< John 1 >

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Kar chakruok, Wach ne nitie, kendo Wach ne ni kod Nyasaye, kendo Wach ne en Nyasaye.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Ne en gi Nyasaye nyaka aa chakruok.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
En ema nomiyo gik moko duto ochwe; kendo ka dine onge en, to onge gima dine ochwe mosechwe.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Ngima ne ni kuome, kendo ngimano ne en ler ni ji.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Lerno rieny ei mudho, to mudho pok oime.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
Nyasaye nooro ngʼat moro ma nyinge Johana.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
Nobiro kaka janeno mondo otim nend lerno, mondo kanyalore to ji duto oyie kuom lerno.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
Johana owuon ne ok en ler nogo, to nobiro mana kaka janeno mar lerno.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Ler mar adier machiwo ler ni ji duto noyudo biro e piny e kindeno.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Ne en e piny, to kata obedo ni en ema nomiyo ochwe piny, to piny ne ok ongʼeye.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Nobiro ir joge owuon, to joge ne ok orwake.
12 But as many as accepted him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
To ji duto mane orwake, mi oyie kuome, nomiyogi teko mar doko nyithind Nyasaye,
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
ma gin nyithindo mane ok onywol koa e koth dhano, kata kuom pach dhano, kata kuom dwach dichwo, to nonywolgi kuom Nyasaye.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, ( and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, ) full of grace and truth.
Wach nodoko dhano kendo nodak kodwa. Waseneno duongʼne, ma en duongʼ mar Wuowi ma Miderma, ma noa ka Wuoro kopongʼ gi ngʼwono kod adiera.
15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
Johana notimo neno kuome. Nokok matek kowacho niya, “Ma e Jal mane awuoyo kuome kane awachonu ni, ‘Jal mabiro bangʼa oloya mabor nikech ne entie kapok ne abetie.’”
16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
Waduto waseyudo gweth mogundho kuom ngʼwonone mathoth.
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
Chik nochiw kokalo kuom Musa, to ngʼwono kod adiera, to Yesu Kristo ema nokelo.
18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
Onge ngʼama oseneno Nyasaye, to Wuowi ma Miderma machiegni gi Wuoro ema osemiyo wangʼeye.
19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?
Ma e neno mane Johana otimo ka jo-Yahudi modak Jerusalem nooro jodolo gi jo-Lawi mondo openje ni ne en ngʼa.
20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.
Johana ne ok opandonegi gimoro, to nohulonigi ka en thuolo niya, “Ok an Kristo.”
21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.
Negipenje niya, “Kare in ngʼa? In Elija koso?” To nowacho niya, “Ok an.” “Koso in e janabi?” Nodwoko niya, “Ooyo.”
22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
Eka negiwachone mogik niya, “Kare, in ngʼa? Miwa dwoko mondo water ni joma ne oorowa. Iwacho angʼo kuomi in iwuon?”
23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah.
Johana nodwokogi gi weche mag Isaya Janabi niya, “An e ngʼat makok e thim ni, ‘Losuru yo moriere tir ne Jehova Nyasaye.’”
24 And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.
To jo-Farisai moko ma noor,
25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elijah, neither that prophet?
nopenje niya, “Ka ok in Kristo, kata Elija, kata janabi, to angʼo momiyo ibatiso ji?”
26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;
Johana nodwokogi niya, “An abatisou gi pi, to nitie ngʼato e dieru ma ukia.
27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose.
En Jal mabiro bangʼa, ma ok awinjora gonyo tond wuochene.”
28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.
Magi duto notimore Bethania, loka mar aora Jordan, kuma Johana ne batisoe ji.
29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Kinyne Johana noneno Yesu kabiro ire, mi nowacho niya, “Neuru, Jalcha e Nyarombo mar Nyasaye, magolo richo mar piny!
30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.
Ma e jal mane awuoyo kuome kane awacho ni, ‘Ngʼato mabiro bangʼa oloya mabor, nikech ne entie kapok ne abetie.’
31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
An awuon ne ok angʼeye, to gimomiyo ne abiro ka abatiso ji gi pi ne en mondo ofwenyre ni Israel.”
32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
Eka Johana notimo nenoni kama: “Ne aneno Roho kalor piny koa e polo e kido mar akuru kendo kapiyo kuome.
33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
Ka dine Jal mane oora mondo abatis ji gi pi we nyisa, to dine ok angʼeye. Nonyisa ni, ‘Ngʼama ineno ka Roho olor mi opiyo kuome e Jal mabiro batiso ji gi Roho Maler.’
34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
Kinyne Johana ne ni kanyo kendo gi jopuonjrene ariyo.
36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
Kane gineno ka Yesu kalo machiegni, nowacho niya, “Neuru, Jalcha e Nyarombo mar Nyasaye!”
37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
Kane jopuonjrene ariyogo owinjo kowacho mano, negiluwo bangʼ Yesu.
38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, ( which is to say, being interpreted, Master, ) where dwellest thou?
Yesu nolokore monenogi ka giluwo bangʼe, mi nopenjogi niya, “Angʼo mudwaro?” Negiwachone niya, “Rabi” (ma tiende ni “Japuonj”), “idak kanye?”
39 He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.
Nodwokogi niya, “Biuru mondo udhi une.” Omiyo negidhi mine gineno kama ne odakie, kendo negibet kode kanyo odiechiengʼ ngima. Ne en kar sa apar mar odhiambo.
40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.

41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messiah, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.
Gima Andrea notimo mokwongo ne en manyo owadgi ma Simon kendo nyise niya, “Waseyudo Mesia” (tiende ni Kristo).
42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jonah: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.
Omiyo nokelo Simon ir Yesu. Yesu nongʼiye tir mowachone niya, “In Simon wuod Johana, chiengʼ moro noluongi ni Kefa” (tiende ni Petro).
43 The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.
Kinyne Yesu nongʼado e pache mondo oa odhi Galili. Kane oyudo Filipo, nowachone niya, “Luwa.”
44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
Filipo, mana kaka Andrea gi Petro, ne aa e dala mar Bethsaida.
45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
Filipo noyudo Nathaniel mowachone niya, “Waseyudo ngʼat ma Musa nondiko kuome e kitap Chik, kendo ma jonabi bende nondiko kuome, ma en Yesu ja-Nazareth, ma wuod Josef.”
46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.
Nathaniel nopenje niya, “Bende gima ber moro amora nyalo aa Nazareth adier?” Filipo nodwoke niya, “Bi mondo ine.”
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
Kane Yesu oneno Nathaniel ka biro kochomo ire, nowuoyo kuome kowacho niya, “Neuru ja-Israel adier, maonge miganga moro amora kuome.”
48 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
Nathaniel nopenje niya, “Ingʼeya nade?” Yesu nodwoke niya, “Ne aneni sa ma ne in e tiend ngʼowu, kane pok Filipo oluongi.”
49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.
Eka Nathaniel nodwoke niya, “Rabi, in Wuod Nyasaye adier; in Ruodh Israel.”
50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.
Yesu nowachone niya, “Iyie mana nikech aa wachoni ni nende aneni e tie yiend ngʼowu. To ibiro neno gik madongo mohingo mano.”
51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
Eka nomedo wacho niya, “Awachonu adier ni ubiro neno ka polo oyawore, kendo ka malaike mag Nyasaye idho kendo lor kuom Wuod Dhano.”
