Luke 18
1 And he spoke a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
いつでも祈るべきであり、失望してはならないことを教えるために、イエスは彼らにたとえを話された。
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
「ある町に、神を恐れず、人を人とも思わない裁判官がいた。
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
その町に、ひとりのやもめがいたが、彼のところにやって来ては、『私の相手をさばいて、私を守ってください。』と言っていた。
4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
彼は、しばらくは取り合わないでいたが、後には心ひそかに『私は神を恐れず人を人とも思わないが、
5 Yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
どうも、このやもめは、うるさくてしかたがないから、この女のために裁判をしてやることにしよう。でないと、ひっきりなしにやって来てうるさくてしかたがない。』と言った。」
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge says.
主は言われた。「不正な裁判官の言っていることを聞きなさい。
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
まして神は、夜昼神を呼び求めている選民のためにさばきをつけないで、いつまでもそのことを放っておかれることがあるでしょうか。
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on the earth?
あなたがたに言いますが、神は、すみやかに彼らのために正しいさばきをしてくださいます。しかし、人の子が来たとき、はたして地上に信仰が見られるでしょうか。」
9 And he spoke this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
自分を義人だと自任し、他の人々を見下している者たちに対しては、イエスはこのようなたとえを話された。
10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
「ふたりの人が、祈るために宮に上った。ひとりはパリサイ人で、もうひとりは取税人であった。
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank you, that I am not as other men are, extortionists, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
パリサイ人は、立って、心の中でこんな祈りをした。『神よ。私はほかの人々のようにゆする者、不正な者、姦淫する者ではなく、ことにこの取税人のようではないことを、感謝します。
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
私は週に二度断食し、自分の受けるものはみな、その十分の一をささげております。』
13 And the publican, standing far off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but stroke upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
ところが、取税人は遠く離れて立ち、目を天に向けようともせず、自分の胸をたたいて言った。『神さま。こんな罪人の私をあわれんでください。』
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalts himself shall be brought low; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.
あなたがたに言うが、この人のほうが、前の人よりも、義と認められ、家に帰って行きました。なぜなら、だれでも自分を高くする者は低くされ、自分を低くする者は高くされるからです。」
15 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
イエスにさわっていただこうとして、人々がその幼子たちを、みもとに連れて来た。ところが、弟子たちがそれを見てしかった。
16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
しかしイエスは、幼子たちを呼び寄せて、こう言われた。「子どもたちをわたしのところに来させなさい。止めてはいけません。神の国は、このような者たちのものです。
17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
まことに、あなたがたに告げます。子どものように神の国を受け入れる者でなければ、決してそこに、はいることはできません。」
18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? (aiōnios g166)
またある役人が、イエスに質問して言った。「尊い先生。私は何をしたら、永遠のいのちを自分のものとして受けることができるでしょうか。」 (aiōnios g166)
19 And Jesus said unto him, Why call you me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
イエスは彼に言われた。「なぜ、わたしを『尊い』と言うのですか。尊い方は、神おひとりのほかにはだれもありません。
20 You know the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour your father and your mother.
戒めはあなたもよく知っているはずです。『姦淫してはならない。殺してはならない。盗んではならない。偽証を立ててはならない。父と母を敬え。』」
21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
すると彼は言った。「そのようなことはみな、小さい時から守っております。」
22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lack you one thing: sell all that you have, and distribute unto the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
イエスはこれを聞いて、その人に言われた。「あなたには、まだ一つだけ欠けたものがあります。あなたの持ち物を全部売り払い、貧しい人々に分けてやりなさい。そうすれば、あなたは天に宝を積むことになります。そのうえで、わたしについて来なさい。」
23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
すると彼は、これを聞いて、非常に悲しんだ。たいへんな金持ちだったからである。
24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
イエスは彼を見てこう言われた。「裕福な者が神の国にはいることは、何とむずかしいことでしょう。
25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
金持ちが神の国にはいるよりは、らくだが針の穴を通るほうがもっとやさしい。」
26 And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
これを聞いた人々が言った。「それでは、だれが救われることができるでしょう。」
27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
イエスは言われた。「人にはできないことが、神にはできるのです。」
28 Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed you.
すると、ペテロが言った。「ご覧ください。私たちは自分の家を捨てて従ってまいりました。」
29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that has left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,
イエスは彼らに言われた。「まことに、あなたがたに告げます。神の国のために、家、妻、兄弟、両親、子どもを捨てた者で、だれひとりとして、
31 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
さてイエスは、十二弟子をそばに呼んで、彼らに話された。「さあ、これから、わたしたちはエルサレムに向かって行きます。人の子について預言者たちが書いているすべてのことが実現されるのです。
32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully pleaded, and spitted on:
人の子は異邦人に引き渡され、そして彼らにあざけられ、はずかしめられ、つばきをかけられます。
33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.
彼らは人の子をむちで打ってから殺します。しかし、人の子は三日目によみがえります。」
34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying (rhema) was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.
しかし弟子たちには、これらのことが何一つわからなかった。彼らには、このことばは隠されていて、話された事が理解できなかった。
35 And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:
イエスがエリコに近づかれたころ、ある盲人が、道ばたにすわり、物ごいをしていた。
36 And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.
群衆が通って行くのを耳にして、これはいったい何事ですか、と尋ねた。
37 And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passes by.
ナザレのイエスがお通りになるのだ、と知らせると、
38 And he cried, saying, Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me.
彼は大声で、「ダビデの子のイエスさま。私をあわれんでください。」と言った。
39 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, You son of David, have mercy on me.
彼を黙らせようとして、先頭にいた人々がたしなめたが、盲人は、ますます「ダビデの子よ。私をあわれんでください。」と叫び立てた。
40 And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,
イエスは立ち止まって、彼をそばに連れて来るように言いつけられた。
41 Saying, What will you that I shall do unto you? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.
彼が近寄って来たので、「わたしに何をしてほしいのか。」と尋ねられると、彼は、「主よ。目が見えるようになることです。」と言った。
42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive your sight: your faith has saved you.
イエスが彼に、「見えるようになれ。あなたの信仰があなたを直したのです。」と言われると、
43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.
彼はたちどころに目が見えるようになり、神をあがめながらイエスについて行った。これを見て民はみな神を賛美した。
