1 Timothy 1
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;
Pablo, apóstol de Cristo Jesús, por el mandato de Dios nuestro Salvador, y de Cristo Jesús, nuestra esperanza,
2 Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
a Timoteo, verdadero hijo en la fe: gracia, misericordia y paz, de parte de Dios Padre, y de Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor.
3 As I besought you to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that you might charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
Al irme a Macedonia te pedí que te quedaras en Éfeso para mandar a ciertas personas que no enseñen diferente doctrina,
4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
ni presten atención a fábulas y genealogías interminables, que sirven más bien para disputas que para la obra de Dios por medio de la fe.
5 Now the end of the commandment is love (agape) out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith sincere:
El fin de la predicación es el amor de un corazón puro, de conciencia recta y cuya fe no sea fingida;
6 From which some having miss the mark have turned aside unto vain arguments;
de la cual desviándose algunos han venido a dar en vana palabrería.
7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
Deseaban ser maestros de la Ley, sin entender ni lo que dicen ni lo que con tanto énfasis afirman.
8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
Sabemos que la Ley es buena, pero si uno la usa como es debido,
9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
teniendo presente que la Ley no fue dada para los justos, sino para los prevaricadores y rebeldes, para los impíos y pecadores, para los facinerosos e irreligiosos, para los parricidas y matricidas, para los homicidas,
10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for men-stealers (slave traders, kidnappers), for liars, for promise breakers, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
fornicarios, sodomitas, secuestradores de hombres, mentirosos, perjuros, y cuanto otro vicio haya contrario a la sana doctrina,
11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
la cual es según el Evangelio de la gloria del bendito Dios, cuya predicación me ha sido confiada.
12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
Doy gracias a Aquel que me fortaleció, a Cristo Jesús, Señor nuestro, de haberme tenido por fiel, poniéndome en el ministerio;
13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and prone to cause hurt: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
a mí, que antes fui blasfemo y perseguidor y violento, mas fui objeto de misericordia, por haberlo hecho con ignorancia, en incredulidad;
14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love (agape) which is in Christ Jesus.
y la gracia de nuestro Señor sobreabundó con fe y amor en Cristo Jesús.
15 This is a faithful saying, (logos) and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
Fiel es esta palabra y digna de ser recibida de todos: que Cristo Jesús vino al mundo para salvar a los pecadores, de los cuales el primero soy yo.
16 Nevertheless for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. (aiōnios g166)
Mas para esto se me hizo misericordia, a fin de que Jesucristo mostrase toda su longanimidad en mí, el primero, como prototipo de los que después habían de creer en Él para ( alcanzar la ) vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)
17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
Al rey de los siglos, al inmortal, invisible, al solo Dios, honor y gloria por los siglos de los siglos. Amén. (aiōn g165)
18 This charge I commit unto you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on you, that you by them might war a good warfare;
Este mandato te transfiero, hijo mío, Timoteo, conforme a las profecías hechas anteriormente sobre ti, a fin de que siguiéndolas milites la buena milicia,
19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
conservando la fe y la buena conciencia, la cual algunos desecharon naufragando en la fe;
20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
entre ellos Himeneo y Alejandro, a los cuales he entregado a Satanás para que aprendan a no blasfemar.
