1 Kings 9
1 And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the LORD, and the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he was pleased to do,
Sau khi Sa-lô-môn xây dựng xong Đền Thờ của Chúa Hằng Hữu, cung điện, và những công trình kiến trúc khác,
2 That the LORD appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon.
Chúa Hằng Hữu hiện ra với Sa-lô-môn lần thứ hai, giống như lần thứ nhất Ngài hiện ra ở Ga-ba-ôn.
3 And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.
Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: “Ta có nghe lời con cầu xin. Ta đã thánh hóa Đền Thờ con vừa xây và đặt Danh Ta tại đó đời đời. Mắt và lòng Ta sẽ hướng đến nơi này mãi mãi.
4 And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, [and] wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:
Nếu con noi gương Đa-vít, cha con, đi trước mặt Ta với lòng chân thành, ngay thẳng, tuân giữ tất cả điều Ta truyền bảo, những luật lệ và quy tắc của Ta,
5 Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.
Ta sẽ làm cho triều đại của dòng họ con tồn tại vĩnh cửu trong Ít-ra-ên, theo như lời Ta hứa với Đa-vít, cha con: ‘Con cháu con sẽ ngồi trên ngai Ít-ra-ên mãi mãi.’
6 [But] if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments [and] my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them:
Ngược lại, nếu con hoặc con cháu con không theo Ta, không tuân giữ các điều răn, luật lệ Ta, đi phụng thờ các thần khác,
7 Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people:
Ta sẽ đày người Ít-ra-ên ra khỏi đất Ta đã cho họ. Còn Đền Thờ Ta đã thánh hóa sẽ bị phá bỏ khỏi mắt Ta. Ít-ra-ên sẽ trở nên một trò cười, một câu tục ngữ, một thành ngữ để cảnh cáo thế nhân.
8 And at this house, [which] is high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house?
Đền thờ này sẽ đổ nát, mọi người đi ngang qua sẽ trố mắt kêu lên: ‘Vì sao Chúa Hằng Hữu làm cho đất nước Ít-ra-ên và Đền Thờ ra nông nỗi này?’
9 And they shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath the LORD brought upon them all this evil.
Có người sẽ đáp: ‘Vì họ chối bỏ Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời mình, Đấng đã cứu họ ra khỏi Ai Cập, để theo thờ phụng các thần khác. Vì thế, Chúa Hằng Hữu giáng trên họ các tai họa này.’”
10 And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the LORD, and the king’s house,
Sa-lô-môn phải mất hai mươi năm mới xây cất xong Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu và cung điện.
11 ([Now] Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire, ) that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.
Sa-lô-môn nhượng cho Hi-ram, vua Ty-rơ, hai mươi thành trong đất Ga-li-lê, vì Vua Hi-ram đã cung ứng đầy đủ các nhu cầu về gỗ bá hương, trắc bá, và vàng cho Sa-lô-môn.
12 And Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they pleased him not.
Nhưng khi Hi-ram từ Ty-rơ đến xem các thành mà Sa-lô-môn đã trao cho mình thì không hài lòng về các thành đó,
13 And he said, What cities [are] these which thou hast given me, my brother? And he called them the land of Cabul unto this day.
nên nói: “Anh ơi, anh cho tôi những thành gì thế này?” Người gọi các thành ấy “Thành của Hoang Địa.” Ngày nay tên ấy vẫn còn.
14 And Hiram sent to the king sixscore talents of gold.
Tổng số vàng Hi-ram gửi cho Sa-lô-môn lên đến gần bốn tấn rưỡi.
15 And this [is] the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised; for to build the house of the LORD, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.
Vua Sa-lô-môn trưng dụng nhân công để xây Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu, cung điện, căn cứ Mi-lô, tường thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, và các thành Hát-so, Mơ-ghít-đô, và Ghê-xe.
16 [For] Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Canaanites that dwelt in the city, and given it [for] a present unto his daughter, Solomon’s wife.
(Ghê-xe trước kia là một thành của người Ca-na-an, bị Pha-ra-ôn, vua Ai Cập, đánh chiếm, đốt thành, giết dân, và đem thành cho con gái mình làm của hồi môn lúc thành hôn với Sa-lô-môn.
17 And Solomon built Gezer, and Beth-horon the nether,
Sa-lô-môn xây lại Ghê-xe). Ông còn xây thêm các thành Bết-hô-rôn Hạ,
18 And Baalath, and Tadmor in the wilderness, in the land,
Ba-lát, và Ta-ma trong hoang mạc.
19 And all the cities of store that Solomon had, and cities for his chariots, and cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.
Vua cũng xây các thành làm kho trữ lương thực, thành chứa chiến xa, thành dành cho kỵ binh ở, cùng tất cả kiến trúc Sa-lô-môn muốn thiết lập tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, Li-ban cũng như tại các nơi trong lãnh thổ mình.
20 [And] all the people [that were] left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, which [were] not of the children of Israel,
Những người còn sống sót không phải là người Ít-ra-ên gồm các dân tộc A-mô-rít, Hê-tít, Phê-rết, Hê-vi, và Giê-bu.
21 Their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel also were not able utterly to destroy, upon those did Solomon levy a tribute of bondservice unto this day.
Con cháu của những dân tộc này còn sót lại sau khi bị người Ít-ra-ên chinh phục. Vì vậy, Sa-lô-môn đã bắt họ phục dịch cho đến ngày nay.
22 But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no bondmen: but they [were] men of war, and his servants, and his princes, and his captains, and rulers of his chariots, and his horsemen.
Nhưng Sa-lô-môn không bắt người Ít-ra-ên phục dịch lao động mà chỉ chọn họ làm binh sĩ, công chức, quan chỉ huy, thủ lãnh chiến xa, và kỵ binh.
23 These [were] the chief of the officers that [were] over Solomon’s work, five hundred and fifty, which bare rule over the people that wrought in the work.
Có tất cả 550 người Ít-ra-ên điều khiển lao công thực hiện các công trình xây cất của Vua Sa-lô-môn.
24 But Pharaoh’s daughter came up out of the city of David unto her house which [Solomon] had built for her: then did he build Millo.
Sa-lô-môn đưa vợ mình, con gái Pha-ra-ôn, từ Thành Đa-vít lên cung điện ông vừa cất cho bà. Sau đó, ông xây thành Mi-lô.
25 And three times in a year did Solomon offer burnt offerings and peace offerings upon the altar which he built unto the LORD, and he burnt incense upon the altar that [was] before the LORD. So he finished the house.
Mỗi năm ba lần, Sa-lô-môn dâng lễ thiêu và lễ cầu an trên bàn thờ vua đã xây cho Chúa Hằng Hữu. Vua dâng hương trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu. Và vua chu toàn công trình xây cất Đền Thờ.
26 And king Solomon made a navy of ships in Ezion-geber, which [is] beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red sea, in the land of Edom.
Sa-lô-môn cũng cho đóng một đoàn tàu tại cảng Ê-xi-ôn Ghê-be, gần Ê-lát, bên bờ Biển Đỏ thuộc đất Ê-đôm.
27 And Hiram sent in the navy his servants, shipmen that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon.
Hi-ram gửi những người thành thạo ngành hàng hải đến giúp các thủy thủ của Sa-lô-môn.
28 And they came to Ophir, and fetched from thence gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought [it] to king Solomon.
Họ thực hiện nhiều chuyến đi tìm vàng tại Ô-phia, và đem về cho Sa-lô-môn đến gần mười sáu tấn vàng.
