Luke 6
1 And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the grain fields; and his disciples plucked the heads of grain, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.
Or il advint un jour de sabbat qu'il traversait des champs de blé, et ses disciples arrachaient et mangeaient les épis, en les frottant dans leurs mains.
2 And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days?
Mais quelques pharisiens dirent: « Pourquoi faites-vous ce qui n'est pas permis le jour du sabbat? »
3 And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him;
Et Jésus leur répliqua: « N'avez-vous pas même lu ce que fit David quand il eut faim, lui et ceux qui étaient avec lui?
4 How he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone?
Il entra dans la maison de Dieu, et ayant pris les pains de proposition, il en mangea, et il en donna à ceux qui étaient avec lui, quoiqu'il ne soit permis d'en manger qu'aux prêtres seuls. »
5 And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
Et il leur disait: « Le fils de l'homme est maître du sabbat. »
6 And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered.
Or, il advint encore dans un autre sabbat qu'il entra dans la synagogue, et qu'il enseignait. Et il y avait là un homme dont la main droite était sèche.
7 And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him.
Et les scribes et les pharisiens l'épiaient pour voir s'il ferait une guérison le jour du sabbat, afin de trouver à l'accuser;
8 But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.
mais il connaissait leurs pensées. Or il dit à l'homme qui avait la main sèche: « Lève-toi et tiens-toi là au milieu. » Et s'étant levé il se tint debout.
9 Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?
Or Jésus leur dit: « Je vous demande s'il est permis le jour du sabbat de faire du bien, ou de faire du mal, de sauver une vie ou de la perdre? »
10 And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.
Et ayant porté tout autour de lui ses regards sur eux tous, il lui dit: « Étends ta main. » Et il le fit, et sa main fut guérie.
11 And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.
Mais ils furent remplis de frénésie, et ils discutaient entre eux ce qu'ils feraient à Jésus.
12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.
Or il advint en ces jours-là qu'il sortit pour aller prier sur la montagne; et il passait toute la nuit à prier Dieu.
13 And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;
Et lorsque le jour eut paru, il appela ses disciples, et après en avoir choisi douze parmi eux, qu'il nomma aussi apôtres: —
14 Simon, ( whom he also named Peter, ) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,
Simon, qu'il nomma aussi Pierre, et André son frère, et Jacques et Jean, et Philippe et Barthélemi,
15 Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphæus, and Simon called Zelotes,
et Matthieu et Thomas, Jacques fils d'Alphée, et Simon appelé zélote,
16 And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.
et Judas fils de Jacques, et Judas Iscarioth qui devint traître —
17 And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judæa and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;
et après être descendu avec eux, il s'arrêta dans une plaine; et là se trouvait une foule nombreuse de ses disciples et une grande multitude de peuple, lesquels étaient venus de toute la Judée, et de Jérusalem, et des côtes de Tyr et de Sidon, pour l'entendre et pour être guéris de leurs maladies;
18 And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.
et ceux qui étaient obsédés par des esprits impurs étaient guéris,
19 And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.
et toute la foule cherchait à le toucher, car une force sortait de lui et les guérissait tous.
20 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.
Et lui-même ayant levé les yeux sur ses disciples disait: « Heureux vous qui êtes pauvres, car c'est à vous qu'appartient le royaume de Dieu.
21 Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.
Heureux vous qui êtes maintenant affamés, car vous serez rassasiés. Heureux vous qui pleurez maintenant, car vous rirez.
22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.
Vous êtes heureux quand les hommes vous auront haïs, et quand ils vous auront exclus et outragés, et qu'ils auront rejeté votre nom comme pervers, à cause du fils de l'homme.
23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.
Réjouissez-vous en ce jour-là et bondissez de joie; car, voici, votre récompense est grande dans les cieux; c'est de la même manière en effet que leurs pères agissaient envers les prophètes.
24 But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.
Au contraire, malheur à vous riches, car vous possédez déjà votre consolation.
25 Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.
Malheur à vous qui êtes maintenant saturés, car vous aurez faim. Malheur à vous qui riez maintenant, car vous serez dans le deuil et les larmes.
26 Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.
Malheur quand tous les hommes disent du bien de vous; c'est de la même manière en effet qu'ils agissaient envers les faux prophètes.
27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
Mais je vous dis à vous qui m'écoutez: aimez vos ennemis, faites du bien à ceux qui vous haïssent,
28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
bénissez ceux qui vous maudissent, priez pour ceux qui vous maltraitent.
29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.
A celui qui te frappe sur la joue, présente encore l'autre, et à celui qui t'enlève ton manteau, ne soustrais pas non plus ta tunique.
30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.
Donne à quiconque te demande, et ne réclame rien de celui qui enlève ce qui est à toi.
31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
Et conformément à la manière dont vous voulez que les hommes agissent envers vous, agissez de même envers eux.
32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.
Et si vous aimez ceux qui vous aiment, quelle gratitude vous en revient-il? Car les pécheurs aussi aiment ceux qui les aiment.
33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.
Et en effet si vous faites du bien à ceux qui vous font du bien, quelle gratitude vous en revient-il? Les pécheurs aussi font la même chose.
34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.
Et si vous prêtez à ceux dont vous espérez recevoir, quelle gratitude vous en revient-il? Les pécheurs aussi prêtent aux pécheurs, afin de recevoir la pareille.
35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
Au contraire, aimez vos ennemis, et faites du bien, et prêtez, sans espérer du retour; et votre récompense sera considérable, et vous serez fils du Très-Haut, car Il est bon envers les ingrats et les méchants.
36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
Soyez miséricordieux comme votre Père est miséricordieux.
37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
Et ne jugez point, et vous ne serez certainement pas jugés; et ne condamnez point, et vous ne serez certainement, pas condamnés. Absolvez, et vous serez absous.
38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
Donnez, et il vous sera donné; on versera dans votre sein une bonne mesure, tassée, secouée, débordante; car avec la mesure dont vous mesurerez, il vous sera mesuré. »
39 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?
Or il leur dit encore une parabole: « Est-ce qu'un aveugle peut guider un aveugle? Ne tomberont-ils pas l'un et l'autre dans un fossé?
40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.
Un disciple n'est pas au-dessus de son maître; mais chacun sera façonné comme son maître.
41 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Mais pourquoi regardes-tu le fétu qui est dans l'œil de ton frère, tandis que tu ne t'aperçois pas de la poutre qui est dans ton propre œil?
42 Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye.
Comment peux-tu dire à ton frère: Frère, permets que j'ôte le fétu qui est dans ton œil; toi qui ne vois pas la poutre qui est dans ton œil? Hypocrite, ôte premièrement la poutre de ton œil, et tu verras alors à ôter le fétu qui est dans l'œil de ton frère.
43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Il n'y a pas en effet de bon arbre qui produise du fruit pourri, ni, d'un autre côté, d'arbre pourri qui produise du bon fruit;
44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
car chaque arbre se connaît à son propre fruit; en effet ce n'est pas sur des épines qu'on recueille des figues, ni sur un buisson qu'on vendange du raisin.
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
L'homme bon du bon trésor de son cœur tire le bien, et le méchant du mauvais tire le mal; car c'est par ce qui déborde du cœur que sa bouche parle.
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Mais pourquoi m'appelez-vous: « Seigneur, Seigneur! » et ne faites-vous pas ce que je dis?
47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
Quiconque vient à moi, et écoute mes paroles, et les met en pratique, je vous montrerai à qui il ressemble.
48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
Il ressemble à un homme qui bâtit une maison, lequel a foui et profondément creusé, et placé la fondation sur le roc; mais une inondation étant survenue, le fleuve a fait irruption contre cette maison-là, et il n'a pu l'ébranler parce qu'elle était bien bâtie.
49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
Mais celui qui a écouté et n'a pas mis en pratique ressemble à un homme qui a bâti une maison sur la terre sans fondation; le fleuve a fait irruption contre elle, et aussitôt elle est tombée, et l'écroulement de cette maison-là a été grand. »
