Acts 27
1 And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus' band.

2 And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.
vayam aadraamuttiiya. m potamekam aaruhya aa"siyaade"sasya ta. tasamiipena yaatu. m mati. m k. rtvaa la"ngaram utthaapya potam amocayaama; maakidaniyaade"sasthathi. salaniikiinivaasyaaristaarkhanaamaa ka"scid jano. asmaabhi. h saarddham aasiit|
3 And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously pleaded Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.
parasmin divase. asmaabhi. h siidonnagare pote laagite tatra yuuliya. h senaapati. h paula. m prati saujanya. m pradarthya saantvanaartha. m bandhubaandhavaan upayaatum anujaj nau|
4 And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.
tasmaat pote mocite sati sammukhavaayo. h sambhavaad vaya. m kupropadviipasya tiirasamiipena gatavanta. h|
5 And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.
kilikiyaayaa. h paamphuuliyaayaa"sca samudrasya paara. m gatvaa luukiyaade"saantargata. m muraanagaram upaati. s.thaama|
6 And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy; and he put us therein.
tatsthaanaad itaaliyaade"sa. m gacchati ya. h sikandariyaanagarasya potasta. m tatra praapya "satasenaapatista. m potam asmaan aarohayat|
7 And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come opposite to Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, opposite to Salmone;
tata. h para. m bahuuni dinaani "sanai. h "sanai. h rgatvaa kniidapaar"svopasthti. h puurvva. m pratikuulena pavanena vaya. m salmonyaa. h sammukham upasthaaya kriityupadviipasya tiirasamiipena gatavanta. h|
8 And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh unto which was the city of Lasea.
ka. s.tena tamuttiiryya laaseyaanagarasyaadha. h sundaranaamaka. m khaatam upaati. s.thaama|
9 Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,
ittha. m bahutitha. h kaalo yaapita upavaasadina ncaatiita. m, tatkaara. naat nauvartmani bhaya"nkare sati paulo vinayena kathitavaan,
10 And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.
he mahecchaa aha. m ni"scaya. m jaanaami yaatraayaamasyaam asmaaka. m kle"saa bahuunaamapacayaa"sca bhavi. syanti, te kevala. m potasaamagryoriti nahi, kintvasmaaka. m praa. naanaamapi|
11 Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.
tadaa "satasenaapati. h pauloktavaakyatopi kar. nadhaarasya potava. nija"sca vaakya. m bahuma. msta|
12 And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lies toward the south west and north west.
tat khaata. m "siitakaale vaasaarhasthaana. m na tasmaad avaaciipratiicordi"so. h kriityaa. h phainiikiyakhaata. m yaatu. m yadi "saknuvantastarhi tatra "siitakaala. m yaapayitu. m praaye. na sarvve mantrayaamaasu. h|
13 And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.
tata. h para. m dak. si. navaayu rmanda. m vahatiiti vilokya nijaabhipraayasya siddhe. h suyogo bhavatiiti buddhvaa pota. m mocayitvaa kriityupadviipasya tiirasamiipena calitavanta. h|
14 But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.
kintvalpak. sa. naat parameva urakludonnaamaa pratikuula. h praca. n.do vaayu rvahan pote. alagiit
15 And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.
tasyaabhimukha. m gantum potasyaa"saktatvaad vaya. m vaayunaa svaya. m niitaa. h|
16 And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:
anantara. m klaudiinaamna upadviipasya kuulasamiipena pota. m gamayitvaa bahunaa ka. s.tena k. sudranaavam arak. saama|
17 Which when they had taken up, they used support cables, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksand, strake sail, and so were driven.
te taamaaruhya rajjcaa potasyaadhobhaagam abadhnan tadanantara. m cet poto saikate lagatiiti bhayaad vaatavasanaanyamocayan tata. h poto vaayunaa caalita. h|
18 And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;
kintu krama"so vaayo. h prabalatvaat poto dolaayamaano. abhavat parasmin divase potasthaani katipayaani dravyaa. ni toye nik. siptaani|
19 And the third day we cast out with our own hands the cordage of the ship.
t. rtiiyadivase vaya. m svahastai. h potasajjanadravyaa. ni nik. siptavanta. h|
20 And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.
tato bahudinaani yaavat suuryyanak. satraadiini samaacchannaani tato. atiiva vaatyaagamaad asmaaka. m praa. narak. saayaa. h kaapi pratyaa"saa naati. s.that|
21 But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, all of you should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.
bahudine. su lokairanaahaare. na yaapite. su sarvve. saa. m saak. sat paulasti. s.than akathayat, he mahecchaa. h kriityupadviipaat pota. m na mocayitum aha. m puurvva. m yad avada. m tadgraha. na. m yu. smaakam ucitam aasiit tathaa k. rte yu. smaakam e. saa vipad e. so. apacaya"sca naagha. ti. syetaam|
22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.
kintu saamprata. m yu. smaan viniiya braviimyaha. m, yuuya. m na k. subhyata yu. smaakam ekasyaapi praa. nino haani rna bhavi. syati, kevalasya potasya haani rbhavi. syati|
23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,
yato yasye"svarasya loko. aha. m ya ncaaha. m paricaraami tadiiya eko duuto hyo raatrau mamaantike ti. s.than kathitavaan,
24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God has given you all them that sail with you.
he paula maa bhai. sii. h kaisarasya sammukhe tvayopasthaatavya. m; tavaitaan sa"ngino lokaan ii"svarastubhya. m dattavaan|
25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.
ataeva he mahecchaa yuuya. m sthiramanaso bhavata mahya. m yaa kathaakathi saava"sya. m gha. ti. syate mamaitaad. r"sii vi"svaasa ii"svare vidyate,
26 Nevertheless we must be cast upon a certain island.
kintu kasyacid upadviipasyopari patitavyam asmaabhi. h|
27 But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the sailors deemed that they drew near to some country;
tata. h param aadriyaasamudre potastathaiva dolaayamaana. h san itastato gacchan caturda"sadivasasya raatre rdvitiiyapraharasamaye kasyacit sthalasya samiipamupati. s.thatiiti potiiyalokaa anvamanyanta|
28 And sounded, and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms.
tataste jala. m parimaaya tatra vi. m"sati rvyaamaa jalaaniiti j naatavanta. h| ki ncidduura. m gatvaa punarapi jala. m parimitavanta. h| tatra pa ncada"sa vyaamaa jalaani d. r.s. tvaa
29 Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.
cet paa. saa. ne lagatiiti bhayaat potasya pa"scaadbhaagata"scaturo la"ngaraan nik. sipya divaakaram apek. sya sarvve sthitavanta. h|
30 And as the sailors were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the bow,
kintu potiiyalokaa. h potaagrabhaage la"ngaranik. sepa. m chala. m k. rtvaa jaladhau k. sudranaavam avarohya palaayitum ace. s.tanta|
31 Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, all of you cannot be saved.
tata. h paula. h senaapataye sainyaga. naaya ca kathitavaan, ete yadi potamadhye na ti. s.thanti tarhi yu. smaaka. m rak. sa. na. m na "sakya. m|
32 Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off.
tadaa senaaga. no rajjuun chitvaa naava. m jale patitum adadaat|
33 And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take food, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that all of you have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing.
prabhaatasamaye paula. h sarvvaan janaan bhojanaartha. m praarthya vyaaharat, adya caturda"sadinaani yaavad yuuyam apek. samaanaa anaahaaraa. h kaalam ayaapayata kimapi naabhu. mgdha. m|
34 Wherefore I pray you to take some food: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.
ato vinaye. aha. m bhak. sya. m bhujyataa. m tato yu. smaaka. m ma"ngala. m bhavi. syati, yu. smaaka. m kasyacijjanasya "sirasa. h ke"saikopi na na. mk. syati|
35 And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.
iti vyaah. rtya paula. m puupa. m g. rhiitve"svara. m dhanya. m bhaa. samaa. nasta. m bha. mktvaa bhoktum aarabdhavaan|
36 Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some food.
anantara. m sarvve ca susthiraa. h santa. h khaadyaani parpyag. rhlan|
37 And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls.
asmaaka. m pote. sa. tsaptatyadhika"satadvayalokaa aasan|
38 And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, and cast out the wheat into the sea.
sarvve. su loke. su yathe. s.ta. m bhuktavatsu potasthan godhuumaan jaladhau nik. sipya tai. h potasya bhaaro laghuuk. rta. h|
39 And when it was day, they knew not the land: but they discovered a certain creek with a shore, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship.
dine jaate. api sa ko de"sa iti tadaa na paryyaciiyata; kintu tatra samata. tam eka. m khaata. m d. r.s. tvaa yadi "saknumastarhi vaya. m tasyaabhyantara. m pota. m gamayaama iti mati. m k. rtvaa te la"ngaraan chittvaa jaladhau tyaktavanta. h|
40 And when they had taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and loosed the rudder bands, and hoisted up the mainsail to the wind, and made toward shore.
tathaa kar. nabandhana. m mocayitvaa pradhaana. m vaatavasanam uttolya tiirasamiipa. m gatavanta. h|
41 And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the front part stuck fast, and remained immoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.
kintu dvayo. h samudrayo. h sa"ngamasthaane saikatopari pote nik. sipte. agrabhaage baadhite pa"scaadbhaage prabalatara"ngo. alagat tena poto bhagna. h|
42 And the soldiers' counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape.
tasmaad bandaya"sced baahubhistaranta. h palaayante ityaa"sa"nkayaa senaaga. nastaan hantum amantrayat;
43 But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:
kintu "satasenaapati. h paula. m rak. situ. m prayatna. m k. rtvaa taan tacce. s.taayaa nivartya ityaadi. s.tavaan, ye baahutara. na. m jaananti te. agre prollampya samudre patitvaa baahubhistiirttvaa kuula. m yaantu|
44 And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.
aparam ava"si. s.taa janaa. h kaa. s.tha. m potiiya. m dravya. m vaa yena yat praapyate tadavalambya yaantu; ittha. m sarvve bhuumi. m praapya praa. nai rjiivitaa. h|
