Luke 21
1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
Jésus, ayant levé les yeux, vit les riches qui mettaient leurs offrandes dans le tronc.
2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
Il vit aussi une femme, une veuve très pauvre, qui y mettait deux pites;
3 And he said, Truthfully I say unto you, that this poor widow has cast in more than they all:
et il dit: «Je vous assure que cette pauvre veuve a mis plus que personne,
4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her destitution has cast in all the living that she had.
car tous les autres ont fait offrande à Dieu de leur superflu, tandis qu'elle a donné de son nécessaire, tout ce qu'elle avait pour vivre.
5 And as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,
Comme quelques personnes parlaient du temple, des pierres magnifiques et des offrandes qui l'ornent, Jésus dit:
6 As for these things which all of you behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
«Le temps viendra où, de tout ce que vous regardez là, il ne restera pierre sur pierre qui ne soit renversée.»
7 And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?
Ses disciples lui demandèrent: «Maître, quand sera-ce donc, et quel sera le signe précurseur de cet événement?»
8 And he said, Take heed that all of you be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draws near: go all of you not therefore after them.
Il dit: «Prenez garde de vous laisser séduire; car plusieurs viendront sous mon nom, disant: «C'est moi qui suis le Messie, et le temps est proche.» Ne vous attachez pas à eux.
9 But when all of you shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.
Quand vous entendrez parler de guerres et de troubles, ne vous alarmez pas; car il faut que cela arrive premièrement, mais la fin ne viendra pas de sitôt.»
10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
Alors il ajouta: «Une nation s'élèvera contre une nation, et un royaume contre un royaume;
11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
il y aura de grands tremblements de terre, et çà et là des pestes et des famines; et il paraîtra dans le ciel d'effrayants phénomènes et de grands signes.
12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
Mais auparavant l’on se saisira de vous, et l’on vous persécutera: on vous traînera dans les synagogues et dans les prisons; on vous traduira devant les rois et les gouverneurs à cause de mon nom.
13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
Cela vous arrivera pour que vous me rendiez témoignage.
14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what all of you shall answer:
Mettez-vous donc bien dans l'esprit de ne point préparer de défense,
15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
car je vous donnerai une parole et une sagesse, à laquelle tous vos adversaires ne pourront ni répondre, ni résister.
16 And all of you shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
Vous serez livrés même par vos pères et par vos mères, par vos frères, par vos parents et par vos amis; plusieurs d'entre vous seront mis à mort,
17 And all of you shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
et vous serez haïs de tout le monde à cause de mon nom;
18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
mais il ne se perdra pas un cheveu de votre tête:
19 In your patience possess all of you your souls.
par votre persévérance vous conquerrez vos âmes.»
20 And when all of you shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
«Lorsque vous verrez que Jérusalem va être investie par les armées, sachez que sa ruine est proche.
21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter therein.
Alors que ceux qui sont en Judée s'enfuient aux montagnes; que ceux qui demeurent dans la ville en sortent, et que ceux qui demeurent dans les campagnes n'y entrent point;
22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
parce que ce sont les temps où la justice va accomplir tout ce qui est écrit.
23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
Malheur aux femmes qui seront enceintes et à celles qui allaiteront en ce temps-là! car une grande calamité fondra sur le pays, et un grand châtiment sera, infligé à ce peuple:
24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
les uns tomberont sous le tranchant de l'épée, les autres seront emmenés en esclavage parmi toutes les nations, et Jérusalem sera foulée par les Gentils, jusqu’à ce que les temps des Gentils soient accomplis.
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
Et il y aura des signes extraordinaires dans le soleil, dans la lune et dans les étoiles; et sur la terre, on verra l'angoisse des nations troublées par le fracas de la mer et des flots,
26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
et celle des hommes mourant de frayeur dans l'attente des événements qui menacent la terre; car les puissances des cieux seront ébranlées.
27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Alors on verra le Fils de l'homme venir dans une nuée, revêtu d'une grande puissance et d'une grande gloire.»
28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws nigh.
Quand ces phénomènes commenceront à arriver redressez-vous et levez la tête, parce que votre délivrance approche.
29 And he spoke to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
Et il ajouta une parabole: «Voyez le figuier et tous les arbres:
30 When they now shoot forth, all of you see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
dès qu'ils ont commencé à pousser, vous connaissez de vous-mêmes, en les voyant, que déjà l'été est proche;
31 So likewise all of you, when all of you see these things come to pass, know all of you that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
de même, quand vous verrez ces événements se produire, sachez que le royaume de Dieu est proche.
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
En vérité, je vous dis que cette génération ne passera point, que tous ces événements n'arrivent.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words (logos) shall not pass away.
Le ciel et la terre passeront, mais mes paroles ne passeront point.
34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with worldly excess, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unexpectedly.
Prenez garde à vous-mêmes; craignez que vos coeurs ne viennent à s'appesantir par les excès, par l'ivresse et par les soucis de la vie, et que ce jour ne fonde sur vous à l’improviste;
35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
car il viendra, comme un filet, s'abattre sur tous ceux qui habitent sur la face de la terre.
36 Watch all of you therefore, and pray always, that all of you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
Mais veillez, priant en tout temps, afin d'être jugés dignes d'échapper à tous ces malheurs à venir, et de trouver place devant le Fils de l'homme.»
37 And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.
Jésus passait ses journées dans le temple, à enseigner, et il s'en allait passer les nuits à la montagne appelée Bois d'oliviers;
38 And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, in order to hear him.
et tout le peuple venait dès le matin vers lui, dans le temple, pour l'entendre.
