1 Thessalonians 2
1 For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:
Kamo mismo nakahibalo, mga igsoon, nga ang among pag-anha kaninyo wala masayang,
2 But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.
apan nakahibalo kamo nga miagi kami ug kalisod ug gipaulawan sa Pilipos. Wala kami kahadlok diha sa Dios nga misulti sa pulong sa Dios bisan sa grabeng kasamok.
3 For our exhortation [was] not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
Kay ang among pag-awhag dili gikan sa sayop, dili gikan sa kahugaw, dili gikan sa paglimbong,
4 But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.
apan tungod kay giaprubahan kami sa Dios nga gisaligan sa maayong balita, mao nga kami nagsulti dili aron magpahalipay sa mga tawo, kondili sa Dios nga nag-usisa sa among mga kasingkasing.
5 For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God [is] witness:
Kay kami wala migamit ug mga pulong nga ulog-ulog, sama sa inyong nahibaloan, ug dili sad sa pasumangil sa pagkahakog, saksi ang Dios,
6 Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor [yet] of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.
ug wala kami nangita ug himaya gikan sa tawo, bisan kaninyo ug sa uban, bisan pwede unta namo angkonon ang pribilehiyo isip mga apostoles ni Cristo.
7 But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:
Hinuon, kami nagmalumo sa inyoha sama sa inahan nga naghupay sa iyang kaugalingong mga anak.
8 So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.
Mao nga kami adunay paghigugma kaninyo; nalipay kami nga iambit kaninyo dili lang ang maayong balita sa Dios apan bisan ang among kaugalingong kinabuhi, kay kamo nahimo nga suod kaayo kanamo.
9 For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
Kay nahinumdoman ninyo, mga igsoon, ang among pagtrabaho ug paghago: nagtrabaho kami gabii ug adlaw aron dili magpabug-at sa bisan kinsa kaninyo, samtang among gisangyaw ang maayong balita sa Dios.
10 Ye [are] witnesses, and God [also], how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
Kamo ang mga saksi, ug ang Ginoo sad, kung unsa kabalaan, kamatarong, ug walay maikasaway ang uban sa among paggawi diha uban kaninyo nga mga tumutuo,
11 As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father [doth] his children,
sama sa pagkahibalo ninyo nga sa matag usa kaninyo, sama sa usa ka amahan sa iyang kaugalingong mga anak, gi-awhag ug gidasig kamo namo ug gasaksi,
12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
nga maglakaw kamo sa pamaagi nga takos sa Dios nga nagtawag kaninyo sa iyang kaugalingong gingharian ug himaya.
13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received [it] not [as] the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
Tungod niini nga hinungdan nagpasalamat sad kami kanunay sa Dios, nga sa dihang nadawat ninyo gikan kanamo ang pulong sa mensahe nga pulong sa Dios, gidawat kini ninyo nga dili pulong sa tawo apan kung unsa gyud siya, ang pulong sa Dios, nga naglihok usab kaninyo nga mga mituo.
14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they [have] of the Jews:
Kay kamo, mga igsoon, misundog sa mga iglesia sa Dios nga diha kang Cristo Jesus, nga tua sa Judea tungod kay miagi kamo ug kalisod nga parehas sa inyong kaugalingong kaubanan, sama sa ilang naagian sa mga Judio,
15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
nga mipatay kang Ginoong Jesus ug sa mga propeta, ug nagpalayas kanamo, ug wala nagpahalipay sa Dios apan naglutos sa tanang katawhan.
16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
Gibabagan kami nila sa pagsulti sa mga Gentil aron unta maluwas sila, aron kanunay pun-on ang ilang mga sala. Miabot na ang grabe nga kapungot kanila.
17 But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.
Kami, mga igsoon, nahibulag kaninyo sa mubo nga higayon, sa lawas lang apan dili sa kasingkasing, ug gibuhat namo ang tanan nga adunay dakong paghandom aron makita ang inyong dagway,
18 Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.
tungod kay gusto namo moanha kaninyo, ako si Pablo sa makausa pa, apan gibabagan kami ni Satanas.
19 For what [is] our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? [Are] not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
Kay unsa man ang among pagsalig, o kalipay, o korona sa himaya sa umaabot sa dihang mobalik ang atong Ginoong Jesus —dili ba kamo, sama sad sa uban?
20 For ye are our glory and joy.
Tungod kay kamo ang among himaya ug among kalipay.
