Colossians 1
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,
Paul, apôtre de Jésus-Christ par la volonté de Dieu, et Timothée, notre frère, à nos frères en Christ,
2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
les saints et les fidèles qui sont à Colosses. Que la grâce et la paix vous soient données de la part de Dieu, le Père!
3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
Nous rendons grâces à Dieu, le Père de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, dans les prières que nous faisons sans cesse pour vous.
4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the (agape) love which all of you have to all the saints,
En effet, nous avons entendu parler de votre foi en Jésus-Christ et de la charité que vous avez pour tous les saints,
5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof all of you heard before in the (logos) word of the truth of the gospel;
en vue de l'espérance qui vous est réservée dans les cieux, et dont vous avez eu connaissance par la prédication de la vérité, c'est-à-dire de l'Évangile.
6 Which has come unto you, as it is in all the world; and brings forth fruit, as it does also in you, since the day all of you heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
Cet Évangile est au milieu de vous, comme il est dans le monde entier: il y porte des fruits et il y fait des progrès, comme il en a fait parmi vous, depuis le jour où vous avez entendu annoncer la grâce de Dieu et où vous avez appris à la connaître véritablement,
7 As all of you also learned of Epaphras our dear fellow servant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;
telle que vous l'a enseignée Épaphras, notre cher compagnon de service, qui nous seconde comme un fidèle ministre du Christ,
8 Who also declared unto us your (agape) love in the (pneuma) Spirit.
et qui nous a dépeint la charité dont vous êtes animés par l'Esprit.
9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that all of you might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
C'est pourquoi, nous aussi, depuis le jour où nous avons reçu ces nouvelles, nous ne cessons de prier pour vous et de demander à Dieu que vous soyez remplis de la connaissance de sa volonté, avec toute sorte de sagesse et d'intelligence spirituelle,
10 That all of you might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
afin que vous vous conduisiez d'une manière digne du Seigneur, pour lui plaire en toutes choses, produisant toute espèce de bonnes oeuvres, croissant dans la connaissance de Dieu,
11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
et étant fortifiés à tous égards par sa force glorieuse, pour tout supporter avec patience et avec joie.
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Bénissez le Père, qui vous a rendus capables d'avoir part à l'héritage des saints dans la lumière:
13 Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his (agape) dear Son:
il nous a délivrés de la puissance des ténèbres et nous a fait passer dans le royaume de son Fils bien-aimé,
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
en qui nous avons la rédemption, la rémission des péchés.
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
C'est lui qui est l'image du Dieu invisible, le premier-né de toute la création.
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Car c'est en lui qu'ont été créées toutes choses dans les cieux et sur la terre, les visibles et les invisibles, soit les trônes, soit les dominations, soit les autorités, soit les puissances: tout a été créé par lui et pour lui.
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Il est avant toutes choses, et toutes choses subsistent en lui.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
C'est lui aussi qui est la tête du corps, le chef de l'Église. Il est le commencement, le premier-né d'entre les morts, afin qu'en toutes choses il tienne le premier rang.
19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell;
Car il a plu à Dieu de faire habiter en lui toute sa plénitude,
20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
et de réconcilier par lui toutes choses avec lui-même, aussi bien celles qui sont sur la terre que celles qui sont dans les cieux, ayant fait la paix par le sang de sa croix.
21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now has he reconciled
Quant à vous, qui étiez autrefois éloignés de Dieu et ses ennemis par vos pensées et par vos mauvaises oeuvres,
22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and irreproachable in his sight:
il vous a maintenant réconciliés avec lui, par la mort que son Fils a soufferte en son corps, dans sa chair, pour vous faire comparaître en sa présence, saints, sans tache, irrépréhensibles,
23 If all of you continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which all of you have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
— si du moins vous demeurez dans la foi, fermes, inébranlables, sans jamais vous écarter de l'espérance proclamée par l'Evangile, que vous avez entendu, qui a été prêché à toute créature sous le ciel, et dont moi, Paul, je suis devenu le ministre.
24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:
Je me réjouis maintenant des souffrances mêmes que j'endure pour vous, et j'achève de souffrir dans ma propre chair ce qui manque aux douleurs du Christ pour son corps, qui est l'Église.
25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfill the (logos) word of God;
C'est de cette Église que je suis devenu le ministre, par la dispensation de Dieu qui m'a confié la mission de vous annoncer pleinement la parole de Dieu,
26 Even the mystery which has been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: (aiōn g165)
le mystère caché de tout temps et dans tous les âges, mais maintenant manifesté à ses saints. (aiōn g165)
27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Car Dieu a voulu leur faire connaître quelles sont les glorieuses richesses de ce mystère parmi les Païens, c'est-à-dire Christ en vous, l'espérance de la gloire.
28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
C'est lui que nous annonçons, avertissant tout homme et instruisant tout homme en toute sagesse, afin de présenter à Dieu tout homme devenu parfait en Christ.
29 Unto which I also labour, striving according to his working, which works in me mightily.
C'est à cela que je travaille, en combattant avec le secours de sa force qui agit puissamment en moi.
