Luke 12
1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware all of you of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
Mientras tanto, cuando se había reunido una multitud de muchos miles de personas, tanto que se pisoteaban unos a otros, comenzó a decir a sus discípulos, en primer lugar: “Guardaos de la levadura de los fariseos, que es la hipocresía.
2 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.
Pero no hay nada encubierto que no se revele, ni oculto que no se sepa.
3 Therefore whatsoever all of you have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which all of you have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
Por tanto, lo que habéis dicho en la oscuridad se oirá en la luz. Lo que habéis dicho al oído en las habitaciones interiores se proclamará en las azoteas.
4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
“Os digo, amigos míos, que no tengáis miedo de los que matan el cuerpo, y después no tienen más que hacer.
5 But I will forewarn you whom all of you shall fear: Fear him, which after he has killed has power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. (Geenna g1067)
Pero os advertiré a quién debéis temer. Temed a aquel que, después de haber matado, tiene poder para arrojar a la Gehena. Sí, os digo que le temáis. (Geenna g1067)
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
“¿No se venden cinco gorriones por dos monedas de asaria? Ni uno solo de ellos es olvidado por Dios.
7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: all of you are of more value than many sparrows.
Pero los cabellos de tu cabeza están todos contados. Por eso no tengas miedo. Vosotros tenéis más valor que muchos gorriones.
8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
“Os digo que todo el que me confiese ante los hombres, el Hijo del Hombre lo hará también ante los ángeles de Dios;
9 But he that denies me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
pero el que me niegue en presencia de los hombres, será negado en presencia de los ángeles de Dios.
10 And whosoever shall speak a word (logos) against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemes against the Holy Spirit (pneuma) it shall not be forgiven.
Todo el que diga una palabra contra el Hijo del Hombre será perdonado, pero los que blasfemen contra el Espíritu Santo no serán perdonados.
11 And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take all of you no thought how or what thing all of you shall answer, or what all of you shall say:
Cuando os lleven ante las sinagogas, los gobernantes y las autoridades, no os preocupéis por cómo o qué vais a responder o qué vais a decir;
12 For the Holy Spirit (pneuma) shall teach you in the same hour what all of you ought to say.
porque el Espíritu Santo os enseñará en esa misma hora lo que debéis decir.”
13 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.
Uno de la multitud le dijo: “Maestro, dile a mi hermano que reparta la herencia conmigo”.
14 And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?
Pero él le dijo: “Hombre, ¿quién me ha hecho juez o árbitro sobre vosotros?”
15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possesses.
Él les dijo: “¡Cuidado! Guardaos de la codicia, porque la vida de un hombre no consiste en la abundancia de los bienes que posee.”
16 And he spoke a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
Les contó una parábola, diciendo: “La tierra de un hombre rico producía en abundancia.
17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
El hombre reflexionaba sobre su situación, diciendo: “¿Qué voy a hacer, porque no tengo espacio para almacenar mis cosechas?
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
Derribaré mis graneros y construiré otros más grandes, y allí almacenaré todo mi grano y mis bienes.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have much goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
Le diré a mi alma: “Alma, tienes muchos bienes acumulados para muchos años. Descansa, come, bebe y alégrate”.
20 But God said unto him, You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: then whose shall those things be, which you have provided?
“Pero Dios le dijo: ‘Necio, esta noche tu alma es requerida. Las cosas que has preparado, ¿de quién serán?’
21 So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
Así es el que acumula tesoros para sí mismo y no es rico para con Dios.”
22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what all of you shall eat; neither for the body, what all of you shall put on.
Dijo a sus discípulos: “Por eso os digo que no os preocupéis por vuestra vida, por lo que vais a comer, ni por vuestro cuerpo, por lo que vais a vestir.
23 The life is more than food, and the body is more than raiment.
La vida es más que el alimento, y el cuerpo más que el vestido.
24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them: how much more are all of you better than the fowls?
Consideren a los cuervos: no siembran, ni cosechan, no tienen almacén ni granero, y Dios los alimenta. ¡Cuánto más valéis vosotros que las aves!
25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
¿Quién de vosotros puede añadir un codo a su estatura por estar ansioso?
26 If all of you then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take all of you thought for the rest?
Pues si no sois capaces de hacer ni siquiera lo más mínimo, ¿por qué os preocupáis por lo demás?
27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Considerad los lirios, cómo crecen. No trabajan, ni hilan; pero os digo que ni siquiera Salomón, con toda su gloria, se vistió como uno de ellos.
28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O all of you of little faith?
Pero si así viste Dios a la hierba del campo, que hoy existe y mañana se echa en el horno, ¿cuánto más os vestirá a vosotros, hombres de poca fe?
29 And seek not all of you what all of you shall eat, or what all of you shall drink, neither be all of you of doubtful mind.
“No busquéis lo que vais a comer o lo que vais a beber, ni os preocupéis.
30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knows that all of you have need of these things.
Porque las naciones del mundo buscan todas estas cosas, pero vuestro Padre sabe que necesitáis estas cosas.
31 But rather seek all of you the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Pero buscad el Reino de Dios, y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas.
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
“No tengáis miedo, pequeño rebaño, porque a vuestro Padre le ha parecido bien daros el Reino.
33 Sell that all of you have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that fails not, where no thief approaches, neither moth corrupts.
Vendan lo que tienen y den regalos a los necesitados. Haceos bolsas que no envejecen, un tesoro en los cielos que no falla, donde ningún ladrón se acerca y ninguna polilla destruye.
34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Porque donde esté vuestro tesoro, allí estará también vuestro corazón.
35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
“Tened el talle vestido y las lámparas encendidas.
36 And all of you yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he comes and knocks, they may open unto him immediately.
Sed como hombres que velan por su señor cuando vuelve del banquete de bodas, para que cuando venga y llame, le abran enseguida.
37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he comes shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to food, and will come forth and serve them.
Bienaventurados los siervos a los que el Señor encuentre velando cuando venga. Ciertamente os digo que se vestirá, los hará sentar y vendrá a servirles.
38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
Serán bienaventurados si viene en la segunda o tercera vigilia y los encuentra así.
39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.
Pero sabed esto, que si el dueño de la casa hubiera sabido a qué hora iba a venir el ladrón, habría vigilado y no habría permitido que entraran en su casa.
40 Be all of you therefore ready also: for the Son of man comes at an hour when all of you think not.
Por tanto, estad también preparados, porque el Hijo del Hombre vendrá a una hora que no esperáis.”
41 Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speak you this parable unto us, or even to all?
Pedro le dijo: “Señor, ¿nos cuentas esta parábola a nosotros o a todo el mundo?”.
42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season?
El Señor dijo: “¿Quién es, pues, el administrador fiel y prudente, al que su señor pondrá al frente de su casa, para que les dé su ración de comida en los momentos oportunos?
43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing.
Dichoso aquel siervo al que su señor encuentre haciendo eso cuando venga.
44 Truthfully I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he has.
En verdad os digo que le pondrá al frente de todo lo que tiene.
45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delays his coming; and shall begin to beat the male servants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;
Pero si ese siervo dice en su corazón: “Mi señor tarda en venir”, y comienza a golpear a los siervos y a las siervas, y a comer y a beber y a embriagarse,
46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looks not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
entonces el señor de ese siervo vendrá en un día que no lo espera y a una hora que no conoce, y lo partirá en dos, y pondrá su porción con los infieles.
47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
Aquel siervo que conocía la voluntad de su señor, y no se preparó ni hizo lo que él quería, será azotado con muchos azotes,
48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
pero el que no sabía, y hacía cosas dignas de azotes, será azotado con pocos azotes. A quien se le dio mucho, se le exigirá mucho; y a quien se le confió mucho, se le pedirá más.
49 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?
“He venido a arrojar fuego sobre la tierra. Ojalá estuviera ya encendido.
50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!
Pero tengo un bautismo con el que ser bautizado, ¡y qué angustia tengo hasta que se cumpla!
51 Suppose all of you that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
¿Creéis que he venido a dar paz en la tierra? Os digo que no, sino más bien para dividir.
52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
Porque a partir de ahora, en una casa habrá cinco divididos, tres contra dos, y dos contra tres.
53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Estarán divididos, el padre contra el hijo, y el hijo contra el padre; la madre contra la hija, y la hija contra su madre; la suegra contra su nuera, y la nuera contra su suegra.”
54 And he said also to the people, When all of you see a cloud rise out of the west, immediately all of you say, There comes a shower; and so it is.
También dijo a las multitudes: “Cuando veis una nube que se levanta por el oeste, enseguida decís: ‘Va a llover’, y así sucede.
55 And when all of you see the south wind blow, all of you say, There will be heat; and it comes to pass.
Cuando sopla un viento del sur, decís: ‘Habrá un calor abrasador’, y así sucede.
56 All of you hypocrites, all of you can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that all of you do not discern this time?
¡Hipócritas! Sabéis interpretar el aspecto de la tierra y del cielo, pero ¿cómo es que no interpretáis este tiempo?
57 Yea, and why even of yourselves judge all of you not what is right?
“¿Por qué no juzgáis por vosotros mismos lo que es justo?
58 When you go with your adversary to the magistrate, as you are in the way, give diligence that you may be delivered from him; lest he hale you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer cast you into prison.
Porque cuando vayáis con vuestro adversario ante el magistrado, procurad con diligencia en el camino libraros de él, no sea que os arrastre al juez, y el juez os entregue al oficial, y el oficial os meta en la cárcel.
59 I tell you, you shall not depart thence, till you have paid the very last mite.
Te digo que de ninguna manera saldrás de allí hasta que hayas pagado hasta el último centavo.”
