuluwem.
13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received [it] not [as] the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
Xaq jeriꞌ man kujtaniꞌ taj chuyaꞌik tyoxinik che ri Dios jeriꞌ rumal kaqato chi xikꞌamawaꞌj ri utzij ri Dios ri xqatzijoj xuqujeꞌ man xikꞌamawaꞌj taj jacha ri utzij ri winaq xane are utzij ri Dios, are kꞌu waꞌ we tzij riꞌ kachakun pa taq kanimaꞌ ri e kojonelabꞌ.
14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they [have] of the Jews:
Jeriꞌ qachalal, ri ix are xitereneꞌj ri xkikꞌut ri ukomontyox ri Dios pa Cristo Jesús chiꞌwach ri e kꞌo pa Judea, rumal aꞌreꞌ xiriq kꞌax pa kiqꞌabꞌ ri iwinaq jacha ri kꞌax ri xkiriq we e komontyox riꞌ pa kiqꞌabꞌ ri winaq aꞌj Israel.
15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
Are ri winaq aꞌj Israel xekamisan bꞌik ri Jesús xuqujeꞌ ri e qꞌalajisal taq utzij, are kꞌu ri uj xujkesaj loq. Man kaqaj ta ri kinoꞌjibꞌal cho ri Dios, sibꞌalaj itzel kenoꞌjin kukꞌ konojel ri winaq.
16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
Jeriꞌ rumal are kakaj kujkiqꞌatej rech man kaqatzijoj ta ri utzij ri Dios chike ri winaq ri man aꞌj Israel taj rech kekolotajik. Tajin kakitzꞌaqatisaj ri mak chikij rukꞌ ri tajin kakibꞌano. Kape kꞌu na ri nimalaj uqꞌatoj tzij ri Dios pa kiwiꞌ.
17 But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.
Are kꞌu ri uj qachalal, pune man xujkꞌojiꞌ iwukꞌ jun janipa qꞌotaj, ri qanimaꞌ kꞌo iwukꞌ, kaqakoj qachuqꞌabꞌ rech jun qꞌijal kixqasolij.
18 Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.
Qas kurayij ri qanimaꞌ kixqasolij, are kꞌu ri in in Pablo, kꞌi mul xinuqꞌatej ri itzel, rumal riꞌ man inbꞌenaq taj.
19 For what [is] our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? [Are] not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
Jeriꞌ rumal ¿jas kꞌu riꞌ ri kꞌulibꞌal qakꞌuꞌx, ri qakiꞌkotemal xuqujeꞌ ri rumal kaqanaꞌ nimal pa ri upetibꞌal ri Ajawxel? ¿La man kꞌu ix riꞌ ri kixqakꞌut cho ri Ajawxel?
20 For ye are our glory and joy.
Jeꞌ, ix riꞌ ri ix qakiꞌkotemal xuqujeꞌ rumal iwe kaqanaꞌ nimal.
