Obadiah 1

1 The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord Yhwh concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from Yhwh, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.

൧ഓബദ്യാവിന്റെ ദർശനം. യഹോവയായ കർത്താവ് ഏദോമിനെക്കുറിച്ച് ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “നാം യഹോവയിങ്കൽനിന്ന് ഒരു വർത്തമാനം കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ജനതകളുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഒരു ദൂതനെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ‘എഴുന്നേൽക്കുവിൻ; നാം അവളുടെ നേരെ യുദ്ധത്തിന് പുറപ്പെടുക.’”

2 Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.

൨“ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ജനതകളുടെ ഇടയിൽ ചെറുതാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ അത്യന്തം നിന്ദിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

൩പാറപ്പിളർപ്പുകളിൽ പാർക്കുന്നവനും ഉന്നതവാസമുള്ളവനും ‘ആര് എന്നെ നിലത്ത് തള്ളിയിടും’ എന്ന് ഹൃദയത്തിൽ പറയുന്നവനുമേ, നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ അഹങ്കാരം നിന്നെ ചതിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

4 Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith Yhwh.

൪നീ കഴുകനെപ്പോലെ ഉയർന്നാലും, നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ കൂടുവച്ചാലും, അവിടെനിന്ന് ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഇറക്കും” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.

5 If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, ( how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?

൫“കള്ളന്മാർ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നാലോ, രാത്രിയിൽ പിടിച്ചുപറിക്കാർ വന്നാലോ - നീ എങ്ങനെ നശിച്ചുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു - അവർ തങ്ങൾക്ക് മതിയാകുവോളം മോഷ്ടിക്കുകയില്ലയോ? മുന്തിരിപ്പഴം പറിക്കുന്നവർ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നാൽ അവർ കാലാ പെറുക്കുവാനുള്ള പഴം ശേഷിപ്പിക്കുകയില്ലയോ?

6 How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up!

൬ഏശാവിനുള്ളവരെ കൊള്ളയടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതും അവന്റെ നിക്ഷേപങ്ങളെ തിരഞ്ഞ് കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നതും എങ്ങനെ?

7 All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.

൭നിന്നോട് സഖ്യതയുള്ളവരെല്ലാം നിന്നെ അതിർത്തിയോളം അയച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; നിന്നോട് സമാധാനമുള്ളവർ നിന്നെ ചതിച്ച് തോല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ ആഹാരം ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നവർ നിനക്ക് കെണി വയ്ക്കുന്നു; ആർക്കും അത് മനസ്സിലാകുന്നതുമില്ല.

8 Shall I not in that day, saith Yhwh, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?

൮ആ നാളിൽ ഞാൻ ഏദോമിൽനിന്ന് ജ്ഞാനികളെയും ഏശാവിന്റെ പർവ്വതത്തിൽനിന്ന് വിവേകത്തെയും നശിപ്പിക്കും” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.

9 And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.

൯ഏശാവിന്റെ പർവ്വതത്തിൽ ഉള്ള യാതൊരുവനും വെട്ടേറ്റ് ഛേദിക്കപ്പെടുവാൻ തക്കവിധം തേമാനേ, നിന്റെ വീരന്മാർ പരിഭ്രമിച്ചുപോകും.

10 For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.

൧൦“നിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യാക്കോബിനോട് നീ ചെയ്ത അക്രമം നിമിത്തം ലജ്ജ നിന്നെ മൂടും; നീ സദാകാലത്തേക്കും ഛേദിക്കപ്പെടും.

11 In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.

൧൧നീ അകന്നുനിന്ന നാളിൽ, പരദേശികൾ അവന്റെ സമ്പത്ത് അപഹരിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോകുകയും അന്യദേശക്കാർ അവന്റെ ഗോപുരങ്ങളിൽ കടന്ന് യെരൂശലേമിനു ചീട്ടിടുകയും ചെയ്തനാളിൽ തന്നെ, നീയും അവരിൽ ഒരുവനെപ്പോലെ ആയിരുന്നു.

12 But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

൧൨നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ ദിവസം, അവന്റെ അനർത്ഥദിവസം തന്നെ, നീ കണ്ടു രസിക്കരുതായിരുന്നു; നീ യെഹൂദ്യരെക്കുറിച്ച് അവരുടെ വിനാശദിവസത്തിൽ സന്തോഷിക്കരുതായിരുന്നു; അവരുടെ കഷ്ടദിവസത്തിൽ നീ വമ്പു പറയരുതായിരുന്നു.

13 Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity;

൧൩എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ അനർത്ഥദിവസത്തിൽ നീ അവരുടെ വാതിലിനകത്ത് കടക്കരുതായിരുന്നു; അവരുടെ അനർത്ഥദിവസത്തിൽ നീ അവരുടെ അനർത്ഥം കണ്ടു രസിക്കരുതായിരുന്നു; അവരുടെ അനർത്ഥദിവസത്തിൽ അവരുടെ സമ്പത്തിന്മേൽ നീ കൈ വെക്കരുതായിരുന്നു.

14 Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.

൧൪അവരിൽ രക്ഷപെട്ടുപോയവരെ ഛേദിച്ചുകളയുവാൻ നീ വഴിത്തലക്കൽ നിൽക്കരുതായിരുന്നു; കഷ്ടദിവസത്തിൽ അവന് ശേഷിച്ചവരെ നീ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കരുതായിരുന്നു.

15 For the day of Yhwh is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.

൧൫സകലജനതകൾക്കും യഹോവയുടെ നാൾ അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നിന്നോടും ചെയ്യും; നിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി നിന്റെ തലമേൽ തന്നെ മടങ്ങിവരും.

16 For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.

൧൬നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ വിശുദ്ധപർവ്വതത്തിൽവച്ച് കുടിച്ചതുപോലെ സകലജനതകളും ഇടവിടാതെ കുടിക്കും; അവർ മോന്തിക്കുടിക്കുകയും ജനിക്കാത്തവരെപ്പോലെ ആകുകയും ചെയ്യും.

17 But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

൧൭എന്നാൽ സീയോൻ പർവ്വതത്തിൽ ഒരു രക്ഷിതഗണം ഉണ്ടാകും; അത് വിശുദ്ധമായിരിക്കും; യാക്കോബ് ഗൃഹം തങ്ങളുടെ അവകാശങ്ങളെ കൈവശമാക്കും.

18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for Yhwh hath spoken it.

൧൮അന്ന് യാക്കോബ് ഗൃഹം തീയും യോസേഫ് ഗൃഹം ജ്വാലയും ഏശാവുഗൃഹം വയ്ക്കോലും ആയിരിക്കും; അവർ അവരെ കത്തിച്ച് ദഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളയും; ഏശാവുഗൃഹത്തിന് ശേഷിപ്പുണ്ടാകുകയില്ല;” യഹോവയല്ലയോ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്.

19 And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.

൧൯തെക്കെ ദേശക്കാർ ഏശാവിന്റെ പർവ്വതവും താഴ്വരയിലുള്ളവർ ഫെലിസ്ത്യദേശവും കൈവശമാക്കും; അവർ എഫ്രയീമിന്റെയും ശമര്യയുടെയും പ്രദേശങ്ങൾ കൈവശമാക്കും; ബെന്യാമീൻ ഗിലെയാദിനെ കൈവശമാക്കും.

20 And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.

൨൦ഇവിടെനിന്ന് പ്രവാസികളായിപ്പോയ യിസ്രായേൽ മക്കൾ സാരെഫാത്ത്‌വരെ കനാന്യർക്കുള്ളതും, സെഫാരദിലുള്ള യെരൂശലേമ്യപ്രവാസികൾ തെക്കെദേശത്തെ പട്ടണങ്ങളും കൈവശമാക്കും.

21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be Yhwh's.

൨൧ഏശാവിന്റെ പർവ്വതത്തെ ന്യായം വിധിക്കേണ്ടതിന് രക്ഷകന്മാർ സീയോൻ പർവ്വതത്തിൽ കയറിച്ചെല്ലും; രാജത്വം യഹോവയ്ക്ക് ആകും.
