Psalms 73

1 Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.

Un salmo de Asaf. Ciertamente Dios es bueno con Israel, a los puros de corazón.

2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.

Pero en cuanto a mí, mis pies estaban casi perdidos. Mis pasos estuvieron a punto de resbalar.

3 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

Porque tuve envidia de los arrogantes, cuando vi la prosperidad de los malvados.

4 For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.

Porque no hay luchas en su muerte, pero su fuerza es firme.

5 They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.

Están libres de las cargas de los hombres, ni están plagados como los demás hombres.

6 Therefore pride compasses them about as a chain; violence covers them as a garment.

Por eso el orgullo es como una cadena alrededor de su cuello. La violencia los cubre como una prenda.

7 Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.

Sus ojos están llenos de grasa. Sus mentes sobrepasan los límites de la presunción.

8 They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.

Se burlan y hablan con malicia. En la arrogancia, amenazan con la opresión.

9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walks through the earth.

Han puesto su boca en los cielos. Su lengua camina por la tierra.

10 Therefore his people return here: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.

Por eso su pueblo vuelve a ellos, y beben agua en abundancia.

11 And they say, How does God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?

Dicen: “¿Cómo lo sabe Dios? ¿Hay conocimiento en el Altísimo?”

12 Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.

He aquí, estos son los malvados. Estando siempre a gusto, aumentan sus riquezas.

13 Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence.

Seguramente he limpiado mi corazón en vano, y me lavé las manos con inocencia,

14 For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.

Porque todo el día he estado atormentado, y castigado cada mañana.

15 If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of your children.

Si hubiera dicho: “Voy a hablar así”, he aquí que habría traicionado a la generación de tus hijos.

16 When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;

Cuando traté de entender esto, era demasiado doloroso para mí...

17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

hasta que entré en el santuario de Dios, y consideró su último fin.

18 Surely you did set them in slippery places: you casted them down into destruction.

Seguramente los pusiste en lugares resbaladizos. Los arrojas a la destrucción.

19 How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.

¡Cómo se destruyen de repente! Están completamente arrastrados por los terrores.

20 As a dream when one awakes; so, O Lord, when you awake, you shall despise their image.

Como un sueño cuando uno se despierta, así que, Señor, cuando despierte, despreciará sus fantasías.

21 Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.

Porque mi alma se afligió. Estaba amargado en mi corazón.

22 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before you.

Era tan insensible e ignorante. Yo era una bestia bruta antes de ti.

23 Nevertheless I am continually with you: you have held me by my right hand.

Sin embargo, yo estoy continuamente con vosotros. Has sostenido mi mano derecha.

24 You shall guide me with your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

Me guiarás con tu consejo, y después recibirme en la gloria.

25 Whom have I in heaven but you? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside you.

¿A quién tengo en el cielo? No hay nadie en la tierra a quien desee además de ti.

26 My flesh and my heart fails: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

Mi carne y mi corazón fallan, pero Dios es la fuerza de mi corazón y mi porción para siempre.

27 For, lo, they that are far from you shall perish: you have destroyed all them that go a whoring from you.

Porque, he aquí, los que están lejos de ti perecerán. Has destruido a todos los que te son infieles.

28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all your works.

Pero me conviene acercarme a Dios. He hecho del Señor Yahvé mi refugio, para que pueda contar todas tus obras.
