< Leviticus 19 >

1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, All of you shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.
“Speak to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and you have said to them: You are holy, because I, your God YHWH, [am] holy.
3 All of you shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.
You each fear his mother and his father, and you keep My Sabbaths; I [am] your God YHWH.
4 Turn all of you not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God.
You do not turn to the idols, and you do not make a molten god for yourselves; I [am] your God YHWH.
5 And if all of you offer a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD, all of you shall offer it at your own will.
And when you sacrifice a sacrifice of peace-offerings to YHWH, you sacrifice it at your pleasure;
6 It shall be eaten the same day all of you offer it, and on the next day: and if ought remain until the third day, it shall be burnt in the fire.
it is eaten in the day of your sacrificing [it], and on the next day, and that which is left to the third day is burned with fire,
7 And if it be eaten at all on the third day, it is abominable; it shall not be accepted.
and if it is really eaten on the third day, it [is] an abomination, it is not pleasing,
8 Therefore every one that eats it shall bear his iniquity, because he has profaned the hallowed thing of the LORD: and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
and he who is eating it bears his iniquity, for he has defiled the holy thing of YHWH, and that person has been cut off from his people.
9 And when all of you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field, neither shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest.
And in your reaping the harvest of your land you do not completely reap the corner of your field, and you do not gather the gleaning of your harvest,
10 And you shall not glean your vineyard, neither shall you gather every grape of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.
and you do not glean your vineyard, even the omitted part of your vineyard you do not gather, you leave them for the poor and for the sojourner; I [am] your God YHWH.
11 All of you shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.
You do not steal, nor feign, nor lie—each against his fellow.
12 And all of you shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shall you profane the name of your God: I am the LORD.
And you do not swear by My Name for falsehood, or you have defiled the Name of your God; I [am] YHWH.
13 You shall not defraud your neighbour, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with you all night until the morning.
You do not oppress your neighbor, nor take plunder; the wages of the hired worker do not remain with you until morning.
14 You shall not curse the deaf, nor put a stumbling block before the blind, but shall fear your God: I am the LORD.
You do not revile the deaf; and you do not put a stumbling block before the blind; and you have been afraid of your God; I [am] YHWH.
15 All of you shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: you shall not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbour.
You do not do perversity in judgment; you do not lift up the face of the poor, nor honor the face of the great; you judge your fellow in righteousness.
16 You shall not go up and down as a talebearer among your people: neither shall you stand against the blood of your neighbour; I am the LORD.
You do not go slandering among your people; you do not stand against the blood of your neighbor; I [am] YHWH.
17 You shall not hate your brother in your heart: you shall in any way rebuke your neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.
You do not hate your brother in your heart; you certainly reprove your fellow, and do not permit sin on him.
18 You shall not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbour as yourself: I am the LORD.
You do not take vengeance, nor watch the sons of your people; and you have had love for your neighbor as yourself; I [am] YHWH.
19 All of you shall keep my statutes. You shall not let your cattle gender with a diverse kind: you shall not sow your field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woolen come upon you.
You keep My statutes. You do not cause your livestock to mate [with] two kinds; you do not sow your field with two kinds; and a garment of two kinds, mixed material, does not go up on you.
20 And whosoever lies carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid, betrothed to an husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her; she shall be scourged; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free.
And when a man lies with a woman with seed [from] intercourse, and she [is] a maidservant, betrothed to a man, and not really ransomed, or freedom has not been given to her, there is an investigation; they are not put to death, for she [is] not free.
21 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, even a ram for a trespass offering.
And he has brought in his guilt-offering to YHWH, to the opening of the Tent of Meeting, a ram [for] a guilt-offering,
22 And the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering before the LORD for his sin which he has done: and the sin which he has done shall be forgiven him.
and the priest has made atonement for him with the ram of the guilt-offering before YHWH, for his sin which he has sinned, and it has been forgiven him because of his sin which he has sinned.
23 And when all of you shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then all of you shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of.
And when you come into the land and have planted all [kinds] of trees [for] food, then you have reckoned its fruit as uncircumcised, it is uncircumcised to you [for] three years, it is not eaten,
24 But in the fourth year all the fruit thereof shall be holy to praise the LORD likewise.
and in the fourth year all its fruit is holy—praises for YHWH.
25 And in the fifth year shall all of you eat of the fruit thereof, that it may yield unto you the increase thereof: I am the LORD your God.
And in the fifth year you eat its fruit—to add to you its increase; I [am] your God YHWH.
26 All of you shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall all of you use enchantment, nor observe times.
You do not eat with the blood. You do not enchant, nor observe clouds.
27 All of you shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shall you ruin the corners of your beard.
You do not round the corner of your head, nor destroy the corner of your beard.
28 All of you shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
And you do not put a cutting for the soul in your flesh; and a writing, a cross-mark, you do not put on yourself; I [am] YHWH.
29 Do not prostitute your daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.
You do not defile your daughter to cause her to go whoring, that the land does not go whoring, and the land has been full of wickedness.
30 All of you shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
You keep My Sabbaths and you revere My sanctuary; I [am] YHWH.
31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.
You do not turn to those having familiar spirits, and you do not seek for wizards, to become unclean by them; I [am] your God YHWH.
32 You shall rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear your God: I am the LORD.
You rise up at the presence of grey hairs, and you have honored the presence of an old man, and have been afraid of your God; I [am] YHWH.
33 And if a stranger sojourn with you in your land, all of you shall not vex him.
And when a sojourner sojourns with you in your land, you do not oppress him;
34 But the stranger that dwells with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for all of you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
the sojourner who is sojourning with you is to you as a native among you, and you have had love for him as for yourself, for you have been sojourners in the land of Egypt; I [am] your God YHWH.
35 All of you shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in measuring rod, in weight, or in measure.
You do not do perversity in the judgment, in the measure, in the weight, and in the liquid measure;
36 Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall all of you have: I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt.
you have righteous balances, righteous weights, a righteous ephah, and a righteous hin; I [am] your God YHWH, who has brought you out from the land of Egypt;
37 Therefore shall all of you observe all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: I am the LORD.
and you have observed all my statutes, and all my judgments, and have done them; I [am] YHWH.”
