< Luke 6 >

1 And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.
Kwasekusithi ngesabatha lesibili lakuqala edabula emasimini amabele, abafundi bakhe bakha izikhwebu, badla, bezihlikihla ngezandla.
2 And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do all of you that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days?
Kodwa abathile babaFarisi bathi kubo: Lenzelani okungavunyelwa ukwenziwa ngensuku zesabatha?
3 And Jesus answering them said, Have all of you not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungered, and they which were with him;
UJesu wasebaphendula, wathi: Alifundanga lalokho yini, uDavida akwenzayo, mhla elambile yena lababelaye,
4 How he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the showbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone?
ukuthi wayangena njani endlini kaNkulunkulu, wathatha izinkwa zokubukiswa, wasesidla, wanika lalabo ababelaye; ezingavunyelwa ukudliwa ngaphandle kwabapristi bodwa?
5 And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
Wasesithi kubo: INdodana yomuntu iyiNkosi leyesabatha.
6 And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered.
Kwasekusithi langelinye isabatha wangena esinagogeni, wafundisa; njalo kwakukhona umuntu lapho, osandla sakhe sokunene sasitshwabhene.
7 And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him.
Ababhali labaFarisi basebemqaphela, ukuthi uzasilisa ngesabatha yini; ukuze bathole okokumbeka icala.
8 But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.
Kodwa wayazi imicabango yabo, wathi kumuntu olesandla esitshwabheneyo: Sukuma, ume phakathi. Wasukuma-ke wema.
9 Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?
UJesu wasesithi kubo: Ngizalibuza ulutho: Kuvunyelwe yini ngamasabatha ukwenza okulungileyo kumbe ukwenza okubi? Ukusindisa impilo kumbe ukuchitha?
10 And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth your hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.
Wasebathalaza bonke, wathi kumuntu: Yelula isandla sakho. Wasesenza njalo. Isandla sakhe sasesisiliswa saphila njengesinye.
11 And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.
Basebegcwala ubuhlanya; bakhulumisana omunye komunye, ukuthi bangamenzani uJesu.
12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.
Kwasekusithi ngalezonsuku waphuma waya entabeni ukuyakhuleka; wahlala ubusuku bonke ekukhulekeni kuNkulunkulu.
13 And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;
Kwathi sekusile, wabizela kuye abafundi bakhe; wakhetha kubo abalitshumi lambili, ababiza futhi ngokuthi ngabaphostoli;
14 Simon, (whom he also named Peter, ) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,
uSimoni laye ambiza ngokuthi nguPetro, loAndreya umfowabo, uJakobe loJohane, uFiliphu loBartolomewu,
15 Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called Zelotes,
uMathewu loTomasi, uJakobe okaAlfewu, loSimoni owayethiwa ngumZelothi,
16 And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.
uJudasi kaJakobe, loJudasi Iskariyothi, laye owaba ngumnikeli.
17 And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;
Wasesehla labo, wema esigcawini, lexuku labafundi bakhe, lexuku elikhulu labantu abavela kuyo yonke iJudiya leJerusalema, langaselwandle lweTire leSidoni, ababezile ukumuzwa, lokusiliswa ezifweni zabo;
18 And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: (pneuma) and they were healed.
lalabo ababekhathazwa ngomoya abangcolileyo, basebesiliswa.
19 And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.
Lexuku lonke ladinga ukumthinta; ngoba kwaphuma amandla kuye, asebasilisa bonke.
20 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be all of you poor: for your is the kingdom of God.
Yena wasephakamisela amehlo akhe kubafundi bakhe wathi: Libusisiwe, bayanga, ngoba umbuso kaNkulunkulu ungowenu.
21 Blessed are all of you that hunger now: for all of you shall be filled. Blessed are all of you that weep now: for all of you shall laugh.
Libusisiwe, lina elilambileyo khathesi, ngoba lizasuthiswa. Libusisiwe, lina elikhalayo khathesi, ngoba lizahleka.
22 Blessed are all of you, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.
Libusisiwe, nxa abantu belizonda, njalo nxa belehlukanisa, belithuka, belahla ibizo lenu ngokungathi libi, ngenxa yeNdodana yomuntu.
23 Rejoice all of you in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.
Thokozani ngalolosuku leqe ngokuthokoza; ngoba khangelani, umvuzo wenu mkhulu ezulwini; ngoba oyise benza njalo kubaprofethi.
24 But woe unto you that are rich! for all of you have received your consolation.
Kodwa maye kini lina elinothileyo! Ngoba seliyemukele induduzo yenu.
25 Woe unto you that are full! for all of you shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for all of you shall mourn and weep.
Maye kini, lina elisuthiyo! Ngoba lizalamba. Maye kini, lina elihlekayo khathesi! Ngoba lizalila, likhale.
26 Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.
Maye kini, nxa abantu bonke bekhuluma kuhle ngani! Ngoba oyise babesenza njalo kubaprofethi bamanga.
27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
Kodwa ngithi kini elizwayo: Thandani izitha zenu, lenze okuhle kwabalizondayo,
28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
libusise abaliqalekisayo, libakhulekele abaliphatha kubi.
29 And unto him that strikes you on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that takes away your cloak forbid not to take your coat also.
Okutshaya esihlathini, mnike lesinye; lokwemuka isembatho sakho, ungali lesigqoko sakho.
30 Give to every man that asks of you; and of him that takes away your goods ask them not again.
Kodwa mnike wonke ocela kuwe; lokwemuka okwakho, ungabuyi ukubize kuye.
31 And as all of you would that men should do to you, do all of you also to them likewise.
Njalo njengalokho lithanda ukuthi abantu benze kini, lani yenzani njalo kubo.
32 For if all of you love them which love you, what thank have all of you? for sinners also love those that love them.
Njalo uba lithanda labo abalithandayo, yikubongwa bani elilakho? Ngoba lezoni zithanda labo abazithandayo.
33 And if all of you do good to them which do good to you, what thank have all of you? for sinners also do even the same.
Njalo uba lisenza okuhle kulabo abenza okuhle kini, yikubongwa bani elilakho? Ngoba lezoni zenza okufananayo.
34 And if all of you lend to them of whom all of you hope to receive, what thank have all of you? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.
Futhi uba liseboleka labo elithemba ukwemukela kubo, yikubongwa bani elilakho? Ngoba lezoni zeboleka izoni, ukuze zemukele izinto ezifananayo.
35 But love all of you your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and all of you shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
Kodwa thandani izitha zenu, lenze okuhle, leboleke, lingalindeli lutho olubuyiselwayo; lomvuzo wenu uzakuba mkhulu, njalo libe ngabantwana boPhezukonke; ngoba yena ulobubele kwabangabongiyo lababi.
36 Be all of you therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
Ngakho banini lesihawu, njengoba laye uYihlo elesihawu.
37 Judge not, and all of you shall not be judged: condemn not, and all of you shall not be condemned: forgive, and all of you shall be forgiven:
Lingahluleli, njalo alisoze lahlulelwe; lingalahli, njalo alisoze lilahlwe; thethelelani, njalo lizathethelelwa;
38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that all of you mete likewise it shall be measured to you again.
phanini, lani lizaphiwa; isilinganiso esihle, sigqitshiwe sahlukuzwa, siphuphuma, bazalipha esifubeni. Ngoba ngalesosilinganiso elilinganisa ngaso lizalinganiselwa ngaso futhi.
39 And he spoke a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?
Wasebatshela umfanekiso wokuthi: Kambe isiphofu singakhokhela isiphofu yini? Kabayikuwela bobabili emgodini yini?
40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.
Umfundi kamkhulu kulomfundisi wakhe; kodwa wonke opheleleyo uzakuba njengomfundisi wakhe.
41 And why behold you the splinter that is in your brother's eye, but perceive not the beam that is in your own eye?
Njalo ukhangelelani ucezwana oluselihlweni lomfowenu, kodwa ungalunanzeleli ugodo olukwelakho ilihlo?
42 Either how can you say to your brother, Brother, let me pull out the splinter that is in your eye, when you yourself behold not the beam that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of your own eye, and then shall you see clearly to pull out the splinter that is in your brother's eye.
Kumbe ungatsho njani kumfowenu ukuthi: Mfowethu, kahle ngikhuphe ucezwana oluselihlweni lakho, wena ungaluboni ugodo oluselihlweni lakho? Mzenzisi, qala ukhuphe ugodo elihlweni lakho, khona-ke uzabona kuhle ukukhupha ucezwana oluselihlweni lomfowenu.
43 For a good tree brings not forth corrupt fruit; neither does a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Ngoba kayisiso isihlahla esihle esithela isithelo esibi; futhi kayisiso isihlahla esibi esithela isithelo esihle.
44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
Ngoba yileso laleso isihlahla saziwa ngesaso isithelo. Ngoba kabaseli imikhiwa emeveni, futhi kakukhiwa isithelo sevini evikaneni.
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
Umuntu olungileyo uveza okulungileyo kokuligugu elilungileyo lenhliziyo yakhe, lomuntu omubi uveza okubi kokuligugu elibi lenhliziyo yakhe; ngoba umlomo wakhe ukhuluma ngokugcwala kwenhliziyo.
46 And why call all of you me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Kodwa lingibizelani ngokuthi: Nkosi, Nkosi, kodwa lingazenzi izinto engizitshoyo?
47 Whosoever comes to me, and hears my sayings, (logos) and does them, I will show you to whom he is like:
Wonke oza kimi awezwe amazwi ami njalo awenze, ngizalitshengisa ukuthi ufanana lobani;
48 He is like a man which built an house, and dug deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
ufanana lomuntu owakha indlu, wagebha watshonisa, wabeka isisekelo phezu kwedwala; kwathi ekufikeni kwempophoma, umfula watshaya kuleyondlu, kodwa wawungelamandla okuyinyikinya; ngoba yayisekelwe phezu kwedwala.
49 But he that hears, and does not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
Kodwa owezwayo njalo angawenzi unjengomuntu owakha indlu emhlabathini ingelasisekelo; umfula wayitshaya, njalo yahle yawa, futhi kwaba kukhulu ukudilika kwaleyondlu.
