Luke 18
1 And he spoke a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
También les contó una parábola para que oraran siempre y no se dieran por vencidos,
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
diciendo: “Había un juez en cierta ciudad que no temía a Dios ni respetaba a los hombres.
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
En aquella ciudad había una viuda que acudía a menudo a él diciendo: “Defiéndeme de mi adversario”.
4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
Él no quiso hacerlo durante un tiempo; pero después se dijo a sí mismo: ‘Aunque no temo a Dios ni respeto a los hombres,
5 Yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
sin embargo, como esta viuda me molesta, la defenderé, o de lo contrario me agotará con sus continuas visitas.’”
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge says.
El Señor dijo: “Escuchen lo que dice el juez injusto.
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
¿No va a vengar Dios a sus elegidos, que claman a él día y noche, y sin embargo tiene paciencia con ellos?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on the earth?
Os digo que los vengará pronto. Sin embargo, cuando venga el Hijo del Hombre, ¿encontrará fe en la tierra?”
9 And he spoke this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
También dijo esta parábola a ciertas personas que estaban convencidas de su propia justicia y que despreciaban a todos los demás:
10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
“Dos hombres subieron al templo a orar; uno era fariseo y el otro recaudador de impuestos.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank you, that I am not as other men are, extortionists, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
El fariseo se puso de pie y oró a solas así ‘Dios, te doy gracias porque no soy como los demás hombres: extorsionadores, injustos, adúlteros, ni tampoco como este recaudador de impuestos.
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
Ayuno dos veces por semana. Doy el diezmo de todo lo que recibo”.
13 And the publican, standing far off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but stroke upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
Pero el recaudador de impuestos, que estaba lejos, ni siquiera alzaba los ojos al cielo, sino que se golpeaba el pecho diciendo: “¡Dios, ten piedad de mí, que soy un pecador!
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalts himself shall be brought low; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.
Os digo que éste bajó a su casa justificado antes que el otro; porque todo el que se enaltece será humillado, pero el que se humilla será enaltecido.”
15 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
También le traían sus bebés para que los tocara. Pero los discípulos, al verlo, los reprendieron.
16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
Jesús los llamó, diciendo: “Dejad que los niños vengan a mí y no se lo impidáis, porque el Reino de Dios es de los que son como ellos.
17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
Os aseguro que el que no reciba el Reino de Dios como un niño, no entrará en él.”
18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? (aiōnios g166)
Un gobernante le preguntó: “Maestro bueno, ¿qué debo hacer para heredar la vida eterna?” (aiōnios g166)
19 And Jesus said unto him, Why call you me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
Jesús le preguntó: “¿Por qué me llamas bueno? Nadie es bueno, sino uno: Dios.
20 You know the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour your father and your mother.
Tú conoces los mandamientos: ‘No cometerás adulterio’, ‘No matarás’, ‘No robarás’, ‘No darás falso testimonio’, ‘Honra a tu padre y a tu madre’.”
21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
Dijo: “He observado todas estas cosas desde mi juventud”.
22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lack you one thing: sell all that you have, and distribute unto the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
Al oír esto, Jesús le dijo: “Todavía te falta una cosa. Vende todo lo que tienes y repártelo entre los pobres. Así tendrás un tesoro en el cielo; entonces ven y sígueme”.
23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
Pero al oír estas cosas, se puso muy triste, porque era muy rico.
24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
Jesús, viendo que se ponía muy triste, dijo: “¡Qué difícil es para los que tienen riquezas entrar en el Reino de Dios!
25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Porque es más fácil que un camello entre por el ojo de una aguja que un rico entre en el Reino de Dios.”
26 And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
Los que lo oyeron dijeron: “Entonces, ¿quién puede salvarse?”.
27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
Pero él dijo: “Lo que es imposible para los hombres es posible para Dios”.
28 Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed you.
Pedro dijo: “Mira, lo hemos dejado todo y te hemos seguido”.
29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that has left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,
Les dijo: “Os aseguro que no hay nadie que haya dejado casa, o mujer, o hermanos, o padres, o hijos, por el Reino de Dios,
31 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
Tomó aparte a los doce y les dijo: “Mirad, vamos a subir a Jerusalén, y se cumplirán todas las cosas que están escritas por los profetas acerca del Hijo del Hombre.
32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully pleaded, and spitted on:
Porque será entregado a los gentiles, será escarnecido, tratado con vergüenza y escupido.
33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.
Lo azotarán y lo matarán. Al tercer día resucitará”.
34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying (rhema) was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.
No entendieron nada de esto. Este dicho se les ocultó, y no entendieron las cosas que se decían.
35 And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:
Al llegar a Jericó, un ciego estaba sentado junto al camino, pidiendo limosna.
36 And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.
Al oír pasar una multitud, preguntó qué significaba aquello.
37 And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passes by.
Le dijeron que pasaba Jesús de Nazaret.
38 And he cried, saying, Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me.
Él gritó: “¡Jesús, hijo de David, ten piedad de mí!”.
39 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, You son of David, have mercy on me.
Los que iban delante le reprendieron para que se callara; pero él gritó aún más: “¡Hijo de David, ten compasión de mí!”
40 And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,
Parado, Jesús mandó que lo trajeran hacia él. Cuando se hubo acercado, le preguntó:
41 Saying, What will you that I shall do unto you? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.
“¿Qué quieres que haga?”. Dijo: “Señor, que vuelva a ver”.
42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive your sight: your faith has saved you.
Jesús le dijo: “Recibe la vista. Tu fe te ha sanado”.
43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.
Inmediatamente recibió la vista y lo siguió, glorificando a Dios. Todo el pueblo, al verlo, alabó a Dios.
