1 Thessalonians 1

1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paulus, Silvanus und Timotheus an die Gemeinde der Thessalonicher in Gott dem Vater und dem Herrn Jesus Christus: Gnade sei mit euch und Friede von Gott unserem Vater und dem Herrn Jesus Christus!

2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;

Wir danken Gott allezeit für euch alle, indem wir euer in unseren Gebeten ohne Unterlaß gedenken,

3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, (agape) and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

Eingedenk eures Werkes im Glauben, und eurer Arbeit in der Liebe, und eurer Beharrlichkeit in der Hoffnung auf unseren Herrn Jesus Christus vor Gott, unserem Vater;

4 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.

Weil wir wissen, von Gott geliebte Brüder, eure Erwählung,

5 For our gospel came not unto you in word (logos) only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, (pneuma) and in much assurance; as all of you know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

Daß unser Evangelium bei euch nicht allein im Wort, sondern auch in der Kraft und im Heiligen Geist und in großer Zuversicht besteht, wie ihr selbst wißt, wie wir uns unter euch zu eurem Besten erwiesen haben.

6 And all of you became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word (logos) in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit. (pneuma)

Und ihr seid unsere und des Herrn Nacheiferer geworden und habt das Wort unter vieler Trübsal mit Freude des Heiligen Geistes aufgenommen;

7 So that all of you were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.

Also, daß ihr allen Gläubigen in Mazedonien und Achaja Vorbilder geworden seid.

8 For from you sounded out the word (logos) of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.

Denn von euch ist das Wort des Herrn erschollen, nicht allein in Mazedonien und in Achaja, sondern euer Glaube an Gott ist auch allerorten ausgekommen, so daß wir nicht nötig haben, etwas davon zu sagen.

9 For they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how all of you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

Denn sie selbst verkündigen von uns, welchen Eingang wir bei euch hatten, und wie ihr euch von den Abgöttern zu Gott bekehrt habt, um dem lebendigen und wahren Gott zu dienen;

10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

Und Seinen Sohn, Den Er von den Toten auferweckt, Jesus, Der uns von dem zukünftigen Zorn errettet, aus dem Himmel zu erwarten.
