1 Thessalonians 1

1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

パウロ、シルワノ、テモテ、書を父なる神および主イエス・キリストにあるテサロニケ人の教會に贈る。願はくは恩惠と平安と汝らに在らんことを。

2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;

われら祈のときに汝らを憶えて、常に汝ら衆人のために神に感謝す。

3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, (agape) and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

これ汝らが信仰のはたらき、愛の勞苦、主イエス・キリストに對する望の忍耐を、我らの父なる神の前に絶えず念ふに因りてなり。

4 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.

神に愛せらるる兄弟よ、また汝らの選ばれたることを知るに因りてなり。

5 For our gospel came not unto you in word (logos) only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, (pneuma) and in much assurance; as all of you know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

それ我らの福音の汝らに至りしは、言にのみ由らず、能力と聖 靈と大なる確信とに由れり。且われらが汝らの中にありて汝らの爲に如何なる行爲をなししかは、汝らの知る所なり。

6 And all of you became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word (logos) in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit. (pneuma)

かくて汝らは大なる患難のうちにも、聖 靈による喜悦をもて御言をうけ、我ら及び主に效ふ者となり、

7 So that all of you were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.

而してマケドニヤ及びアカヤに在る凡ての信者の模範となれり。

8 For from you sounded out the word (logos) of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.

それは主のことば汝 等より出でて、啻にマケドニヤ及びアカヤに響きしのみならず、神に對する汝らの信仰のことは諸方に弘りたるなり。されば之に就きては何をも語るに及ばず。

9 For they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how all of you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

人々 親しく我らが汝らの中に入りし状を告げ、また汝らが偶像を棄てて神に歸し、活ける眞の神に事へ、

10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

神の死人の中より甦へらせ給ひし御子、すなはち我らを來らんとする怒より救ひ出すイエスの、天より降りたまふを待ち望むことを告ぐればなり。
