1 Thessalonians 3
1 Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;
Por esto, no pudiendo ya soportarlo más, nos pareció bien quedarnos solos en Atenas,
2 And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellow labourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:
y enviamos a Timoteo, nuestro hermano y ministro de Dios en el Evangelio de Cristo, con el fin de fortaleceros y exhortaros en provecho de vuestra fe,
3 That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.
para que nadie se conturbase en medio de estas tribulaciones. Pues vosotros mismos sabéis que para esto hemos sido puestos.
4 For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and all of you know.
Porque ya cuando estábamos con vosotros, os preveníamos que hemos de padecer tribulación, como realmente sucedió; bien lo sabéis.
5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.
Así que también yo, no pudiendo más, envié para informarme de vuestra fe, no fuera que os hubiese tentado el tentador y nuestro trabajo resultase sin fruto.
6 But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and love, (agape) and that all of you have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:
Mas ahora, después de la llegada de Timoteo, que regresó de vosotros, y nos trajo buenas noticias de vuestra fe y caridad, y cómo conserváis siempre buena memoria de nosotros, deseosos de vernos, así como nosotros también a vosotros,
7 Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:
por eso, en medio de todo nuestro aprieto y tribulación, nos hemos consolado, hermanos, en cuanto a vosotros, por causa de vuestra fe.
8 For now we live, if all of you stand fast in the Lord.
Ahora sí que vivimos si vosotros estáis firmes en el Señor.
9 For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;
Pues ¿qué gracias podemos dar a Dios por vosotros en retorno de todo el gozo con que nos regocijamos por causa vuestra ante nuestro Dios,
10 Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
rogando noche y día con la mayor instancia por ver vuestro rostro y completar lo que falta a vuestra fe?
11 Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.
El mismo Dios y Padre nuestro, y nuestro Señor Jesús dirijan nuestro camino hacia vosotros.
12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love (agape) one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
Y haga el Señor que crezcáis y abundéis en el amor de unos con otros, y con todos, tal cual es el nuestro para con vosotros;
13 To the end he may establish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
a fin de confirmar irreprensibles vuestros corazones en santidad, delante de Dios y Padre nuestro, en la Parusía de nuestro Señor Jesús con todos sus santos.
